Some of my viewers want every video to be realistic, others want every video to be manga-style. My approach is to the balance the two as best I can. Thanks for watching! ~Mark

Wow! I kinda thought screen tones were just special stencils that magically made a pattern of dots for you after you rubbed pencil on them. I have a new respect for people who actually use those. :)

Fun_With_G-Mod I used to read a 1990 era how-to manga book that teaches you how to replicate these patterns BY HAND with inking... So it used to be even more painstaking I think

Take a look at the art of the manga Akira. It goes on for 2,500 pages and took the artist over 10 years to complete, not just because of tedious screentones, but because of how detailed and meticulous his art is. Stuff like Akira really makes me respect artists as determined as they were.

I don't know how I missed this video! I was just letting UA-cam go on and on with its auto-play and came across a "My Mangaka LIFE" video. The girl, Lizbeth R. Jimenez, says she does still do traditional manga, along with the screen tones. So, theres one, at least, that still does it this way. Thats cool. I immediately looked to see if you did a video, and you had! It's a really cool technique.. but yes, tedious, and I imagine the hand cramping that would go along with it! haha
    Love all of your videos!

thats just stupid, stop dragging people down, with stuff "i can,'t" "i would never be able to do this" you know, i dont give a fuck if you think you cant but dont drag me with you because im trying to be as good. and if you're so sure that you're drawning that much you should have some hope/fate on urself and ]not make such whiny comments. sorry for not expressing myself correctly but i think u get it.

    • @CarthagoMike
