About the 300 stacks, that is to make your Sims have more health, and because of it, making it harder for them to die. As said by Kozmik, you can also drop blood rush for the leech curse with the transmittable rune/blood flask. Another piece of advice I can give is that Funerary pick always comes with vitality. So if you are gonna cube 11, try it on scythe of the cycle instead for more chances of a good one. As HurricaneBacklash reminded me, don't get shield and channelling at the same time. You need to lose life to do more damage with novas. Shield makes you take no dmg from mobs. Channelling, your manual novas/curses don't cost life.
