This vid is a preview so I don't really go into much detail about anything, I just want to give you a first impression of the game. It does have some bugs, quite a few times I had graphic collision where people would glitch through walls, or through each other. I also had missing quest markers happen twice but other than that the game ran amazing on my rig, looked great and was pretty much bug free other than those mentioned above. The combat is way better than the first game, the depth of customisation is excellent, the way the game reacts to your appearance is awesome and after you do something very naughty the way the game tries to find the perp is great. All this will be covered in my review, this is just a first impression but so far am loving it. EDIT: Re did the quest where I thought the markers were missing and it's fine, they are not supposed to be there as the directions are fine, I just missed a crucial part of the directions when I first did it as I was chatting IRL at the time, my bad.
Are the devs notified or watching so they can patch it before release? Man I can't wait, Not often I pre order but I did before Xmas for the top edition.
Was hoping it would have a bit more immersive improvements like with more age variation in the NPCs. Witcher 3 kinda tried this a bit. And in Dragon's Dogma 1 they weren't even immortal lol. Like we should be seeing apprentices, squires and such. For example in KCD1 the refugee stuff could have had more impact if there were actual orphans. And the quests for this would write themselves, ex: Henry having to save someone's parents or find their remains, Henry having to guard a noblegirl, or just Henry giving charity to a widow with a young family to feed. Currently everyone is either old or middle aged and with no family lol. Not a big issue since this will still easily be an amazing game but maybe they'll work on this for the third game.

I remember the first game. Must have spent 100 hours just vibing in the initial area, and never completed the game. The fun for me was simply going on side quests and living my little life. I remember I became the Huntsman for a local little fortified town (with my own Huntsman lodging) after the original Huntsman died. And I simply accepted my fate, living in that town and hunting boars for a living. The town even gives you a full huntsman outfit, hat and all. Oh and having a little medieval romance, going to bath houses and brothels, etc. Getting drunk at the local tavern. LOL.

Combos now actually matter and Dodging is now not based on stats and luck it has its own button now. Clinching is no longer exploitable through the new harder stamina system. Changing focus between opponents is less clunky now. If anything the system got MORE skillbased and less statsbased and exploitable. Whereas everything in first game was to level up defense and get a big window for perfect blocks and masterstrike. Looking forward to playing this for sure!
Black Mack
I cleaned my CC so it will be ready to purchase the second it comes out. I tend to get bored with huge RPGs but I finished KCD so I am looking forward to this one.
I guess I better go play the first one! This looks great.
I'm currently playing the 1st , its great.
I just started it yesterday! It’s great! I’m awful at the combat 😂 but there are ways around situations.. going in at night and sneaking about.. hopefully the lock picking is better on the new one as it’s hard to do on controller on first one..
@@ld6433if you go into game settings there is an option to make lock picking simplified.
It was free the other week as well.
Thanks Mack, I will get this but I’m going wait for the game of the year edition. I’ll watch people’s progress with interest
Coming full circle. KCD was actually the first review I ever watched on your channel. After playing KCD 1 on your recommendation, you’ve become one of the only reviewers I believe.
With the exception of Valheim & Enshrouded, in the last 10 years I have not bought anything before Mack's review...he is THE only reviewer IMO.
Awesome! Thanks for the first impression. I think the only negatives points that you had in your opinion are things that I love anyway. (1) Cutscenes, I enjoy the cutscenes in KCD. (2) That Henry's skills start low. The progression of skills was really rewarding in KCD1 so i'm glad we get to experience that again. It's one of the best feeling progression systems in gaming imho
I always play open world games that give you freedom like this as well. Once I get past any tutorial it's gloves off.
Mack, Mack, Mack, we're back! Expecting another epic rant by February.
How does the performance stack up specifically against the official recommendations? According to Tobi from Warhorse, they were even without upscalers enabled...
Glad you play these on an older rig it gives the rest of us hope.
Is this the game that is finally worth preordering? I hope so
Avoided all the reviews but when I saw yours in my recommended just had to click, thus watching it now. Cheers Mac, having a brewski too on this friday night
This isn’t a review and there aren’t any reviews out yet. The embargo doesn’t lift til February… he says that in the video.
@ was good enough for me
Good to hear and see you loved your videos back in the day and happy to see you back and keep rocking on the channel and like Medieval games
Here we go the sellout begins
Get your head out your arse
Visually looksbstunning when you're trotting through the fields/meadows, the flowers just walking through woods.
Beautiful.
'It looks really nice.'
Me seeing horrible youtube compression - 'Uh huh'
Awesome, can't wait!
Mack... whenever you say you played 22 hours..... i already know its good. haven't even watched 10 bloody seconds!
For what it's worth you are my most important review when it comes to purchasing a game - in fact this will be my first pre-order in probably a decade 😊
What i love about KCD2 is that they didn't dtray from their original forula that made the first one so great. Many many developers do this thing where they change everything and end up ruining the game.
Im so fking excited for this game!
well they changed the combat lol, simplified it and added scripted combos
@@GangsterFrankensteinComputerthere is no scripted combos from what I have seen. The combos have their own page so I see no reason to believe you
@@lorddiethorn that's what I mean by scripted combos. Instead of naturally stinging attacks together, you perform pre-designated combos.
@@GangsterFrankensteinComputerthey didn’t simplified it lol.
