If you are in the market for a 3 row vehicle from Chevrolet we have the Traverse, Tahoe, and Suburban. Depending on the trim you have the option of a second row bench seat vs second row bucket seats. Within this video is a little food for thought on which may work better for your particular situation.

Hi Dave happy to say I joined the Chevy family! Went to work as a dealer tech at a combo Chevy, Cadillac, and Subaru store. Customer backed out of their factory order. Happy to say I’m the proud owner of a 23 Chevy Colorado ZR2 🎉 Your content definitely had a part in my decision to give give Chevrolet a try. Thanks for your energy and passion for the industry.

Bench 100%. Our first Yukon (2005) had the buckets, and I hated them. The second (2009) and third (2016, current) Yukon had/have the bench, because that's what I factory ordered (second) and found at the dealership (third). That AT4 Tahoe is a nice vehicle.

I would choose Bench every single day of the week, 365 days a year Dave. It’s simply a better option in my opinion eve if you have a car seat inside. The Bench seat definitely works better in the long term and as a family expands, I’d rather have a vehicle for many years with a bench as it would mean better passenger capability in the long run, while having a family. The only reason to convince be otherwise for a captain chair/bucket seats is when the kids grow up and have their own vehicles to drive in and that family vehicles become less necessary.

Hi Dave when I saw the Headline in your latest video I had too watch this video. Back in July of 2022 I purchased a 2022 Tahoe RST with the 2nd Row Bench Seats with the Luxury Package. Dave it took me 14 months to find and purchase this vehicle. All Tahoe RST with the Luxury Package seem to always have Captain Chairs!! I was Persistent and finally found my vehicle this is a real thing only with the Captain Chairs. I guess to each there own. Great Video I'm not alone. Mike From Raining California.

Hi Dave: I ordered a 2023 Colorado Z-71 last Memorial Day. It was built 7 weeks ago, without my spray-on bed liners and they added the useless (off road) 20 inch wheels. Truck is still still in MO. This is crazy, so just going to tell the dealer when it does arrive just to go ahead as sell it. Just going to keep my 2019 Colorado Z-71, which has hood struts, bigger back seat that does have folding seat backs. GM has lost me.

Dave - as a person who owns a 2022 4Runner and a 2023 Bolt EUV - it would still be great to hear more about your recent customer who traded their 5th gen 4Runner in on a Blazer. I am always interested in the reasons why people switch from Toyota to GM - especially going from something like a 4Runner to a Blazer...just no comparison and it can't be gas mileage because you know up front that 4Runner gas mileage isn't great!

3 years ago I got the XT6 with the bench seats by accident, and I LOVED it so much that my new car now has the bench seats as well. It was my only stipulation, i didnt care about any other features. I have 3 under 3 and two strollers fit along with a cooler and some other stuff i might need. Its the better option in my opinion. As they lose the carseats i think bucket will be better.

We’ve had 1 Yukon and 2 Suburbans all bench seats in the middle. Initially child seats were outsides of the second row. Then the oldest moved to the third row passenger with a booster back in the very early 2000’s while leaving the single bench permanently folded forward. Then the middle child moved to the 3rd row driver and the baby seat was in the middle of the center row. Easiest way to add 2 guests in the 2nd row and travel comfortably with 7.

we have a 22' calligraphy and I believe its the best bang for your money however there are a few things that are annoying,
    - overhead buttons do not light up at night so your just pressing whatever you can at night to try and turn the light on (this was changed for 2024)
    - no wireless apple carplay if you get the calligraphy trim (even in the new refreshed model)
    - 3rd row has no lights
    - fuel tank is too small in my opinion, average about 280miles in country/small mountain driving.
    - lots of complaints about dealers (this depends where you are) I service our own because the free oil changes have to be scheduled 1.5 months in advance.
Pros: -interior is really nice especially for this price range (~$50K fully loaded)
    - good interior space and storage
    - engine has enough power
    - headlights are really good at night
    - 2nd row has heated/vented seats
    - Sunshades in rear doors (really wish Tahoe would have this)

It’s funny when I bought my wife’s 2017 Tahoe we only wanted the bench and even back then it was not as easy to find. When I replaced that with her current 23 Yukon we only wanted captains chairs.

I have been in a 3-row SUV a few times in my life when being shuttled to or from an airport when traveling. I think I have only been in the third row a couple of times. I am not a big guy and things might have changed since the last time I was in the third row, but that was an experience I would not wish on any person more than 12-years old. Personally, I do not understand why someone would want a vehicle with a row of seats that were not accessible by their own entry doors or accessible with a near normal height passageway. It would seem to me that a mini van would make much more sense if your family is large enough to need 3 rows of seats. At least a mini van has very large side entry doors and usually has a good-sized middle passageway. To make matters even more vexing for me, is many of the 3-row SUVs seem to give up trunk room for the third row of seats. I would think that families large enough to need more than 5 seats (2 front, 3 rear) would also need plenty of trunk space for groceries when near home and luggage when traveling. If someone could explain to me why these vehicles are popular, I am all ears. Thank you.

Dave, I prefer the buckets or, as they’re sometime called, the Captain’s chairs. My last BMW X7 had the bench, this one has the buckets. I’ve found the buckets to be more comfortable for some reason. However, BMW, like Chevrolet/GMC/Cadillac doesn’t offer a center console, which would be nice for those of us who don ‘t have kids needing to go back and forth between the second and third rows. And I can give you my impressions of that Palisade right now: UGLY!
