  • In this video I talk about how lifting my Toyota 4Runner Limited with a spacer lift was my biggest regret and why I recommend forking out a little extra money for a suspension lift.

Thank you for sharing, thats the stuff people need to hear before starting mods. I know I am going to benefit from this video! Love your 4runner btw I have a limited as well and I kind of want to make it look like yours going to go overlanding on it eventually also there arent alot of channels that started modding a limited to begin with so this helps! Definitely going to keep following your videos.

I have a Limited with a 1” spacer leveling kit installed, just to give it an ever so slight boost up from stock. Absolutely no issues whatsoever, on or off road. However, any bigger than that would certainly cause issues where proper suspension lift would be warranted. With that said, the factory is suspension is very robust.

Westcott makes a lift specifically for the XREAS system. I'm planning on purchasing soon. Haven't heard of any issues with it.

First, I'm curious, why you opted for limited instead of the TRD Off Road or the Pro? If you do lot of off roading, those seem to be better choices. As for the lift, unless you want to fit it with bigger tires to gain better approach and departure angles, I find it really unnecessary. I drove my 2020 TRD Pro on some very challenging trails with some "big boys" who have 2 and 3" lifts and nothing they could do, I couldn't. In my experience, fit it with excellent armor (Plates and sliders), and you good to go. Lifting a 4Runner changes the angle of the IFS, which accelerates the wear and tear process.

Totally, agreed. The 4Runners are already plenty capable without a lift. I went with the limited initially because I got a good deal on a used one. But I also ended up falling in love with the AWD system too for the kind of stuff that I do. 🤘

you need higher spring rate for your rear springs.. it sits lower than the front imo though.. solid 4runna!

Great video. I’m also a proud owner of a Limited model. It’s great to see other people modding out their Limited models. You don’t see much of this. Initially I did the same thing when I started modding out my 4Runner. I ran a leveling kit in the front for a quite a while and still ran with the awful XREAS shock setup. Then I went to a suspension lift. I had Fox 2.0 coilovers in the front and ARB medium duty coils installed in the rear. I also had the front UCA’s switched out. I went with some UCA’s made by JBA Off-road. I’m glad I had all of this done. This gave me about a 2-3” lift. This also allowed me to run 33” BFG KO2 All Terrains. The stance looks way better. You’ve also inspired me to do a front bumper cut. That’s a great video also by the way. Sometime in the near future I’ll be doing the cut.

Interesting 🤔. I got some advice for my ORP four years ago and went with an Elka full on suspension upgrade. Not cheap, but wow. I would not have known enough to buy something on my own, so I was glad for the help….like this video. Good on ya! Share your experiences, good or bad. And who cares what trim you got,
. It’s your money, not theirs. Jeez. Cheers. 👍🤪🏳️‍🌈

I'm loving your content! I also have a Limited that I'm looking to modify. 95% of my driving will be on-road, so I was hoping to still use x-reas with a very modest front lift. Can you give a little more info on what spacer kit you initially tried, and describe the ride difference before and after the spacer was installed? Thanks!

Great video. So does that mean you had to remove the XREAS? Or does your lift, retain the XREAS?
Edit: Oh and I forgot to mention, that I "liked (the video) and Subscribed" to your channel.

You'll blow your suspension if you offroad it with spacers. Just in case anyone reads this.

First Mod thing to Buy is Rocksliders IMHO. I went TRD Pro and put on Rocksliders when tires wear out I will put on 275x70 17R and I will be done. The Pro cost a little more but it’s good enough for 99.9% of what needs done and If you don’t think so buy a Jeep with 37’s. For all think you need 285 vs 275 there is only 1/2 inch taller 32.7 vs 32.2 inch’s so with 285 you get 1/4 inch more ground clearance, and a lot worse MPG.

I am running 285 Toyo Open Country RT Trails in an E rating and I only lost between .5 and 1 mpg from what I was getting stock.

I could use some real world 4runner advice. My fam is considering nabbing one of these final 5th gens. Narrowed it down to the Offroad Premium, Offroad Premium with KDSS, or the TRDPro. Resale value is meaningful, though we do keep vehicles for the long term. Mostly on-road and light trail performance prioritized. No major offroading or modification intended at this time (perhaps mods in future), but we like to have serious get-out-of-a-jam capability just in case. How would you rate these three options?

    • @Q9Overland
      @Q9Overland  5 місяців тому +1

Nice! I’d say the TRD Pro will definitely have the best resale value. Especially being the final and best version of the 5th Gen 4Runner. With that said though, I think the Off-road Premium is the best bang for your buck. I don’t have much experience with the KDSS though so can’t speak too much on that. But if you have the money to spend a little more on the TRD Pro, I’d definitely recommend it as it will hold its value better. But the Off Road premium is nearly just as capable for a bit less. Can’t go wrong either way in my opinion. Hope that helps 👍

Just got a 2024 Limited. How does the King 2.5" feel versus stock with X-Reas?
