Noting is built to last nowadays especially games, they are designed so that you get instant gratification, no need for tactics, planning, just hit them hard with the core gameplay asap so they get bored after a few weeks. Then hit them with a DLC, then another and another until 12 months passes and they reskin the game, hype the fuck out of it with commercials, hire some sellout streamers and tubers to lie about it and then here we go again. The big companies do not want you playing their games for years and this is why BF1942 style games may never appear again, I feel sorry for kids now as they will never know what good gaming was all about.
What do you think mack? battlefield 1942 hd remake nothing removed just things added such as more weapons tanks planes battleships more maps in different situations and u boats that would be a game i would happily throw 60 dollars at.
I agree, i only buy indie games these days, big titles are crap, i a just going to play cities skylines for the next couple of months and wait till some other games come out, espesially kingdom come deliverence (i thought it was called that way) looks great, the devs are a mix wich are from arma and a couple other games, since arma is still something that isn't based on unreal tournament fps shooters like cod or bf these days i think it's in good hands, btw what games are you looking foreward to buy/play?
Two games are coming out soon Mack. *Witcher 3* and a new first person medieval fighter RPG game from an indie developer named Warhorse Studios. The game is called *Kingdom Come: Deliverance* Those 2 games... are most likely or at least hopefully gonna be the best and long lasting big games we'd had since 2012 Those two games should most definately appeal to ol' school gamers like us.
Also the rifles that you get with the pre-order are worse than the ones in the game.... only the ACWR is kinda holding it's own, but still the m16a3, m416 and AKM rule them all.
And it's not the same game... you look what happens on the screen... the shooting mechanics, the movement mechanics, the pace, the enviroment, map design, game modes, they all play differently in-between games or between CoD and Battlefield Hardline. Also battlefield 1942 had much more flaws than this. So don't pretend it was perfect. I got battlefield 1942 on release date and I can say that I have at least 5000 hours in it.
Crazy Psycho too true. If you look up the stats those three weapons you just named are head and shoulders statistically above the rest. Like why did they even put the rest of the ARs in the game?
nerd/jock the rest are carbines, that's why, but why do they put the carbines on the operator? Why not the mechanic? Makes more sence. Carbines will always weaker than assasult rifles.
Evan Lynch this is pc and a 720p video, I'm sure it would be high settings as mac has a decent comp but the textures just look plain as fuck, really low detail
The problem is people have real low standards and are willing to pay money for crap games and then the DLCs which are the same price as the game itself
Those under 20-25 (give or take) didn't grow up with Medal of Honor, Battlefield 1942 and the first two Call of Duties. I can hardly blame them for not knowing how awesome war gaming was back in those days. And yeah, it's probably the success of those days that killed gaming forever. We played those games for years. Hundreds of hours, thousands of hours even, for only 30-40 euros. This is when marketing c*nts came in, figured that it's better to build a broken game that requires patching and loads of DLC, and to always remember never to fully patch the game. This way a year later you can sell the same game with the promise this time everything's fixed. But it never is. How long did the black/white tv last? The color tv? The first flatscreen? And now in just a few years we've gone 720p, 1080p, 4k. You buy something and the next year it's marketed as obsolete. And you really think they weren't able to deliver that quality before? They could have, but that wouldn't have made them the most money. In this day and age the way to make money is to sell something that is broken so your consumers constantly need a fix before you release a better version of the drug that will hook your users once again. Did I say drug? I meant product.
very good points. I def agree with the first sentence, for example...they wouldnt even know about those games and what would make them want to play them ? Its all about graphics these dayz.
Googol Plus Sukcz Im 21 and I grew up with MoH,first CoD,classic strategy games like Cossacks,RPG's like Morrowind and such, and i honestly judge every single today's game based on those classics because none of these newer games came even close to surpassing the old ones.Someone above mentioned nostalgia...it's not a god damn nostalgia it's just a rational sense of quality and content and can't help but agree with Mack 100% on all of these WAB videos.I think it's because all these devs weren't as big before and actually had to build up a fan base by producing quality games, then later on when they got big, younger generations came and heard from us that these devs make good games, they followed blindly by never trying the classics and just went on playing the new ones that are just utter piece of trash. But they no longer believe us when we tell them that they are wrong...in so many ways...
nemanja prkosovacki Maybe you are right. But I don't get it. I am 17 years old and I started playing fps games with cod mw2. I was a normal cod player that had shit aim, no sense for teamwork and didn't know any better. But some day I got sick of the same shit over and over again. My last cod was mw3 and than I tried bf3. I quickly realised that the game is more complicated and wanted to learn. I got better and better and when I tried cod again it seamed easyer. Now I am playing cs:go for 3 years and I realised that Bf wasn't even complicated. My point is that my generation and younger generations can't understand what makes a good game ( it's harder). I am lucky that I tried other games and made my personal opinion. Many od my real life friends are still buying the same game every year beliving that it's different and better.
