I certainly envy you and your wife. I'd be living almost exactly the same way if I won the lottery in a heartbeat. Probably somewhere in Ontario or Manitoba.
Hi Russell and city girl. I'm a brand new subscriber and I just wanted to say I love your video's. I've been watching Shaun's from my self reliance more or less from the start and just came across yours 2 days ago. The concept of what you're both doing is more or less identical, 2 guys with dogs living their best lives building cabins in the wilderness. AWESOME! I've been watching several of your videos over the past 2 days since I joined and unless I've missed it by mistake I have an idea for you.
Your cabin is a lot lot bigger than Shaun's and built completely different too, however, why dont you do a video tour of your cabin? Like a complete cabin tour. Especially showing the inside and how your living? A lot of youtubers when they move house all do a house tour of their place and they are SUPER POPULAR. Basically showing how you live, how things operate like the solar system and how appliances are run , plus a general look into your world of living. Oh and 1 last thing............I absolutely love your sense of humour Russell, its AWESOME. Thanks for making these videos from a new fan from Bedfordshire UK ❤

What I really enjoy is the sweetness between you and city girl out walking and holding hands, a real show of love. The 180 acres you bought is a perfect place to live. Love what you do I am about to start my journey soon I can't wait .... attempting to live in Maine off grid living sustainable and hopefully developing the land to the point that I can open it up to others and begin a self sufficient sustainable community 😀 its a big dream but I hope to make it happen one day !

Do it! I'm 72 years old now, and I want to move to Maine so bad! I don't think I can do off grid at this stage of the game, but I sure wish I had done it when I was younger! I'm still looking to buy a cabin near a lake, even though it probably won't be off grid. I live in Missouri now. We get snow, but not as much as Maine. I stay indoors when it snows most of the time, but in that beautiful untouched snow I know I would be outside sometimes! Good luck to you with your dream! I'm a woman who loves to fish, cook, bake, garden, and do crafts. So I'm sure I would be just fine! Learning to adjust to the land is so important! Treat it right and it will treat you right! I do permaculture organic gardening. I get massive amounts of produce sometimes!

Someone else mentioned the natural setting steals the show. All of the drone footage is awesome showing the changing seasons. It gives me a feel of what it is like to live and walk in the Canadian forest in the rain, snow, heat and surrounded by those darn flies. Toward the end when you ran to hug Alicia, well it brought tears to my eyes. Lucky folks living their life in the wilderness. Being locked down at your place is a dream, enjoy being present with all the beauty of nature. I saved this video to view again.

I am sick with Covid symptoms and down in the dumps because I have to self isolate 😷 some of the scenes in this montage are absolutely heaven! I miss the smells after a hard rain out the bush...there’s no perfume like that anywhere. Of course how can anyone not love all the wildlife flora and fauna...so beautiful. Thank you and stay well.

You're the gopher! SJ has a good sense of humour, it just doesn't come out in his videos very well.
@@RaspberryRockOffGridCabin yep, gophering is the hardest job I've never been paid to do. Spent 15 minutes looking for his sponge which probably blew away the night before so pulled out a new one! SJ is probably a great guy to know. I have seen him laugh a few times.

It's a trade of the cute otters or the fish,we have a pond that the otters wiped clean of the channel catfish, still have some bass only because they are a little faster!

Man we build little cabins in the bush too and I ordered 12” rims and Atv tires to put on our Atv trailer it made life way easier then the small little wheels. Princess Auto Super cheap fix

Save your bacon grease, be sure to strain it through a coffee filter to remove the scraps and stuff. Store in an air tight container in the ice box or very cool place.
