I run a nonprofit. This will allow us to Store things more efficiently. And keep us from having to rent some sort of storage unit because we are currently running out of storage space.
Thank you for posting this video. I did not use your plans but I could see how you put yours together well enough. I used 2 X 3 rails for the supports instead of 2 x 2 but I now have a structure that accommodates 25 bins exactly like yours in our lower floor storage room. We loved the concept and now we are enjoying the convenience since we can access each bin without having to pull the others. Superb idea. Current lumber prices made this a $500+ Canadian dollars build but we think it was worth it.
This is a great plan! I would like to organize my wife’s holiday decoration area in the garage. Right now, we have several different sizes of boxes sitting free style against one wall. Very inefficient. This plan would maximize the space I have for the decorations she has!
Hey thanks DD, this is similar to what I have been thinking about doing for my storage solution in a new pickup truck canopy that I'm about to have installed. I will be building a narrow (24 in wide) camping bed with storage below it on the drivers side area, but I think that a rack like yours would work great on the opposite passenger side space. I would also top it off with a piece of plywood or melamine type material for use as a table top/shelf. Please let me know how I can get the plans.
Now that I have just moved, my new shop needs some serious organization. This customizable tub storage rack will accomplish this nicely. Just what the new show needs!
I want to completely redo our basement storage. I needed something inexpensive but professional looking. I appreciate your easy explanation and the simplicity
This is just what we need in our storage building. I decorate for the holidays and seasons and this would make getting it down and putting it up so much easier for my husband.
Great post. cost effective is nt name of the game now these days. looking to build this exact 4x5 one in my garage since i have a 2 car tandeum garage and need to maxmize space on what side.
This is a great idea! I just recently purchased a new home with a wide open unfinished basement and I am going to need to organize my basement. Great video!
Thank you Dado Dad. This was a great design. I tried it last weekend. I had to make a few changes, as I always do lol. I needed these to be separate since I did not have a full wall section to put these on. In other words each column is by itself so I can squeeze these in between other garage items. So I used 2 screws in each end of each 2x2 for stability and then added a corner brace to each corner on the back side of left over MDF (10" x 10" x 14"). Then, just for more stability, I added metal 4 inch corner braces to the back side of the front 2x4's. Oh and one other thing I did was get some 2 x 4 inch laser labels to label each tote since my handwriting is the worst ever. Thank you and take care.
This is a great looking design~! Not using the ply is a great idea, so long as the totes are sturdy enough to support their load. This is exactly what I need in my workshop for the various odds & ends that I have cluttering up horizontal surfaces. I just found this video, so hopefully not too late to get your plan since this is a few years old. I've liked & subscribed. Thanks much~!
I NEED this for my storage. With this video, I think I can do it myself! Can't wait to get to get the plans mentioned at the end of the video. Thanks so much!
Absolutely fantastic! This will make the wife so happy and make my life more organized when storing things thanks for the great video all I need now are the plans ! 🇨🇦👍
I need a shelf like this for all the storage boxes sitting on top of each other in my shed right now. I use these storage boxes for books, crafting supplies, clothes, and anything else I need to store.
I love this idea. I live in a very small house and this would be a great build in my shed for organization. Plus, my back would love it no more stacking and restacking!
I love this idea. I keep a lot of garage stuff in containers but I’m constantly moving them around to get to what I need. Floating shelves would be so helpful.
I'm currently organizing the garage, I already have most of my stuff in the Costco totes and hoping to build your rack this weekend. This is definitely my storage solution...
Due to an electrical housefire, I'm currently storing quite a few items with these exact totes, and I plan to use this video (with any link or plans I might receive in exchange for liking this video, subscribing, and writing this comment) to construct this exact shelving, on-site, affordably and quickly. That's the plan anyway. Thank you.
Fantastic solution for storage! I’m excited to build for shed storage, I use these type of bins to store camping, hiking, kayaking and backyard entertainment/games and just grab the appropriate bin and go at a moment’s notice but they are just stacked. This is the perfect way to store them in an organized fashion.
I’d love the plans. I’m going to organize my garage, and try to fit a tool storage/work-space that would take up about a four-tote square between two of the columns.
Love this idea. My bins are stacked on top of each other - so I have to move the top 3 bins to get to the bottom bin. Can't wait to start building this.
Great idea! I went out and purchased 36 bins today . I'm going to built the rack to hold 6 bins across and 6 high. This should organize most of my garage and leave room to work on more projects !! I would really love to get a copy of the plans also. Thank you
This is exactly what we have been looking for! We have shelves that were built when we bought our house in our basement but we want something more efficient and that will hold more. Thanks!
I probably would decorate more if I new I could go to one place and find everything. Right now containers are here and there and I end up grabbing one and forget the rest of the stuff. I would like to try this. It's a very good idea, thanks for sharing!
I run an events business and have been wanting to do this for awhile. I’m smaller and not as strong as my business partner and the bins we originally got were too large and heavy for me to get off of shelves and high places plus stacking and stacking is cumbersome. I plan on building this in our storage units and utilizing all the space we have!
I plan on using your storage idea to help with the limited space I have in my garage. This will allow me to clean up a lot of clutter into a nice clean and efficient way..
YOUR DESIGN IS PURE GENIOUS. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A SET OF YOUR PLANS SO THAT I COULD EASILY ORGANIZE MY STACKS OF TOTES. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR SET OF PLANS. GOD BLESS YOU.
Thank you for supporting the channel Paige. The plans can be downloaded at dadodad.com. I hope you love having your stuff organized with this system as much as I do!
This will work great in the unfinished part of our basement. We have over 30 of the Black totes in 2 different sizes so I will adjust the plans to accomodate both sizes...
Just got a new 16x10 shed installed and I need this before the wife starts cramming everything in there!
My garage is an absolute mess!!!! This will definitely help out with getting it organized.
Love this idea. Really like that you can pull out totes for easy access and stacking. Looking forward to trying to replicate over the winter holiday.
Thanks Aaron!
This looks perfect…how do I get the plans?
Just built this over the weekend, plans worked perfectly!

This is a great plan! I would like to organize my wife’s holiday decoration area in the garage. Right now, we have several different sizes of boxes sitting free style against one wall. Very inefficient. This plan would maximize the space I have for the decorations she has!
Be careful, you’ll start referring to holidays based on how many bins they fill!
Lol I came here for this exact reason wife’s holiday shit 😂😂😅
We have a basement that has wasted space with entire floor littered with unorganized things. Would like measurements for 4x4 space to start!
I did what you said and still no plans to build it. Can you pls swnd me them