I didn't just hear you say Battlefield 2 is shit.. in between Vietnam and BC.. BF2 is the best Battlefield game ever made, I love 1942 as well, but Battlefield 2 is always going to be the best, I don't know what you could possibly say to discredit this lol.
Worth A Buy Hey mack, if you like big maps and realistic warfare games, why don't you give Arma 3 a try? It obviously is a bit edgy but I've got some of my most adrenaline loaded (not cinematic action scene scriptet stuff) gaming moments in that game DPlan some CTI, King of the Hill, Invade & Annex and maybe some Wastland.
You're deluded if you think Battlefront is going to be any better. EA will milk the living shit out of it until it's a husk of a game, then DICE will be held responsible and shut down forever. RIP Battlefield.
Had 5000+ hours in swbf2,not really looking foward to swbf3. Why? DICE had said it already,it will be their own vision of swbf,it wont be a true sequel. I think it's EXTREMELY foolish to expect anything but a bf4 sw themed reskin and I honestly couldnt care for such garbage....
There are big maps in BF3 and BF 4. People do go for vehicles when they spawn in. There are aircraft carriers and landing crafts. I appreciate your criticisms for the newer battlefield games but I've played 1942 and I see a lot of the same things you claim aren't in the newer ones.
Bf3 is even worse on consoles, it's almost cod levels of map design. At least bf4 has golmud, and zavod, and resort, but then it has locker. Fuck locker.
***** "At least battlefield 4 was patched enough to be decent and fun but nowhere near the level that bad company 2 multiplayer was." Bad Company 2 still is loads of fun, there are still plenty of servers to play on and still plenty of players on them. I still have 1942 installed and play multiplayer on that occasionally too. I find them much more fun than the gameplay in 3 and 4.
A game is worth whatever a person is willing to pay for it. I played BF3 because I got it for free, played about 95 hrs, and I didn't really enjoyed it that much. Situations like "run somewhere for 3 minutes straight because that idiot in jeep drove away on his onw and then get shot by a sniper" happend waaay too often to me. For me, it's either full-on tactical and slow paced like ARMA or Insurgency or then really fast paced action, just like BFH. I played both betas, I had incredible fun, and I have played 30 hrs already and I don't feel like it's getting boring. But that is just my opinion.
Early BF3 multiplayer was one of my overall best experience in gaming. Before the cheaters took over. Rush maps were so fun to play back then. Even now i crave playing tdm in canals.
BF3 wasn't condensed. Operation Metro was small but that's pretty much it. Caspian Border, Operation Firestorm, what's it called Kharg Island, Gulf of Oman...those are big maps and some had boats and landing craft. BF4 was also good. Sure it's different from bad company, but it still has some good big maps. Dawnbreaker, shanghai, rogue transmission...good maps among others. Sure that locker map bites but as a whole the maps were cool.
Its third person shooter that they are turnimg to a fps. I expect there to be 0 bots, no war fare element, no objectives, small maps, shit vehicals, team deathmatch, and dlc. Thats fucking all.
If anyone here is looking for a replacement for COD/BF and enjoy a hardcore style gameplay, go get Insurgency, the gun play is amazing, the people are great, everyone uses a mic, people use team work, and its only around $20!
You had me until you made the comment that cod and battlefield are the same game and that you feel sorry for people who like it. yeah this is your channel and you can say what you want, but as someone who has followed both channels for a years, I am disappointed
Jakob COD AW Multiplayer, in fact take any COD multiplayer from the last 4 years and tell me how it differs from BF Hardline? Take away the uniforms and replace the cash objectives with some military objective and you have exactly the same game.. Sad but totally true. The early BF games were totally different but now they may as well merge into one.
Battlefield 3 was amazing what are you talking about, the maps were giant, the effects were superb, and it actually took skill and strategy, you couldn't just run in and shoot, you had to think about the environment. Yeh maybe hardline is kinda a copy of other battlefields but 3 was the best shooter I've ever played
FunGUI Sometimes, the 3 factions come together. And I often TK indoors because it was kind of crazy. (Not proud of it... :) ) You know the cloaked guy that come behind you ? Wasn't playing seriously in a real outfit, just had fun with friends in the game though. I agree most of the time, it is understandable. but if enough players are connected at the same time in the same place, it can become confusing fast.
I don't know I find planetside worse than bf, it's pretty much 200 vs 200 in small bottlenecks were the only way you can win is by spending money for every single upgrade or weapon or vehicle.
Gaming logic these days. Simple = Good Instant gratification = Good Epic and rapid DLC's = Good Continuation in a long-lasting series = Good First-person shooter = Good Guns in general = Necessity Guys, gaming really has gone downhill. Because common people get tricked into buying these games every time.
No Mack, we're not in the hands of corporate suits, we're in the hands of so called indie devs spewing out early access after early access, never to be finished. Steams library has exploded and it's mostly filled with survival shit and pseudo dungeon crawlers. It's absolutely ridiculous what kickstarter and early access (aka pay to be a playtester) have done to (pc) gaming. It's way worse than 'popcorn' videogames for easily impressed 13 year olds.
