Mauritian living in Manchester here - I've followed you for years and so happy to see enjoying the food in Mauritius! Small correction, although you started off in Chinatown, the noodle place and biryani place are actually on Desforges street rather than Chinatown. So glad you enjoyed the Mauritian biryani, it's my all-time favourite dish. Enjoy the island!
Mauritius is beautiful. I went there 3 times myself. The food is very good there. Port Louis is a nice city but I was mainly in Flic-en-Flac and Grand Baie areas
Ali, I have said it before. It's not that you don't like biryani, it is you haven't had good biryani before. You need to taste my biryani, or my mother-in-law's, or Gujarati wedding biryani.... Mauritian biryani is amongst the best too. ❤❤❤
Salaam Bro, found you while channel surfing and enjoying your video from my home in So. Calif. I am familiar with the food you were eating and although we can get sugar cane juice here in my home town, I bet yours tasted better. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience. JazakAllahKhair.
Mauritian here. Thanks for coming. Assalamualaikum. Corrections now. U were in chinatown but then u entered the desforges street, plaine verte region is mainly muslim region. The chinese food u had is guanzhou lomen handpulled noodle, done by muslim chinese from china that just came recently to open a shop here, while our Mauritian chinese food is on another incredible level of taste, its decades of fusion. It is true that the most tastiest may not be halaal since there will be pork and alcohol, or cooking wine. Still there are some pretty good halaal certified authentic Mauritian Chinese restaurant. Yes u missed the best briyani, should have gone further in the region and ask locals knows where are the reals gems.
Was at the Lux in Grand Gaube a month ago, just missed you😂 As a British Mauritian who has been watching your videos for some time now this was great mate!❤
Mauiritian Dal Puri is very nice but there is a very similar dish from Trinidad called Doubles which I would say ranks much higher than Dal Puri. No disrespect to Mauiritian cuisine. I love it Its 2 extremely soft, melt in your mouth puri breads topped with exceptionally delicious chana curry, spicy chilli sauce & cucumber chutney. Very similar in looks to Dal Puri but more filling. The origins of both dishes are from india hence the similarities. Gujarat has a dish called Dabeli or double roti with a spicy chana filling which im presuming the trini dish of 'doubles' comes from.
Mark Wiens also made a review but the guide was not so good, actually you tasted the meat biryani but not the TOP TIER. Try to go to a wedding for a review.
Epic Street food tour Ali, I absolutely loved watching this. Mauritian food looks amazing 🤤
I hope you are enjoying Mauritius! Watching this makes me proud to be Mauritian☺Great video!
