For me, her vomitting was in reaction to realising, if Andy was sterile, that Andy is aware that Lees been lying to him for over 5 yrs about her pregnancy with Zoomer. Why the heck do they baby him so much? Always carrying him and feeding him? Hes special though. Maybe Zoomer is the one thats sick and requires a medical suite?
I think the fact that Andy is sterile is important because I too think Lee's pregnant. As is Andy sick or is he just trying to extend his life? Also the one member of the group we know very little about is the filmmaker. Wonder why that is? This show led me to subscribe to your channel. So glad you're covering this show.
I would assume Darby will survive. So someone needs to save her. The silhouette is probably this person. This leaves the question if he had also closed the top of the pool, in the first place.
I watched this episode two times and I also picked up on the amount of times the number 27 comes up, but I don't know its significance either. Is Andy really sick? Life extension therapy sounds like a hokie rich person thing. There's no indication of any real illness. I thought Lee's reaction was bizarre! Obviously she's not the person that Darby believed she was. She looks capable of killing or hurting someone after that scene imo. I know that it's a far stretch, but if I were to say it was anybody right now, I think it's Bill. That Lee and him are planning an escape. That would be impossibile given we saw his deceased body the next day. Or is it?! Also, why would Darby have to be invited for them to flee? I'm also wondering since we're shifting so much from reality to the past if some of this isn't really happening to Darby? Thinking of the hotel scene. Otherwise an excellent episode & chomping at the bit for next week!
I think, Lee created Andy, just like Andy created Ray. Andy has administrator authorization and can command Ray as no one can, Lee also has some power over Andy (I don't mean wife's authority here:), the moment Darby wants to leave the room and Andy objects, Lee manages to convince Andy to let Darby go. And the way he responds, just gives me chills: "I'd never stop if it wasn't for my wife". I feel some undertone of a grander plan. His story of how he found out about infertility sounds so fake, and Lee's exaggerated reaction, I think she freaked out because learned that Andy has long realized he is not a real human being and it will be much more complicated "to find a way out". And "Life extension therapy"?! I wish :) Is he charging his batteries or running some updates? Looks like he is "sleeping" during these "treatments" or more like connected to "software" manipulating "hardware" killer?
I think they highlighted addiction quite well with Darby. She literally disconnected from Ray (tech) only to attach to Aderall/weed (Sidenote: What led Bill to get on drugs? Darby said he stopped, but when did he start?). I saw a parallel between her mental breakdown w/ Bill (humanity) and Ray, and unfortunately, I think Bill was right about how she could love him. I think her feeling are more prominent to what she can't see, but knows is there. I think this thought follows the bonfire/saging ceremony quite well; HOWEVER, we only heard her say Bill's name in a flashback, so is he coming back? (hmm). Even if he isn't, I'm POSITIVE somebody isn't dead. Another note, when you mentioned morse code, it made me think of who knew Darby knew it: Rohan, Sian, and Bill (somebody is not dead). An Easter egg I found was when Bill and Darby were driving; there was cigarettes(?) or something w/ the word 'morlino' upside down in the sun visor. I looked it up, and a book called 'Assessing the Quality of Democracy' popped up. A quick summary I read was that it focuses on how to evaluate and improve the quality of new democratic regimes. That would be necessary for the theory, at the bonfire, of an ultra-rich doomsday city. Lastly, I still think Zoomer is AI, Andy referring to himself as software and Bill as hardware, Sian made it sound like Zoomer was a lot more than a child support check to Lee. I also don't think she was throwing up, I think she was dumping something out.
I've heard some people ask "How was the pool water heated when they are conserving power?" Iceland is full of natural hot springs. The water coule easily be piped inside. Iceland has an abundance of geothermal energy they can use to power and heat. There should be no need for them to go cold anywhere. Iceland is full of volcanos and and my question is "how and why would they be building so far underground when here is so much magma under there?" Also "why did Andy choose Iceland?" I wonder if volcanos will play a role at all in this.
I believe Sian killed herself. She said many things that sounded like last words and last advice. David is Argentinian and Lee's other passport is Argentinian so he is definitley in on something. I think Darby's dad is the silver doe serial killer. Either Bill died in the basement and everything happening now is her processing the grief/ is an ai simulation. *OR* her killer dad let them live in the basement, Darby never told anyone, Bill couldn't deal with that so left. Lee is either being held hostage by Andy or knows bad things he's done and his plans she considers bad and wants to take him down. Bill is helping her escape/ expose Andy. Bill is still alive. Lee and maybe Bill are stopping Darby from messing up the plan. I think Bill wanted to let Darby in on it but she turned down going to his room and came too late. When he was dying he said "stay with me" and his smile made me think hes asking her not to leave and go back to the US. And "hearts" are constantly mentioned throughout the show. Not to mention Darby Hart's surname.