Yess Mack...im with you on that one! I remember in Russia, Counter Strike 1.3-1.6 was huuuge, right? then all of a sudden BF1942 appeared from nowhere EVERYONE was playing it, and CS was a 2nd place Multiplayer game... My mom had a computer club where people would pay money per hour to play on LAN network, she had to get more PCs to get all the BF 1942 players in, it was a "revolution" of multiplayer where you can feel the "freedom" of a battlefield... The game did what it said on the box, and i saluted EA for that freedom. Thanks for the review on that, i am 100% with you on this...I am still begging you to do a review on a Classic game of your choice for the "nowadays" kids... Why not do a Battlefield 1942? Peace. PS. Go easy on the Bell lol
Nostalgia is a dirty, dirty liar that simply makes things seem like they were better than they were. If Battlefield 1942 came out today for the first time, I would expect a very similar review. Unless you really believe the feature of "bigger maps" turns a "shite game" into a great one. That's the only real difference. Except Hardline has a lot of obvious technical improvements. I don't even think Hardline is a good game, so I'm on your side for the most part, but goddamn, Mack.
Chris Rowley I touched on it in the video, large maps can create a totally different feel to the game. Someone commented about large maps become sniper fests, BF1942 never became a sniper fest, here is why. BF1942 actually made you feel like a small cog in a larger wheel. You needed Tanks to punch through, bombers to take out base defences and armoured units, infantry support for taking out enemy Bazooka units and other infantry. So basically we all worked as one, taking over various areas of the maps. I remember guarding a base in the central desert part of the map, we had 3 guys and a half damaged tank, nothing else. You could spend easily 5 mins just sitting in silence, no action, just wondering if the enemy would try for your base, or maybe they would attack another one instead. You needed patience, a discipline to sit still with nothing happening, imagine this today? No way.I was top of a building looking for enemy when I saw 2 tanks (one was a Tiger) and a jeep approaching. I went to team chat requesting urgent air support then spent 5 mins with my 2 buddies defending the flag until help arrived. This is how the game played, there is nothing like this anymore that I have played and if a game like this were to be made now it would be an instant hit. The action today is way too fast and unrealistic, I love fast paced games like Quake but not in a battlefield war setting, I want realism and in combat you do not rush around like a idiot.
Nostalgia is one thing but for the likes of me, launching that ancient game today would give me two feelings, first, all those lost opportunities in order to please the masses by simply herding them towards what's simple to produce; an experience that's solely crafted upon reflexes and not thoughts. Secondly, a huge immersion. I can play them today and I assure you, their downsides wouldn't be noticed thanks to that immersion. You don't acquire memories from likes of Hardline, what you get is a huge routine. What I mean is that when I used to play 2142, I felt like I was doing something interesting, enjoying the moment and thinking about what else I could do. When I was back from work, I felt like I was having a moment of immersion. Now, whenever I pick up BF4 or 3, I feel like working, literally hauling ass. It is as if all I do is spawn spray, acquire points and hundreds of useless ribbons and flashy medals again and again and die, rinse repeat. I remember exactly how it felt the first time I played BF2, and getting decimated and being awarded a purple heart! Hah, for me that was an accomplishment and after that, every single new one I got was a moment of shame but nevertheless, good fun! So only true Battlefield veterans would understand me. It used to be something fun, now it's a boring consumer product with $60 price tag on it.
Worth A Buy Hm, that's fair. Hell, I even agree with you for the most part. Still though, I just don't HATE this game as much as you say I should. I mean, it's definitely not worth a buy for the price they're trying to sell it for, so your rating is accurate, but if you get in a lobby with some pals, I still find it very possible to have some fun with it. And for the record, Battlefield 4 was more like your description of 1942, then it is like Battlefield 3. The maps aren't as big as the 1942 ones, but they're much larger than the ones in Hardline. Also vehicles galore on most maps. It's probably dirt cheap now, you should try it out sometime.
Worth A Buy Have you tried Arma? There are many complete shit servers that basically just emulate current Battlefield or some Garry's Mod roleplay nonsense, but the few good servers (mostly on Arma 2) do pretty much exactly what you just described.
Funny cause this is my first battlefield since 1942 and I actually am enjoying hardline, I'm not paying for bs dlc packs, I mainly got it for fun with my friends till MGSV is released. But for the most part I am actually having fun playing this, campaign and all so idk.. First time I've ever felt differently mac attack.
I think its time for a World War 2 Battlefield again... They went "out of the box" with their Modern War theme when everyone stuck with WW2 and now modern War is the standart, its maybe Battlefields turn to bring historical shooters back.
