Thank you for doing these garden tours and nurseries tours . Love all the information and expertise from the experts!! This is like a private tour that you can’t get even if you want to pay money for !
Wow this is spectacular and giving me great hints in my tropical/woodland shade garden !! Love the rock arrangements! Thanks Tony and to you Jim!! Awesome!!!
Jim this was such a treat as I am a shade-garden lover! The ferns, carexes, and wild gingers immediately caught my eye. Juniper is on my bucket-list this year. Thanks
I have to say these PD videos with Tony are amazing! He’s so packed with information and knowledge. So cool! Please keep up these visits. It really adds a ton for when I visit and I see the plants he talks about that improbably would had otherwise passed. .
This is going in my saved video list, there are just so many plant compositions that I want to copy. What a wonderful video! I am in Georgia so visitig the gardens in person is not an option.
I want to make this a day trip. It looks so peaceful. I am happy Jasper was introduced and KitCat got a reference from the past videos, she was a scene stealer.
My adult daughter exclaimed, "Mom are you gardening the woods???" I had already ordered some trillium grandiflorum from PD. Seems that I need to go back and pick up a few more woodland items. This video had so many great ideas. Glad to learn that many of the plants are hardy in Zone 6b. Thanks again Jim and Tony!
I’m going over this year for sure. I have a good shade garden ( I thought...). Boy, so many plants to use. Exciting to see some of his in my garden. Thanks for bringing this to us, Jim.
Enjoy seeing Plant Delights nursery. I used to order semi often from them, along with Heronswood when Dan Hinkley owned it, because they were 2 places I could find unusual and rare plants not found anywhere else. I still would be ordering from Plant Delights except between the deer eating everything and bad health the past years, I just don't get to garden much these days. Anyway, it's fun and interesting to see places and people I only knew from their catalogs and online.
Oh wow, this is a great video! There are so many different varieties of plants I never considered! Please take us on another visit to the shade garden.
wow! amazing video! I "inherited" a almost complete shade garden from the previous owner so I have been learning about shade plants. I thought that I had almost exhausted my research, but this video showed me so many more interesting shade plants!
Glad to see at least a few natives covered. That wild ginger and pachysandra procumbens are on my short list for things to add to the yard this year. We desperately need more native plants and less of the fragmentation caused by non-natives.
So beautiful. What a lovely to spend the day. I have learned so much from viewing your channel. My go to when I need advice. You are a wealth of knowledge...priceless. What is your suggestion on how to rid crab grass growing up and between my Hydrangea Particula. The plant has been in the ground for 2 years. I tried to pull it up but this prove to be pointless 😪 as I am not getting to the root of the matter. What herbicide would you suggest. I thought of pull the Hydrangea up cleaning 🤔 out the area and then replanting. Help 🙏 please.
He doesn't like to use herbicide, he said so many times, but one that i was using at the end of summer gets the job done, the hummingbird vines was all over my garden, I will give you the name if you want to give a try
Just a note - it is illegal in most states to dig up trillium and other wildflowers from the wild. I found companies that seed propagate them instead and they do grow.
Great video! I’m a new subscriber and loving the content. Especially being in a similar growing zone and climate here in Zone 7b Mississippi we can grow the same things for the part. I love the episodes about plants people normally wouldn’t think would grow in our areas like agave and palms. I grow several species of cold hardy palms here in North Mississippi so couldn’t help but notice the beautiful palmettos in the video. I don’t think you have made one yet but would be really cool if you could make a video on cold hardy palms for our climates. I grow many of them here but would be a cool video!
Such a beautiful garden. Would love to visit some day. When you talk with the guy that does the stone work could you also discuss ground cover that works well around stepping stones in shade. Thanks so much!
Oh good. I have a narrow side yard in Colorado that is sloped, windy, shady, dry, rocky, compacted clay, and has a severe bindweed problem along with other weeds. 1. What's worse, Roundup or landscape fabric for bindweed? 2. How many layers of cardboard do I need? 3. Do I put potting mix between the cardboard and mulch? Will the cardboard and mulch slide down? 4. Will taprooted plants struggle, or punch through the layers? Thank you. Eventually, I'd like to fill it with asters, shooting stars, columbines, prairie and common violets, pansies, maybe alpine strawberries, etc.
Thank you, son beautiful... When do you germinates Hibiscus I will wait this vídeo. I have seed of Luna Hibiscus I'm going to try sow it but I don't know, I search ir, My zone is 6a. Bless
Now wait just a minute. Adult Ivy? This is fascinating. See a few on their website, would love to know what variety is next to the Cast Iron Plant and Yew at 15:00
The Carex and wild ginger and there are trilliums in your area as well. One issue with saying some of the native things are hardy is that you have different ones for the north than in the south.
Almost everything in this video is hardy into zone 6 and some even hardier than that.
Thank you! I was wondering as I'm in 6!
I bet you and Tony are hardy to at least Zone 3. 😊 Great info and videography!
I could listen to Tony all day. His wealth of knowledge is astounding.
“Landscaping in drifts of one” - I love that!
Thank you for doing these garden tours and nurseries tours . Love all the information and expertise from the experts!! This is like a private tour that you can’t get even if you want to pay money for !
He's definitely the right person to ask about the subject, a wealth of knowledge.
So many unique shade garden plants!! Thanks Jim for showing them and so incredible so see the wealth of knowledge Tony has! thank u
So many great plants and ideas. I’m sure I will watch this one more than once.
Love Tony Avent he is my hero. ❤
Tony is amazing! I'm glad you asked that question about his memory. I was curious about that too. 😊 And fab video!
So nice to highlight some of the woodland natives of the S.E.. I can lose myself along a N. Georgia stream.
Great vid guys!
Thanks for watching! These are fun and I have many more planned with some amazing people
Wow this is spectacular and giving me great hints in my tropical/woodland shade garden !! Love the rock arrangements! Thanks Tony and to you Jim!! Awesome!!!
"Landscaping in drifts of one" lol x 🌺💮🌷🌸
immediately grabbed my notepad. yay!
I'm glad you gave shout outs to the cats! Great video overall.
Special. Keep the Master's interviews coming!!!