I felt the same way about the lamp scene, I actually took a slow-mo video on my iPhone to try to figure it out 😂I’m no expert but this is what I have, N-N-G (-• -• -•) next word T-I (- ••) I think the first N could actually be an I bc we don’t see the whole flash, it also cuts off so the last letter could also have an additional dash and may just be one letter X. I lean toward it being I-N-G, but I’m unsure about the second part, X would be weird bc in one flash back scene we see an algebra equation on the board “Solve for X”. I know that was long but I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried to decode the first lamp message!
okay Martin is the only one we don't know about and I think that may be because, 1- we're about to find out more about him, 2- he's going to be killed. OR 3- he's the killer (or being blackmailed) and the writers are trying to throw us off the scent through distraction. I noticed that in episode 1, Martin still has his cell phone, and he uses an an app to say something in Sian's voice. I think Martin, even if he's not the killer, snuck into Darby's room and played that audio message in episode 5(also the masked person had to be a man or someone slightly taller than Darby). also he's one of the only people we know that had a copy of Darby's book(scene from the plane), and when bill was killed, there was a bloody copy of the book laying under a rocking chair that was gone in the next episode when she investigated his body. was that martin's copy, or bill's because he said he had read the book? regardless if Martin is involved, I think he's just a pawn working with or being manipulated by the real killer.
If the person sneak into Darby's room had access to the app that Martin was using, wouldn't it make more sense for them to use someone else's voice to mislead Darby?
Are the past scenes being used for context or will they connect to these murders somehow. My feeling was context. Understanding why she is the way she is, how she fell in love, her desire to solve a case, how it "burns" her as she gets close. I know some people believe the killers are connected but I don't see how that makes sense. Im worried its going to go down a "dont trust AI" sentiment, especially after what Bill said in the desert about phones slowly killing humanity. I feel like this trope has been done before many times but Ray being the killer seems impossible and therefore is a possibility. How I have no clue but its clear it would be with someone else who may or may not be pulling the strings. What is the show trying to tell us ultimately. Is it a story of global warming, of humanity in crisis due to this, is it technology and how far we can push it and the threat it could pose, is it dissecting capitalism and how the super rich control the world. Or is it simply a story about love and family.
I'd love for it to be the last one in your list, but too many shows today feel a need to push some other narrative that we've already been fed 1000 times...so, who knows. On the past timeline, I think it feels more like two related but separate stories with their own climaxes, both happening in the finale of the season and probably both equally shocking.
@Dizmodo agreed, I think the 2 stories will finish separately on that final episode but I can see merit in the theory that they are more connected than just back story, I just don't see how. It would be bizarre for it to be the same killer. Also agree on your first point, I feel like the other things may be factors but not the key. The thing that I genuinely can't wrap my head around is why did Andy marry Lee. He knows Zoomer is not his child and that she has lied this whole time. I feel like he values loyalty. Its such a strange dynamic though. The passport alludes to her trying to get away but it can't be that simple, it's too obvious for it to be her escaping Andy due to him being controlling. Just a gut feeling she is playing everyone. As if you leave that bag open and out with the passport and the wig.
Same! I thought that too. Love & family. No matter how you splice it, isn't that All that matters to each of us in the end? Even if it is a billionaire. Love is the crux of the human existence. I guess we will see can't wait for next week
Great recap and following up on 27 and Morse code! Pool guy looked like Tomas to me. Do you think Sian's infection was accidental due to not sterilizing the skin or sharp implement before the tracheotomy? And did David have a secret cellphone from Ep 2? Martin is flying under the radar and Oliver appears non-threatening, but he can walk. He probably created robotics for his legs to work.
I have been wondering about Martin A LOT lately. He’s far too quiet and I think he’ll play a bigger role at some point. Tomas is a good call on the mystery pool boy. Sian’s infection is interesting to me. I can’t imagine she’d have died that fast and I can’t imagine they didn’t have antibiotics there that would treat it. But, I felt in my gut they just wanted to off her and move on, so that’s what I did.

I don't think so, the common trope of telling an audience a woman is pregnant is vomiting, but this time it's a new immaculate conception with the wise men of the modern society all gathered to witness the birth of a baby of 3 parts. The new baby is Lee's, Bills as well as Davids. The baby has 3 parents just like he said the new AI has three parents.

I just did a little googling of the number 27 and came across this novel called The Hunt also known as 27 which plot sounds quite familiar….
“As the world trembles with the approach of World War II, a woman dies at the hands of Hitler's henchmen. Her murder forever changes her lover, Francis Scott Keegan, a relentless anti-Nazi mercenary, who becomes locked in a desperate cat-and-mouse game with the Third Reich's perfect spy, a man of a thousand faces.
