Slow Motion Sneeze in 4K - The Slow Mo Guys with Dr Anthony Fauci

  • Somethings were never meant to be seen at 1000fps in 4K. I'd include this subject as one of them. Gav coughs, sneezes and talks in ultra backlit slow motion to illustrate the importance of wearing masks to prevent aerosolized particles from blasting out of your face holes. Who better to ask about the subject than Dr Anthony Fauci of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases!

For those wondering why I didn’t show a masked sneeze as a comparison - I did try but I couldn’t make myself sneeze again in a mask before this video had to come out. I’ll keep trying and maybe put it on social. It’s an easy camera set up. I am letting my nose relax after huffing half a shaker of ground pepper 😂. As we covered in the interview though, it’s not sneezing that is the biggest culprit. Sneezing isn’t actually a symptom of COVID. The dangers come from the lax attitude one gets when people AREN’T coughing and sneezing. TALKING aerosolizes particles in an equally dangerous way. The sneeze is in this video because of the gross/interesting visual, but what we should take away from this is what the footage of talking shows.

I watched it & still won't wear one when I can avoid doing so. Yes the virus is real & it has killed people, but the death toll has been grossly exaggerated & outright lied about in the US. You can say Trump downplayed it but is that really worse than panic? If what I just said angers you, redirect that rage at the CDC, FDA or even drug store chains like CVS who sent people letters claiming they tested positive when they didn't even have the test done. There's too much money in this "pandemic" to ever know just how bad or not the virus actually is. So just trust yourself, if you feel fine then you are.

@@hollyw9177 I'm sorry but they acknowledged that at least some reported covid deaths could of been caused by another preexisting condition. But to "be on the safe side" anyone who dies while having corona is counted as dying from it. Unfortunately that's just not how reality works. If they didn't count every possible death as being from corona there wouldn't be as much effort being put into a vaccine. Lying to encourage progress still doesn't make it right.

@@Spoooie In China it's pretty bad, but in Japan where I live air pollution is not a big deal (felt worse back in Paris honestly), although we do have high PM 2.5 peak days a few times a year, mostly when unfavorable winds come from China. But most masks don't have a big effect on those particules, apart from keeping your breath moist which can help reduce throat irritation.
Can't speak for other countries but people in Japan can wear facemasks for lots of reason : when you're sick or under the weather and don't want to pose a risk to your coworkers and friends, to cover acne, when you're too lazy (or late) to put makeup on, to protect yourself from pollen allergies or yes, sometimes pollution, or just simply force of habit ! Lots of people are also shy/reserved and also use masks as a social interaction barrier, same as using headphones to keep people from talking to you, makes them feel more safe and confortable maybe.
So people wearing masks were very common even before 2020, but not everyone is wearing one all the time, very far from it. But yeah it's so common there's literally 0 stigma about it and you will never stop to ask yourself why someone is wearing one, that would be like asking yourself why someone is wearing glasses xD

I've never left a comment on UA-cam before, but I felt compelled to. I highly doubt Gavin will even see this but on the off chance he does, I want to say thank you. I've loved the Slow Mo videos for years and I've been grateful to have them to enjoy and educate me.
My experience of Gav is that putting himself out there like this isn't his usual thing, it's typically not him being filmed, and I imagine this must have been difficult and uncomfortable. I just wanted to say I'm proud of him for stepping outside of his comfort zone to support a greater cause and to contribute to something he believes in. Not only would it be nerve wracking to shoot the video, but to put himself in the middle of a controversial issue, knowing the backlash he could face, that's bravery. It takes courage to step up, it takes courage to use your platform in such a way as to help others, especially knowing his audience is "the internet" and knowing how vicious it can be out here in the comments. So thank you Gav for standing up for what you believe, for helping others, and thank you to the whole team for all they have contributed over the years.
And try not to take the negative comments too seriously! What you do matters and is appreciated by so many!

@@milliosmiles5160 Yes there is mask litter but that doesn't mean you shouldn't wear one. The risk of infection by a discarded mask is likely incredibly low unless you're rubbing your face on it. The whole point of the masks is to stop that projectile spit that is too light to fall to the ground. It's better off being caught within the mask, wether it's on the ground or in the trash, rather than floating around in the air.

      1. once you got the virus (during incubation period 0-10 days or til you have first simptoms) mask will help multiply the virus (quantity of viral load) and reenter your body-lungs and destroy it, recovery period is longer and chances to need oxygen and to be ventilated in ER are higer. 2 wearing mask is a vector of transmitting covid19, every 2-3 hours you must change mask (n95) mask that you can't breathe throught and you touch it frequently to reposition (example: if virus is on a door handle or paper money you likely will touch your face/mask in next minutes so mask help spread the virus) 3. mask allows virus to enter body and never filters properly the air cause it allows to breathe around (n95 ones low airflow, fabric ones are useless anyway)