As a BF2 fan, I'd like to give my opinion which slightly differs from Mack's one. Firstly, I found the campaign kinda fun. You shouldn't take it seriously, but it's kinda like Tekken or any action movie. A bit too sort though. Then, the multiplayer. The maps are too small, which removes the tactical and team play aspect of the game (there wasn't a lot of that left in BF3/BF4 anyway...). To be fair seeing how many people are playing Locker/Metro 64 players, I think there is a real demand for small meatgrinders clusterfuck maps. If you liked Locker/Metro/Close Quarter DLC, you'll love Hardline, it was made for you. If you like these twitch actions games, you'll like Hardline Multiplayer. If you like action/cops TV series, you'll like Hardline Solo (It's at least way better than BF3/BF4 campaigns, though it is still heavily scripted). If you like old school Battlefields (tactics, teamplay, vehicles...) , then you are out of luck : no big company make this kind of games anymore. Take a look at BF2 : Project Reality, Squad (in dev), or Insurgency/Red Orchestra (no vehicles), or if you are more hardcore ARMA 3. As for myself, I'll have 8-10 hours of fun with Hardline, and then come back to BF2:PR when I'll get bored. It's not a bad game, it's just not a game made for the fans of older BF (like me and Mack apparently). BTW, it's not P2W at all. Sure some gun are sold separately, but nothing prevents you from being at the top of the scoreboard every game. The best AR (M416) is in the base package. I don't like micro-transactions in a 60$ release (without premium) but it's definitively not P2W.
I won't buy Battlefield Hardline because it's not my type of shooter I like to play. But you entirely missed the point of this game. The singleplayer is supposed to be like a movie, the maps are supposed to be small, the action is supposed to be fast etc... Just review the map from the point of view it wants to be seen! So from the perspective of a fast paced multiplayer, how does it stand against other games of it's genre? What things are changed compared to Battlefield 3? This is a rant, which is fine, but don't mark it as a review. Also, nostalgia is always stronger than the newest game on the market. The first games I played I also invested several thousand hours. But later on, gaming in general became a little less fascinating for me. That's why you should review the game for it aspiration and what it really is in reality.
Bf 42 was a great game, hundreds of people played even with the multiplayer demo version of the game, which only had 1 map (Wake Island) and 1 gamemode but we liked it. Not only you had the opportunity to drive tanks, jeeps or a planes, you could control a destroyer and a carrier. So yeah that and bfbc 2 were the only bf games I played and I am proud of it.
Joseph Tramontana I don't watch these videos to be told if I should buy something or not. I watch them for the comedy. I've watched many of his videos and still bought/not bought a game that's the complete opposite to his suggestion.
If you're looking for the BF1942 experience, try Planetside 2. It's amazing. The synergy is there. The community is huge. A lone person can't do anything you need infantry, tanks, and aircraft and most of all a bit of strategy. A lot of the time more than just a bit.
Star Wars Battlefront is going to be exactly the same as this. There's a reason why they're not calling it Battlefront 3. If Free Radical's unfinished, last gen, Star Wars Battlefront 3 is going to have more features than this new game then I'm just gonna boycott any EA for now on. 50% of the game's content will be DLC. It can feel it. Wanna play as Mace Windu or a Clone Trooper? Well you have to £8 extra for the Clone Wars map pack.
NotAnotherUA-camr Free Radical (the developers of Timesplitters) were making Star Wars Battlefront 3. There's gameplay videos of the game and it looks amazing. Anyway Free Radical was shutdown and development stopped. However recently EA got ahold of it and give it to Dice.
***** Well I already hardly buy their games, same with Ubisoft and Activision. I think the last EA game I bought was Battlefield 3. The last EA game I really enjoyed and still play today is Bad Company 2.
***** Historically, everytime EA ignores its own history and removes a number from where it should be, that game turns out to be utter shit. Medal of Honor (2010), SimCity (2013), just to name a couple.
Mack I subscribed to your channel about 15 days ago, you're bloody awesome, love your take on games and gaming industry in general, and what a time to start making this kind of videos :)
I played the beta aswell, i find bf3 better than this bullshit, became boring after 4 days while i played bf3 for months, and nof even starting about preformance, network to server was bad, my gpu, cpu and ram where not even running 100% but yet lag while i had a good ping/network connection, and my parts are still new and in good condition, so fuck this game, i wont buy it, no one should
I'm just hoping Dice wont mess up Star Wars. The battlefield games are basically just COD all over again, its the same game over and over again with different textures.
My kids wanted BF Hardline so I took a look at the other reviews and watched some of the game play. I went ahead and purchased the game because I thought the interactive movie would be cool and then the kids can play the Multiplayer afterwards. Well nearly 60 dollars later, I found your review. I wish I had seen it first. While I did appreciate the the interactive movie, my first impression of the Multiplayer was summed up in your review. I entered the Multiplayer and watched the enemy spawning right on the beach next to me, I shoot at them and watch them just walk/run away... and then (BOOM) something blew me up..rinse and repeat. This game is trash and I wish I didn't waste my hard earned money on it.
Mack blame the console players. Think about what happened to BF after it came to console. This game was a PC exclusive with a small audience and then the consoles became more popular. Consoles came with DLC, big scripted set pieces, auto aim, easy mode gameplay, etc.