Masterstrikes now only work if you attack at the perfect timing from the exaxt opposite direction where the opponents attack is coming from.
Which puts you into high risk high reward.
Whereas Masterstriking was the only mechanic you used in KCD1
Repostes are not giving you an unblockable guaranteed hit.
Combos now actually matter
and Dodging is now not based on stats and luck it has its own button now.
And then you just press block with a long window for masterstrike and even if you miss that you still perform a perfect block.
Which made the whole game a passive one trick pony.
Or you clinched your way through
It is easier to get into yes and more opponents which are not master sword fighters for some reason but you still have a lot tough fights and even for simple opponents skill helps if they outnumber you highly since you can end every 1vs1 quicker
@@GangsterFrankensteinComputer that is not scripted buddy. Scripted is you hit one button and it happens. You have to perform the actions to activate then therefore not scripted
Man you did the most savage playthrough :D
You are the reason I got the first one, loved it. Can't wait for the sequel. 😊
I really should play the first game thats been sitting in my steam library for months.
Mack kills everything that moves...ahhh yes that's the way a game should be played. I have me preorder. i cannot wait.
Hows the engine optimisation? First one was very heavy, but it looks ok here.
I like how Mack is basically a murder hobo chimpanzee in every video game possible.
A work around for not being able to import a KCD1 character could be a savegame editor which is probably being worked on as we speak.
Henry's come to see us! Oh shit!
The first kcd is probably my favourite game of the last 10 years it's just an excellent old style proper rpg , can't be more excited for a game.
I was NOT expecting this holy shit
I’m so glad you were given a preview of this game. You sold me on the first one. 👍Jesus Christ be praised.
Really looking forward to this one!
I hope those screenshots of a random black guy in the infirmary camp are fake. If not, I guess there goes another franchise for me. (edit: today, 19th of January, Vavra has confirmed Musa of Mali is in the game. Guess there is no need to upgrade my gpu, there are now 0 games I am interested in coming out in 2025.)
Yeah am good, are you? This is a game, it's not real.
You can unclench, bud. I promise, you’ll survive.
OH NO A BLACK GUY! OH NO
@@Dramn_ Yes, a black guy in Bohemia, which Vavra himself said was ridiculous when KCD first came out. Again, no idea if those screenshots are fake or not, the alleged dialogue especially seems ridiculous. I got KCD Royal Edition, finished the game 4 times, have >100 hrs played, but if Warhorse bent the knee, I have no time or money for it.
@@baalrog666 Which screenshot specifically?
Pretty sure I will get this game not long after release. I enjoyed the first one enough to have completed two playthroughs so that's a good endorsement for picking up the second installment.
I await your review
one night i was scrolling through my phone, feeling like i’d never figure out why some people just seem so magnetic. then i came across this book, Magnetic Aura by Takeshi Mizuki, and something about it caught my attention. reading it was like turning on a light in a dark room. it’s not about pretending to be someone you’re not; it’s about unlocking the energy you already have. trust me, this book is worth every page
These ads are getting wild.
Great vid, haedcore mode at launch?
I actually booked time off work from the 11th Feb to play this game. Then they pull it forward a week 😂 Wankers.
Im ready for this now. For years the question for me i asked myself was how the skills going to be reset in a 2nd game if they make a sequal. I really enjoyed building henry up over n over again from nothing and i thought it wouldnt be bad if the 2nd just had you do it again with no reason, i come to terms with that a long time ago so, we get to build henry 2.0 from scratch again. Can not wait, and day 1 ill be watching your review mack lad! Its guna be a laugh!
Broke the preorder rule for this one, knew it would be a day 1 buy anyways since I loved the first one so much.
Shameful
But why?
'Pale Rider' .. Good one Mac. *ding*
Dude, stop using that "do what you want" phrase. It's such a brainless, overused expression. Come on. Allows you to do what? Explore? Steal? Trade? Kill?
And what if I want to organize my own cults or religions? Doesn’t allow that, does it? So why the hell use this phrase?
Wow you sound butthurt clowns it’s not a brainless phrase you lack the ability to understand this stuff
Mate, critical thinking is allowed.
Thx Mac can't wait for the review!
Tell us, is the bIack reaI or not? Game is an obvious no buy if he's in.
Lol dumb reason not buy a game I thinking racist lol
@@lorddiethorn Its an extremely valid reason because they don't beIong in our history.
@Ambander-p3xYou do know traders existed where they would go to different countries to trade goods, right?
@@viewtifuljoe4412 I guess you don't know but zero b I a k traders existed that would go to distant lands. They were all very behind in technoIogy to the rest of the world, and had no capabiIity for such traveI.
In hundreds of thousands of years, none of them ever even discovered the isIands of Cape Verde that are right off the coast of the MaIi "empire", because they never invented boats. The isIands were compIeteIy uninhabited when Portuguese arrived there.
Awaiting your review. Hope there’s not too much bells etc.
It’s on my list.
If they made the combat like chivalry 2 it’d be a 10/10
I like that game, but the combat is a wonky mess. If you mean the gore, I'm 100% with you.
How's the bugs situation compared to the frist game? Any weird issues like the horse getting stuck frequently, etc?
Mainly cut scene bugs as they play in the game world and the odd NPC comes along and sticks his head through someones chest lol