It sure is worth it!
what a wealth of knowledge that you all share!!
Keep em coming! Loving these videos with Tony Avent!
Jim, you must have read my mind on what I’m looking to plant this spring. 🤗 Thanks so much for this video
Great video, so many more shade plants than I ever imagined.
I want to make this a day trip. It looks so peaceful. I am happy Jasper was introduced and KitCat got a reference from the past videos, she was a scene stealer.
This is perfect timing! Thank you for covering this topic 🤗

I have some really tough shade areas. I’m going to see if Rodeas grow in the Pacific Northwest. Thanks for this video!
Thank you another excellent video. The varieties were amazing.
Wonderful tour...thank you!!! Also...KUDOS for the person who segmented the red 'play line'.
I’m going over this year for sure. I have a good shade garden ( I thought...). Boy, so many plants to use. Exciting to see some of his in my garden. Thanks for bringing this to us, Jim.
Good timing Jim. I've got a wooded backyard that needs some shade plant ideas. I guess Plant delights is going to get a call. lol

Great video. Always looking for interesting shade plants. Would love to visit there some day.
Beautiful plants 🪴 Thank You Tony for sharing 🥰
I love this garden💐💐💐
wow! amazing video! I "inherited" a almost complete shade garden from the previous owner so I have been learning about shade plants. I thought that I had almost exhausted my research, but this video showed me so many more interesting shade plants!
Gotta get out there! I need all of those shade plants!!
It is an amazing place!
Amazing video!
I learned so much!! Thank you Jim.
I love carex. So many different types. I really need to get some Rhodea japonica and some cast iron plants
Great video, Jim! Thank you. Cannot wait to do a deep dive on many of these plants. Your videos always make me explore new options for my landscape.
100% . Same!
Glad to see at least a few natives covered. That wild ginger and pachysandra procumbens are on my short list for things to add to the yard this year. We desperately need more native plants and less of the fragmentation caused by non-natives.
Love that Rohdea Japonica, evergreen 😃 Hoping to add this one to my garden. Really enjoyed this. Thanks Jim 🌳🌳🌳🐕
Great tour..... valuable content on plant diversity. Go carex!
Awesome info and so is Tony!
Wow great video! Always learn so much….Thanks Jim and Tony!!
Great tour! Thank you.

Great video! Hope you can get back there when the Lycoris are in bloom.
Bye Jim I hope you do more videos with Tony!!!!
Just a note - it is illegal in most states to dig up trillium and other wildflowers from the wild. I found companies that seed propagate them instead and they do grow.
My guess at the time was that Tony was throwing a bit of shade on that practice.
Wonder video, I’m totally amazed thank you.

Irish Moss and Scotch Moss, (not an all inclusive list)
@@staciejackson7497 thanks for the suggestions. One area is a bit dry so I’m not sure if they’d work there.
Loved this! some some great ideas from this video, plus I think I found their website to order from.
Thanks for the tour. It was really interesting. He could have mentioned if these plants are deer resistant.
What’s that plant in the middle of the polypodium vulgare ferns?

What kind of soil is at Juniper Level? Typical Piedmont rocky? Clay? Incredibly useful video.
Great ideas for my shade garden here in Washington State zone 8b. I also love the black plant labels. Who makes them? Thanks for sharing.
Black mondo grass i would like to have in my garden, is it annuals or perennials?
Evergreen perennial
Just goes to show that there’s plenty of beauty in nature without needing a flower on it.
Thank you, son beautiful... When do you germinates Hibiscus I will wait this vídeo. I have seed of Luna Hibiscus I'm going to try sow it but I don't know, I search ir, My zone is 6a. Bless

Great video! Would love to add the rohdea to my garden. Is it rabbit resistant?
Since you are so south it would have been helpful to mention zones
Plant delights website is very informative, and lists it on the search, without having to click into each plant.
I’m guessing all of the plants you’ve shown us are for a zone 7 plus?❄️💚🙃
Almost everything in this video is hardy at least in zone 6 and some much more
Being in zone 5 any chance any of these would survive
The Carex and wild ginger and there are trilliums in your area as well. One issue with saying some of the native things are hardy is that you have different ones for the north than in the south.
👋😃
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌿🌳💚
💜😍
1:39 Rohdea are not evergreen hostas. Deer don’t touch Rohdea.
Very true!
Great selections of plants but 50$ shipping for 4"pots.
Holy smokes man!!