Mack I'm playing Battlefield 3 atm and I think its like a shit version of early COD's and a game on PS3 called Warhawk. But aside from the Battlefield game that you were chatting about in this video that you said was good, What warfare sort of online games would you recommend?
Ok so I just played through the first 'episode' of the campaign and I have to say, I didn't absolutely hate it... I think the 'procedural TV show' gimmick is actually kinda fun, and yes it's basically like playing a cutscene but it has its charms. I don't know if I'll be still saying this after Episode 4, 5, 6 etc...It's a beautiful looking game (at least on my PC anyway).
Spot on,I totally agree, I don't understand how the way people play has changed so radically, there was definitely more team work online in the previous generation, I really miss the types of team work I found in the early tom Clancy games like thunder island or band of brothers for example, now a days it is just like quake etc, just a map full of single players.. though I always have hope...
Yeah, like rome one tw for example, had alot of details and a city view, rome 2 tw doesn't, it smacks dlc's in your face and it isn't really any better, or cod 1 and 2, great camaign, newer cods have same missions, shoot this, jump that, blow this up follow him, chase that, sneak past there, knife hi..FUCK OFF, that's not gameplay, that's changing the album photo of your songs and meaby remix it a little but yet still the same bullcrap
Worth A Buy The worst thing is, with modern technology gaming could be awesome. Games could be AMAZING. Instead its just a gravy train of shit. How can we fleece people year after year with shit.
Old school 1942 player here...Mack, you are dead right about fps these days. Is there anything out there that resembles BF1942 or Return To Castle Wolfenstein's MP, Mack? God, I miss those good ol' days
Battlefield 4 was actually quite good. The maps were a decent size, it had a great campaign, and it didn't have the unrealistic plot. Most people will even argue that BF4 has better graphical fidelity than Hardline, so it seems that EA is taking a step backward! It even says on origin "Battlefield Hardline; the FASTEST battlefield yet", so they're even admitting themselves that the game has tiny maps and is now a COD clone.
Must admit I'm a big fan of big map, long battles, in-depth battles where you can make your own choices that takes me away from reality for an hour or so. I bet those battle probs only last for 20 minutes! As you said in the video, game nowdays are quick gratification, tailored for kids who have to go to school in 30 minutes lol.
We should demand quality and originality or at least innovation or improvement to the old formula...If you are willing to eat any overpriced shit that drops 6 times a year than go for it
Mack, there's a WW1 multiplayer FPS game on Steam I'd HIGHLY recommend you play and review called Verdun. The game feels similar to Insurgency in that it's realistic, but like I said it is a WW1 game, so expect some extreme trench warfare, mustard gas, bolt action rifles, heavy machine guns, lugers, and running from cover to cover in no-man's land. It's in Steam early access, but I haven't noticed any glitches myself and they just added a new map. The game is a lot of fun!
You can still play BF1942, you just need to download a patch that changes where the game loads the server list from. You can also download HD texture packs and make the game look much better.
I don't get it.. I played battlefield 1942, battlefield vietnam, battlefield 2, battlefield bc1 and 2, battlefield 3 and 4. I think all of the games where good. I just think youre a old guy who cant get used to new things. Just like old people complaining about all the smartphones.
I really want to play this because I like cops&robbers games, and I never bought Battlefield 4. Then again, I'm one of those guys who liked Kane and Lynch for its multiplayer. Best Battlefield IMO? Either Battlefield 2, or the Vietnam expansion for Bad Company 2.
I hate fucking big maps, sniper/ bipod camper haven. And this game is about smaller maps and and faster gameplay. If you look for gameplay like 1942 then you are mistaken in the first place... ! The game doesn't advertise as such. You keep making references to that game, it is *not* that game, don't keep reviewing it like it. I agree that it is priced to high but it is a great game in it's own right. It is a shame that you say keep saying it is like a dlc, you could not have been more wrong with most things you said, one of the worst video's you have done in a while.. *edit* 12:40 Yes it is a good game, if you don't like it then that's fine, everyone has the right to feel like that but don't fucking say you are sorry for the people that like it !!
icey778 Woooow. Very mature reaction. I voice my opinion and if i like the game that makes me a mindless drone? GTFO. You are irrelevant here, even if ***** does not agree with me he doesn't say stuff like you just did. You must feel ashamed sir.
Craftypiston games are judged on price though, a full price triple a game with a weak single player using the same engine as bf4 but with downgraded graphics and no destructible environments with a poorly implemented re-skin of cops and robbers will be judged as such if this was an expansion (which it could have been seeing as it's using the same engine) and marketed as such at half the price it might be worth a buy and be considered a good game......for a full release and a standalone game it's not a good game for the price, I'm sure a few multiplayer modes are fun but you have to consider everything else when deciding if a game is good or bad
Kevin Wilson I think it is the Battlefield tag that makes it more troublesome. That;s what gets people to compare with. If it was named something else completely (payday 3?) then people might still say it was too expensive perhaps but it would not get the flak it gets now. I mean comparing it to bf 1942 (like mack does) is unfair, it doesn't even advertise itself as such.
