    I had no intention of watching this video. But it came up on auto play while I was doing the dishes. I saw how exciting Jim was so I let it play. I'm so glad I did! I love to hear people speak with passion and knowledge gained over years of experience. As I'm writing this, I'm still wiping a tear over that dang ficus. Only survivor from the whole collection. WOW. Thank you so much for sharing this.

      I also got to that part and teared up! I actually read your comment before and thought that I wouldn't react the same way. 💚

    I didn't intend to watch this but I am so glad I did. What a seemingly nice, nice man. I learned a lot, enough to know I'm not cut out for growing bonsai. Thank you for bringing this to us. He needs a UA-cam channel call The Bonsai Guy.

      Yes, the 2x day watering made me realize that I should appreciate this incredible artistry through someone else. Milos really expressed the dedication required without being patronizing or dismissive though.

    I think bonsai is like having children, you have to nurture them to have them grow. A lot of care in watering, fertilizing, bending of the branches, clipping to make them just right, you can’t go on vacation and leave them to fend for themselves. He has done an excellent job of taking care of his (children) in my opinion and has beautiful bonsai. 🌺💚🙃

    AWESOME. Thank you Milos for sharing. Can we schedule another video when it comes time to prune, style and repot? Also, if the bonsai collection is that nice, how spectacular must the rest of the yard be? Any chance of a tour for that as well? Watched it twice, time to get back to work. Thanks again

    I appreciate the enthusiasm this gentleman has for bonsai. I started bonsai two years ago in Pacific Northwest and truly found my passion in trees and art. This gentleman is very thorough and serious about his family of bonsai and I have become this way too in my retirement and through Covid. Strong support from like minded people is crucial and I’m thankful you entertained this Avenue of flora design. Thank you

    Many years ago at the Cincinnati Flower Show, I was awestruck by a bonsai azalea in full bloom - it was stunning. Milos obviously has a great love of the art along with an incredible collection. Very gracious of him to share it on your channel. 💚

    So interesting. Glad you mentioned this video in your Q&A today - I really enjoyed it. I don’t know anything about bonsai and I have so much more appreciation of it now. It is a little mind blowing to be quite honest. And how do they keep that root ball so tiny - I wonder if we add lava rock to potting soil for other (non-bonsai) plants if maybe if could benefit the roots of those other plants.

    I have an 'in-ground bonsai' - an oak tree that I planted in the pot into the ground about 7 years ago. It's grown about 3" in that time. Not a true bonsai, for sure, but it's been fun to prune it and shape it through the years.

    Very nice Jim. I watch Peter Chan "Herons Bonsai" every Sunday morning early. Milos has an awesome display. Have tried my hand at Fig Bosai and gotten some very nice results. What Milos says about the soil being too wet as I found out. Last winter lost a number of Japanese Maple starts because the new irrigation timer was on both in the day and the night. Surprisingly forsythia doesn't like the wet feet either and died. And the crepe myrtle bonsai just keeps putting out 2' branches which ruins the shape. So I've had to sadly give up on them. Hopefully I'll be able to connect with Triangle Bonsai Society. Nice to know their high quality.

    What an amazing collection of beautiful trees! I have a lavender and a rosemary that have both formed a thick woody trunk. They’re in terra cotta pots and I’ve left them to sort of develop their own form. I’m wondering if he has used either of those in creating bonsai? And is there a reason for using such shallow pots?

    • @matthouck9707
      @matthouck9707 2 роки тому

      The shallow pots are just part of bonsai. A simple explanation is the depth of the pot is supposed to be in proportion to the width of the trunk. There's plenty of forums and articles that can provide better more detailed explanations than this though if you are interested
