Just wanted to share that I watched your video the day before my first teacher interview and I got a job offer 5 minutes after my interview!! Thank you for the awesome tips! I’m excited to start my teaching career as a 7/8th grade teacher!
I normally interview well but I have absolutely ZERO classroom teaching experience. I’m a career switcher in the state of Florida w/ a degree in marketing. After watching you and Amanda teaches I was more than prepared. I received 3 offers from one of the highest paying counties in FL. School starts on the 31st this yr. Thank you!!!!
Your interview tips for teachers are really good! I watched your video and someone else’s on how to be prepared for a teaching interview, I found a website that listed 90 questions plus 5 more questions I added. I answered most of the questions if not all out loud and just kept practicing over and over-my kids & dog thought I was nuts; but I ended up acing my first teaching interview! Yes I was way overly prepared, but your tips worked. So thank you!
This video was super helpful! I took your advice about the question to ask and the principal told me it was the first time anyone has asked him that. Thanks for your help. I got the job!
This was SUPER helpful! I’m a 3rd year teacher that wanted to move schools and these were almost spot on during my interview this year. Thank you for sharing!
I needed this! I'm a third year undergrad in NY and this changes the way I see my future as an educator! This video definitely boosted the little confidence I had before.
I was asked almost all of these questions. My cooperating teacher was really good at preparing me and told me they would ask all these. I practiced my answers to these questions A LOT and had 5 interviews before I got hired, so I got a lot of practice.
I am going into my 5th year as a Middle Level ELA Teacher! I am actually transferring districts next year and I am so excited! I am driving a full hour to work right now and my new job next year will be 14 minutes from my house! 🙏🏻😊 Great tips! I applied to all districts closer to my house but I went on this one interview and they called me a week later to offer the job! I go and sign my contract Monday! I am so excited! ...I recently found your channel and I LOVE IT!
Thank you for this! Im graduating this May with a B.S in Animal and Veterinary Sciences with a concentration in Equine Science. I am currently in the process of applying for a M.Ed program in Equestrian Education - my hope is to integrate more equine and animal science into school programs and would love to teach high school level students to prepare for a future career in the equine/animal industry (a growing field!). Your passion for teaching and your dedication to your kids truly shines through in your videos. Thank YOU for being so inspiring to me to pursue my education and teaching goals! I look forward to watching the content you put out on your channel!
This was so helpful, thank you! I'm starting to get ready to go on my first interviews for the next school year. You have some really great tips and ideas especially with videotaping your self in a mock interview. I feel a lot less stressed about the entire process now!
Thank you for this upload! I've been watching since you were a first year third grade teacher and you have been so inspiring! I've got my very first interview today for a teaching position!
This was SO helpful as I am an elementary major going into my student teaching this upcoming semester and extremely nervous for the interview process. Took notes on everything you said, keep up the great work and congrats on getting your dream job!! :-) LOVE all your videos!
I WISH I saw this before my interview this past summer. I BOMBED my interview 🤦🏾♂️😂 it was an epic fail. But it was a great learning experience for next time. I thought because I have an expert level of knowledge and experience in the SUBJECT that I was prepared for the interview. Boooooy was I wrong.
It depends who they pick because schools and principals also look at the salary that the school has to pay to a new teacher compared to a teacher whose salary is higher because of the teaching experience.
I feel your pain. I was a paraprofessional for 7 years. I was also substitute first. I experienced so much from teaching the students. I'm going to job fairs and applying a lot. So far I had one interview. I'm hoping to hear more this coming week
I always wanted to be a teacher and still kind of do but I’m 26 now and I feel like now is a bad time to try to go and get all the education needed for it... train, etc. But I really love your classroom soooo much and love your videos!
I say go for it if you haven't already. I have a Bachelors NOT in teaching and I did a complete career change to teaching. Im now going for my Masters in Teaching. "IF" it is your passion go for it. You are NOT too old or it is NOT to late. There are tons of programs out there that don't take long to complete and a lot of alternative teaching options. I did months of research and found the right fit for me. Connect with people in your circle who are in Education that can give you tips and if not, start volunteering so you can network. Go for your dreams!