You just got yourself a subscriber! The second review I watch from you (First was Dirt rally) and loved it. You said everything right. Congrats, keep doing your great work!
1942 is free to download on Origin, I tried it out again with some friends and we had so much fun driving Tigers around, flying Messerschmitts or making an Airborne Assault on capture points, you should avoid getting newer DLC loaded Bfs and get the old complete ones with endless hours of fun and a huge player base.
I played Battlefield 1942. I have to say the large maps really did allow for more tatics and imerstion. I played that game for years and brought it from computer to computer. I didn't even bother with Battlefield 2 or 3. The only reason I got 4 was to play with friends. I agree that battlefield has become a lot more fast paced. One thing that I liked about 1942 was that if you were in a tank you felt powerful. In battlefield 4 if you are in a tank you are scared for your life because tanks seem to be made of glass. I guess they did that to try and balance the fact that they spawn so fast but.. really? Why does a tank have to be so fragile? They should be an asset not some disposable firepower. I would play COD if i wanted a nonsense super fast shoot em up.
bf3 is still kinda alright. I just ignore the booring chaotic gamemodes like small conquest maps or any type of deathmatch and go for something like rush where even the biggest morons usually flow with the entire team and create an intense battlefront where there's some coordination and thoughtful decision making left.
I've never got to play BF1942 but My favourite was BF2 sure some of the maps were small and the ones that were big weren't exactly what you would call huge but as you said with BF1942 it felt strategic and that you needed to work as a team some maps on BF2 were like that and i had a lot of fun with that but I can't see myself getting this game from all the reviews I've watched
I agree, the most frustrating aspect is these kids who keep buying these things. It will never stop. Just like the many corrupt reviewers who get paid to do a positive blabla. We need more Macks.
Thanks Mac, I totally agree with you here. I enjoyed BF 1942, CoD and CoD2, but every BF and CoD game since has been IQ reducing trash, yeah they look good, but that's about it, These days they're just made as cash cows to milk all the 12 year-old's parents for all they can get using as little effort as possible.
When BF1942 came out I didn't have broadband Internet so I was stuck playing against bots or LAN with my brothers. The Desert Combat mod was awesome though.
The game is called *Kingdom Come: Deliverance* Those 2 games... are most likely or at least hopefully gonna be the best and long lasting big games we'd had since 2012
Those two games should most definately appeal to ol' school gamers like us.
Worth A Buy
You nailed it.
So true.
I see! I see!
The franchise is dead to me.
"whoop whoop thats the sound of Da police"
"Ting Ting that's the sound of my fucking hate bell"
XD
made my day
Also the rifles that you get with the pre-order are worse than the ones in the game.... only the ACWR is kinda holding it's own, but still the m16a3, m416 and AKM rule them all.
Carbines will always weaker than assasult rifles.
is it just me or do the graphics seem shit?
Kevin Wilson its not just you the graphics are shite
The textures on the guns look plastic.
Tacoboy Gaming At least his name ain't tacoboy, child.
It's the Xbox 360's graphics. If it was PS4 footage, it would look good.
CoD died in 2010/11 and Bf2 and 3 were really good, I still play Quake tho:/
Googol Plus Sukczi'm 16, started out woth MoH, best in my opinion, way better than this crap.
I didn't just hear you say Battlefield 2 is shit.. in between Vietnam and BC.. BF2 is the best Battlefield game ever made, I love 1942 as well, but Battlefield 2 is always going to be the best, I don't know what you could possibly say to discredit this lol.
How is battlefield bc2 and Battlefield 3 bad??? Man i need to agree on bf 4 and hardline but 3 and bc2 were fcking amazing
TurkishWolf Never said BC2 was bad, I said it was great. BF3 was shite though imo as most of the maps were just too small.
BF3 was shit after all! pay like fucking 200€ to get all the content i just bullshit
GoldenGamerNo1 200€ wtf where do you get your games from. If you bought it one luanch date it would be more like 120.
Craftypiston
nope not realy
Fuck Hardline...save your money for Battlefront.
holy fuck cant wait!!!! hope its not a piece of shit lol!!!!
You're deluded if you think Battlefront is going to be any better. EA will milk the living shit out of it until it's a husk of a game, then DICE will be held responsible and shut down forever.
RIP Battlefield.
Absolute truth.
You mean battlfield starwars skin? Lets face it guys, ea is 100 % going to fuck that game to hell.
Dude.. You are my frickin hero. That honesty.. Just saying whatever comes up.. I love it.
There are big maps in BF3 and BF 4. People do go for vehicles when they spawn in. There are aircraft carriers and landing crafts. I appreciate your criticisms for the newer battlefield games but I've played 1942 and I see a lot of the same things you claim aren't in the newer ones.
Bf4 was actually pretty good...
+BRAVOS78GAMING BF4 got good about 18 months after it was released. Let's not forget that the first year was a train wreck.
