I personally liked the maple's overgrown branches that added some explicit asymmetry to the tree. As long as it's healthy, I'm sure it can evoke happiness. He is surely the bonsai master, but sometimes trees aren't as lost as we deem them to be.
My older brother has been ill for years . My son and l began taking care of his yard ,garden and lawn. l took to heart that idea that our plants outlive us they are a legacy l guess. You teach us about so much. Thank you

I just ordered some Chinese Elm seeds to start my first bonsai. I don't have a big garden, heck I don't even have a balcony really... But I hope I can produce something nice in the next few years and beyond!

I just restarted my interest in bonsai. Of all of the videos on the internet I find Peter’s to be the most informative and enjoyable to watch. Every time I rewatch a video I pick up a different technique or style from Peter.
As a layperson, I am amazed at how rough you seem with the trees and their roots at times, as well as how drastic the initial cuts seem to me. Again, as a layperson. I know you see the tree's design, but to someone who does not yet, it can seem almost careless. I'm fascinated. Thank you for sharing.
I think watching you wire large trees is both informative and therapeutic. Watching your hands work, bending the wire and guiding the tree is absolutely fascinating, especially with the close ups on the tree. You're talking though how you want the tree to be shaped and as you progress I as a viewer also begin to see this shape. Not to mention there's always some tid bit of knowledge you're giving out. It would be very easy to watch you wire whole trees, though that might just be because I'm still very new to the hobby. Great video as always!

I really like how you say, if someone thinks they know it all, they know nothing. You are so right. Also that you say everyone, has a different way, that can work.
Its nice know and see that even neglected trees stand a chance of looking amazing after some work… even if once it was very well worked on and has the structure set… I say this because I’m still new and everything I do is based on advice and science, not personal experience lol… I’d definitely have repotted and pruned though if they were mine, it’s so fun and relaxing, the day just goes in a flash when gardening !

I love watching how he works, and takes his time sorting the branches while keeping a general idea of what he wants in mind. I have been watching for a couple of years now, and working on my own bonsais, most of them as starter plants purchased about 30 years ago. I had no guidance, only the desire to keep them going. Gradually, they are improving, some have undergone major changes which has made all the difference. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Thank You for your beautiful description of the trees Sir. In nature we do observe trees living naturally in similar conditions. We see trees on mountain tops , and rocky areas where very little soil exists , but the trees thrive , they are locked into the very cracks of the rocks , they are watered by rain only , whatever nutrition they get is from nature itself ! I have not been taught by bonsai masters , other than the many You Tube master bonsai craftspersons. But look at nature , look for the trees growing , surviving in even cracks in concrete sidewalks sometimes . Your trees in this episode show just how resilient nature is , how after being planted over 50 years ago , and watered in such small ceramic pots they live . Just like the trees on the mountain tops!!
It is nice to see how intentional and patient you are with your care. It is very refreshing to see a reminder that you need to take time and care to do things correctly. This is a good reminder to not doing things hastily and mindlessly.
Praise the LORD for UA-cam. BOOKS are a good way to learn things, but SEEING things live and hearing someone speak about how to do things really helps. Some people are more visual. The videos are so educational. We really need these. I look at videos for everything, cooking, horticulture, knitting, quilting. Its amazing.
I want to be as half as wise as him in two lifetimes…the tradition, the training, and everything else about bonsai has always relayed life lessons throughout hundreds of years of a beautiful tradition. The patience, the determination, and everything else to create comes more easily with age. Plus trees that are passed down, ( a lot of bonsai are) like he said, keep the history alive and thriving. Yes I love the concept of just being custodians of the trees, the trees outliving us, and the memory of someone living on after they have passed away through the trees they were custodians of. If climate change knocks all of us off, at least the trees in our gardens in our cities will be monuments to the lives we lived.
Your Art is soooo beautiful! I love watching you pruning and wiring every second. I even think of trying myself, I have two Candidates for bonsaiing: An eight year old Pommegranade Plant that already is trimmed a lot into treeform (pommegranades are not trees but bushes) which i raised from seed (beautiful small leafs), and a Jade Tree which is 30 years+ old and almost too heavy to carry around.Thank you very much for the inspiration!
I discovered that my wannabe Ficus Bonsai got outta control and I have to tame it. Give it a hair cut. Your videos inspire to do this work. I usually let my plants go as wild as possible.

There are too many slightly neglected or overlooked trees in my collection at the moment with rampant growth due to the lighter, warmer days (although they are getting watered regularly.) a full weekend of removing wire, trimming, styling and reviewing is overdue 😊
This guy gives great honest advice. Also flames his customers for abusing their trees I love that. Some home truths can keep you disciplined to look after them in future