In my state districts are suffering from legislative changes that including a higher wage for educators but also lowered financial contributions the public can make(local levy's) so districts are having severe issues with paying everyone. Districts are doing RIFs, etc. I'm a first year teacher, I only have a BA so...for me, I'm more hireable in that I'm CHEAP. haha.
What did you wear? People say dress comfortably and your own style or it’s make the best first impression and dress the job you want. Should I just wear a power suit and heels?
Do you have any recommendations for when to apply for jobs? I'm graduating in May with my Bachelors and am looking for a teaching job for the 2018-2019 school year, and I have been told that I should start applying now by some people, and I know some peers of mine started applying in January. But, I also have been told that not a lot of spots are open now and I should wait until May or June. I'm wondering when did you apply and when did you have your interviews/ get your first job? Also I just found this channel and I subscribed immediately, I love all your videos!!
Girl, it is so hard to get a teaching job of any kind where I live. I have been working for one year as a substitute and I know principals. Not sure why it is not happening for me.
I've had 3 interviews so far not a single one has asked me "tell me about yourself" haha they HAVE all asked me about my experience in teaching though instead haha.
Thank you so much for your tips! Do you think I should explain why I substitute taught for 2 years after graduating the credential program during that "Tell my about yourself" interview question?
I was wondering what district you work for? I'll be teaching in California as well, but I don't plan to work for LAUSD. I'm looking into other districts.
What city? I'll planning to move up north once i'm done with my credential program. Trying to find an affordable city or suburb to move to up north has been a bit hard
Thank you so much for this video! I got a B.S. in Hospitality Management and a minor in Education. I decided recently that I want to pursue teaching and I’m in the process of studying for the exams. I do have a question for you please: since I didn’t major in Education I didn’t do any student teaching. I contacted Human Resources for my district and they said that this doesn’t matter as long as I show my passion for teaching and I interview well. How can I make sure I answer the interview questions well when I’ve never taught before? I appreciate any advice you have! Thank you so much!
Hmm I don't know how to answer this because I honestly don't know! I feel like my credential program and student teaching really prepared me to be a teacher. You don't need to have any sort of secondary training, internship or student teaching to teach in your state?
Early EDventures Thank you so much for your reply! No, I don’t. As long as someone has a Bachelor’s Degree (for example a career changer), any one can be a teacher in Florida. Of course they’ll have to take the state test to get credentials, but as long as they pass and get a full time teaching position then they’ll get teacher certification. I’m in the process of trying to take my state test for the first time to get certified, but I’m stressed out about what will happen when I go out and try to find a full time position but I have no relative teaching experience. I did complete classroom observations, but I didn’t have to actually teach if that makes any sense.
I am so desperate to get a teaching job :-( I was teaching 2years ago & I got pregnant now m bored sitting at home all the time. I am applying everywer but not able to get a job. I had 2 interviews recently & they went really bad becoz of long gap & I couldn't speak 😐😭😭

Your video helped me land my dream job: bilingual kindergarten teacher! I couldn't be more excited! Thank you so much!
This video was super helpful! I took your advice about the question to ask and the principal told me it was the first time anyone has asked him that. Thanks for your help. I got the job!
You got hired on my birthday!!! I have an interview in a few days and I’m so grateful I found your channel. Thank you for all that you do!

This is fabulous. I feel like I'm talking to a mentor who really cares and knows her stuff. Thank you so much for creating and sharing!

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I am currently starting interviews for positions next fall, and I am so nervous. Your videos are giving me a lot of tips!
I'm not a teacher and I'm not interested in being a teacher but I love your videos!

Job fairs are great, lots of interviews, lots of practice.
Awesome practical tips! I have been teaching middle school English Language Arts for 100 years in dog years.
Thanks for all the advice! Starting student teaching in August!

You're still very young. I encourage you to do it if you can!
I'm also 26 and just started at an university. Never to late!
I'm 27 and still in school! Don't let you age keep you from your dream! Plus, you are still young!

Great advice! I will be applying/interviewing so soon! Eeeeek
These are awesome tips! How long do teacher interviews usually last?

Great lecture, thanks