+k2002 yea
When people refer back to old BF games no one ever mentions BattleField Vietnam, one of the best multiplayer games i've played.
Perfect description 9:14
Battlefield and Call of Duty turned into Quake
BF4 has huge maps but i prefer medium sized maps
James Rose bf3 does too..
I'm sorry BF3 wasn't like that if you played rush or conquest large on caspian border it is what you are talking about
FTL Games Am sorry but BF3 had like 2 maps of decent size, BF1942 all maps were large. And this game has no large maps.
Bf3 is even worse on consoles, it's almost cod levels of map design. At least bf4 has golmud, and zavod, and resort, but then it has locker. Fuck locker.
Worth A Buy Most of BF1942 maps were amazing. One of my favourite is Battle Of Britain.
Worth A Buy i still play 1942 to this day, i cant stand this shit for 5 minutes :')
Worth A Buy there's nothing wrong with multiple map sizes, but you are right, there were only 2 maybe 3 good maps on launch of BF3
I agree with the multiplayer but every battlefield story after bad company 2 were shit but EA made the best attempt at this story
***** indeed
Bad Garbage 2 was fucking atrocious.
Hardline blows it out of the water.
Dank yup
Robin_earth2 Sorry I insulted your MW2 clone, kid.
***** "At least battlefield 4 was patched enough to be decent and fun but nowhere near the level that bad company 2 multiplayer was."
Bad Company 2 still is loads of fun, there are still plenty of servers to play on and still plenty of players on them.
Battlefield 4 is the best battlefield to be honest dude. Well in my opinion. I've never played battlefield 1942.
Hmmm..... I really hope Battlefront doesn't turn out like this.
Same devs, same publishers, what do you expect?
***** One can hope for the best.
Its third person shooter that they are turnimg to a fps. I expect there to be 0 bots, no war fare element, no objectives, small maps, shit vehicals, team deathmatch, and dlc. Thats fucking all.
jgchgdcghc
I'm not sure they'd go that far too gut the game. But one thing is for sure, there will be dlc out the ass.
Battlefront might have micro transactions up the ass, unfortunately. Obviously it won't be as good as the others.
If anyone here is looking for a replacement for COD/BF and enjoy a hardcore style gameplay, go get Insurgency, the gun play is amazing, the people are great, everyone uses a mic, people use team work, and its only around $20!
Thanks for the review!!!
All you said about Battlefield is true. Speaking as a true veteran player. Thumbs up Mack.
This is why I play planetside 2 and counterstrike :P
To be fair, PlanetSide 2 can easily turn into a clusterfuck like BF:H. But I quite like it too.
XseuguhX No, the battles are always clear. There are two sides fighting, and there is usually some distance.
Aye
Gaming logic these days.
Simple = Good
Instant gratification = Good
Epic and rapid DLC's = Good
Continuation in a long-lasting series = Good
First-person shooter = Good
Guns in general = Necessity
Guys, gaming really has gone downhill.
Everything Mack said here could be applied to most modern shooters. Smashing review.
BF2 was the pinnacle of FPS games for me. I've never played an FPS I enjoyed more.
As much as I dislike hardline and won't buy, you were playing quite crap at the beginning with the shotgun
I like how you say there is no synergy while you run around ignoring people asking for ammo
Wait what? You said you didnt play the whole campaign but then say its very short? How would you know?
Ethan Cain , theres this new invention, its call the Internet. He looked it up moron.
"If you don't agree about my opinion on an electronic enterteinment material, I feel sorry for you" Worth A buy, 2015.
Worth A Buy Map size of Arma 3 Altis ---> 270km2 ;)
Mate, I sincerely recommend that you try out Red Orchestra/Rising Storm.
Had this coming and I've had enough, EA has been fucking battlefield over for too long, they're getting burnt.
Hey WAB, could you worth a buy Elder Scrolls Online now its been made no sub, apparently its improved since release
Pob 1 did you not watch the first WAB? He said he wasn't going to touch that trash again
fastdak25 its improved dramatically since though
Thank you for being one of the few honest guys around Mack.
I'd love to see you do one for Payday 2. Such an underrated game, Cant believe it's not talked about more when people are looking at FPS games.
Payday 2 is definitely one of my favorite games to play with my friends
Payday is THE best heist and 'cops vs robbers' game
L3ON360Z Sorry bud, GTA is going to take that crown. More freedom. (former Heister)
Dont get your hopes up even if he does. All your going to here is these grapichs suck or AI is shite. So if you want a good review anywhere but here.
Just speculation. The gameplay reveal is gonna be on 17th April. Wait till then.
JAnx01 Also the developers are the team that made that Medal of Honor game. Not the Battlefield team.
I, uh... Really liked Battlefield 3, actually. Whatever, everyone's opinion is their own
should i get hardline or bf4
Mack I subscribed to your channel about 15 days ago, you're bloody awesome, love your take on games and gaming industry in general, and what a time to start making this kind of videos :)
mac bf 1942 was such a bueatiful game with or without dlc's, have a great day mate :)
Wow this channel is growing really fast :D
Been here since 10k
Played the beta. Garbage then, still garbage.
