Easy Tom you ok pal, great for beginners as you just showed it can cost pennies to get out for a few hours. All the best Tom from a freezing cold grimsby.
Great video. I must show this one to the youth group I run - proves that worm is not the only bait out there. I especially liked your short piece on efficiency on the beach - superb.
Always an interesting watch Tom. I did manage to catch a demonstration by top boat angler Colin Serle getting 52 baits out of one mackerel. I think he didn't use the gill covers and tail. He also made 2 baits out of the head by cutting it in half. You said counting and remembering to put the fish on the score sheet was a problem. Yet you proved that you can do "joined up whiting" 😊
The Mediterranean and Cyprus loss is our gain pal! Best thing you ever did was stick that camera in front of you. Learnt a lot from you mate since I’ve been watching and coming down to fish Southbourne. You’re very watchable in a non creepy sort of sense 😂🤦♂️
Amazing Tom did a match at streamer last night the luminous beads and weight are a game changer for pout and whiting unfortunately I didn’t realise until the last hour but made a big difference when I changed to them thanks to someone who gave me some . Great video mate !!
Every day is a school day in fishing matey. I really do believe in lumi stuff for night fishing this time of year. I feel it gets bites quicker than without.
🙌🙌🙌 all hail Tom! I think many of us were taking a wild guess at start but pink hats off to you that was outstanding. Trouble is next time I moan about the cold I will think back and admit I’m not moving fast enough🤦🏻♂️
🤣🤣🤣 Firstly, "all hail Tom!". That can stay, I approve of this. Secondly, I will be monitoring your effort levels and reporting back accordingly. You have been warned.
That was both interesting and informative Tom, very entertaining as always. Just goes to show what you can do even with a small amount of bait and catch bigger fish too. Must have been too cold for mermaids 🧜♀️ 😂😂🎣🐟
That was a great watch Tom. You make it look so effortless, but looking at how you do it, I can see why. I'd be tangling up, rod rest falling over & all other manner of disasters! Some nice sized pike bait there 🐊
They really would! Normally I'd have popped one out, but given I was working pretty hard on the scratching rod, I just left the bass rod alone! I might pop down the same bit of beach and go for the bass though, surely if there's that many bait fish around, there's got to be some big bass!
Superb video as always Tom, so entertaining and informative, an elusive combination for many UA-camrs. I went down to Friars Cliff last night and I wasn't anywhere near as succesful as you. Weed was a big problem but when I swapped over to a newly tied Pompey rig, as shown in one of your recent videos, I had a PB whiting - it worked a treat!
Thanks Pete. The mic issue is really starting to bug me! It just randomly decides to stop working for no apparent reason! I'm guessing maybe the cold affects it! Who knows! Thankfully, I only lost a small section of film.
I do the same kind of thing with one filet of mackerel on town quay in Southampton. You’re welcome to come and do the challenge with me at some point in the future. My best result so far is 35 fish in 2 hours.
Great entertaining video Tom. Its funny, when you plan a trip and buy all the best expensive bait, you can always guarantee the fish will not oblige. When, however, you grab some manky bait thats been in the freezer for a decade😅, rush to the beach for a couple of hours, you bag up. Sods law 😂😂. 👍👍
Ha ha, we've all been there mate. I know I always over think my bait. Too many options means you don't concentrate on more important things like where and how to present your bait.
amazing video, im just getting into fishing and every time i been going i been spending 20-£25 on bait and it was getting to much for mwe financially, but now i think the mid =week session im going to use this idea, love your videos mate they are great for learning for beginners like me and i cant wait to see the pink hat in the next video, all the best
Thank you for the wonderful feedback. I really do appreciate that. It's so easy to grab far too much bait. I probably throw away at least half of what I take with me on most sessions! Sometimes stripping everything back, and concentrating on one tactic with one or two baits, can result in some fantastic sessions. Best of luck next time you're out.
Again Tom a really very unique and informative video! Great idea using just one mackerel I may have to do something similar on my UA-cam channel unless you have copyrighted the idea 😂😂😂 ! Thanks for making me smile!!! Cheers Ian
Hi Ian. I hope you're keeping well. I'd love you to do the same video, I looked forward to seeing the results. We could make it a "UA-camrs challenge"!!!
@@FishyTom Ha ha I’m not sure I could beat your tally especially if I fished locally in the BC!!! Maybe I should come down your way to pout central!! Haven’t done much fishing recently unfortunately dad passed away early November so I’ve had a lot to do but hopefully will be out soon. Fishing is a great healer!! X
I'm very sorry to hear he passed mate. My thoughts are with you. If you ever fancy a session down my way, please drop me a line. I'd be happy to join you on the beach. You can teach me how to catch a big bass...
@@FishyTom very kind of you to offer. I’m sure I will have some free time in the new year maybe I could message you then and you can show me how to catch mermaids…..😉
Hi tom great video on match style fishing and using only one mackerel one of the best educational videos ever watch top guy tom stay safe and tight lines
Possibly not the same quantity, but there was enough colour in the water to give me confidence to have caught in daylight. If it drops clear, then it would be darkness only.
Great video as always... Every time I have tried shore fishing I never catch. Where would be your tip to catch winter whiting from the shore around Bournemouth?
Hey Tom Great video , very interesting to see how many fish you caught on one mackerel... Quick question. Do you charge the luminous beads and lead with the UV torch every time you cast out or do you just leave them to charge a bit in the ambient light and charge with the UV every other cast? Great stuff keep the videos coming...
I'm struggling with the conditions for lure fishing from the shore at the moment. There's still a few guys catching from Mudeford and Sandbanks Ferry, though.
Highly and informative as usual Tom. Just a question for you, if you were trying for a bass would you choose the mackerel head and guts option over a live pouting or whiting?
I honestly wouldn't mind which one I'd chose. The mackerel will have a greater scent trail, but the live bait will have the movement and distress signals.
Busy little session that Tom. You want a bit of a laugh when it gets colder.. we fish glow in the dark curly tail grubs(no bait) on the lure rods. Whiting actually go well on the light gear as do dogfish. 😉
@@FishyTom I rig them like feathers I suppose, micro paternoster rigs with a small bomb and bump them around. We find some of the biggest whiting right in close weirdly. Especially if you've got groynes and structure to fish around 😉
Brilliant video Tom. I'll be coming down your way between Xmas and New year, will pop in and get loads of goodies...do you have the Stonfo bait tables in stock?
They're Guy Cotten bib and brace, rather than waders. christchurchanglingcentre.co.uk/clothing/waterproofs/guy-cotten-hitra-bib-and-brace/?cookies_accepted=Y

