2 years of use gives you a great perspective on this. I've had packs that have been comfortable for short trips and I've been fine with them. However, once I started using them more often for different things, the issues and pros started to come out of the woodwork. Excellent reviews as usual!

To keep the hip belt less in the way during transport or in my tent I clip the buckle and cinch down also the same with the chest strap and lay my day clothes or anything I want tucked away on top of my pack