Always say WHY, it's essential that you do so.
Same
I played the beta aswell, i find bf3 better than this bullshit, became boring after 4 days while i played bf3 for months, and nof even starting about preformance, network to server was bad, my gpu, cpu and ram where not even running 100% but yet lag while i had a good ping/network connection, and my parts are still new and in good condition, so fuck this game, i wont buy it, no one should
I'm just hoping Dice wont mess up Star Wars. The battlefield games are basically just COD all over again, its the same game over and over again with different textures.
Having a large map isn't necessarily good, took FOREVER to get to the combat in bf 1942!
1942 looked boring. I liked Vietnam tho! the 2004 pc one. would like a new one too
I absolutely love you videos man, sometimes I don't agree with everything you say but every video makes me laugh hahaha keep it up
My kids wanted BF Hardline so I took a look at the other reviews and watched some of the game play.
Mack could you do a ARMA3 WAB
Mack I'm playing Battlefield 3 atm and I think its like a shit version of early COD's and a game on PS3 called Warhawk. But aside from the Battlefield game that you were chatting about in this video that you said was good, What warfare sort of online games would you recommend?
Battlefield sold out (or Dice) to EA. Nuff said.
Im dreading to see how badly they fuck up star wars battlefront.
Yeah, yeah everything was better in the old days...
Lukas Johansson It actually was though.
It was. All there is now is a big clusterfrag, another fucked up COD wannabe. Its all fucked up now.
Worth A Buy The worst thing is, with modern technology gaming could be awesome. Games could be AMAZING. Instead its just a gravy train of shit. How can we fleece people year after year with shit.
Robin_earth2 For some reason im reading you're comment in Mack's voice...
Old school 1942 player here...Mack, you are dead right about fps these days. Is there anything out there that resembles BF1942 or Return To Castle Wolfenstein's MP, Mack? God, I miss those good ol' days
Got this for 4$ USD totally worth it lol
Battlefield 4 was actually quite good. The maps were a decent size, it had a great campaign, and it didn't have the unrealistic plot. Most people will even argue that BF4 has better graphical fidelity than Hardline, so it seems that EA is taking a step backward! It even says on origin "Battlefield Hardline; the FASTEST battlefield yet", so they're even admitting themselves that the game has tiny maps and is now a COD clone.
Couldn't agree more !
I will not buy BF title anymore, nor another EA game ...
We should demand quality and originality or at least innovation or improvement to the old formula...If you are willing to eat any overpriced shit that drops 6 times a year than go for it
I quite liked this game...
If I remember correctly the maps in Battlefield 1942 the maps were up to 20km^2, in Hardline they are one square mile.
Now it's just for 3.99
Mack, there's a WW1 multiplayer FPS game on Steam I'd HIGHLY recommend you play and review called Verdun.
Battlefield 3 was best battlefield and BF4 with DICE LA improved it (mainly netcode)...and yes, I have played 1942, Vietnam and shit
*edit*
12:40 Yes it is a good game, if you don't like it then that's fine, everyone has the right to feel like that but don't fucking say you are sorry for the people that like it !!
icey778 Woooow. Very mature reaction.
I voice my opinion and if i like the game that makes me a mindless drone? GTFO. You are irrelevant here, even if ***** does not agree with me he doesn't say stuff like you just did. You must feel ashamed sir.
icey778 Having some personal problem eh? I am sorry to hear that but please refrain from sounding like a ass on the internet.
Craftypiston games are judged on price though, a full price triple a game with a weak single player using the same engine as bf4 but with downgraded graphics and no destructible environments with a poorly implemented re-skin of cops and robbers will be judged as such
if this was an expansion (which it could have been seeing as it's using the same engine) and marketed as such at half the price it might be worth a buy and be considered a good game......for a full release and a standalone game it's not a good game for the price, I'm sure a few multiplayer modes are fun but you have to consider everything else when deciding if a game is good or bad
Mack, your videos are wonderful!
I like how you present yourself, similar to GamesoupUK which makes it enjoyable to watch and hear your opinions
Oh the memories from BF1942, such an amazing game. Played soooooo many hours of it
Its sad that there will never be a game like Battlefield 1942 =(
I loved that game so much
This made me so nostalgic for Battlefield 1942; amazing game.
Mack, have you tried giving Verdun a go? It's a WWI simulator shooter, it's really accurate and I suggest giving it look.
bf3 is still kinda alright.
"I am sorry for you if you like this game" that was after you rant about what's wrong with this world. This guy man 😂
I agree, the most frustrating aspect is these kids who keep buying these things.
Mack, do you have a Planetside 2 impression?
Great review Mack. Keep up the good work. Can you review the remastered Homeworld games?
When BF1942 came out I didn't have broadband Internet so I was stuck playing against bots or LAN with my brothers. The Desert Combat mod was awesome though.