Great video, what a busy session. You forgot to run along the beach, carrying the fish and match measure in your bucket so your neighbour can sign your score sheet 😂
Easy Tom you ok pal, great for beginners as you just showed it can cost pennies to get out for a few hours. All the best Tom from a freezing cold grimsby.
Thanks Carl. I think we're all guilty of taking way too much bait when we fish.
great video Tom, that little exercise would be great with the kids , adds a little bit of fun and helps teach about match fishing scenarios ...
Yes, it really would. Good thinking mate.

Thanks mate. Although, I was also a bass blanker! 🤣
Amazing how many fish you can catch from one mackerel. Good job 😊
I think the majority of people use baits that are far too big! It's fun to experiment with how tiny a bait you can catch on.

Definitely down Friars Cliff/Steamer Point. It's alive with fish at the moment and it's a super easy venue to fish for any and all abilities.

🤣🤣🤣 absolutely! Only a fool would fish without one.
nice one tom
Thanks mate
great vid,
can i ask what rod you are using ?
You certainly may. The blue rod I caught all the fish on is my Veret Syria 435. The rod that I successfully avoided bass on was my Veret Cosmico 4.4m
thank you, nice looking rod, even if it is in the dark 😉😉 @@FishyTom

🤣🤣 Yes, bass bait a plenty there. Thank you Karlos!
Great effort tom keep it up
Thanks matey.
Well done Tom for the 1 fish challenge shame you didn't catch a bass on your mackerel head i assume that it didn't come off on the cast out
No, I watched it land. It was sat there for over 3 hours, so probably just got chewed off by crabs and small fish.
What waders are those🤔
They're Guy Cotten bib and brace, rather than waders.
