Very few groups come close to Mamamoo, they are incredible. All of them can dance, rap and sing. All of them have fantastic solo careers also and the mamamoo+ sub unit songs are also fantastic. Moonbyul is the main rapper and is both the fastest 3rd generation female rapper and the woman with the most writing and production credits in kpop.
@@roguereacts In their first concer they had a section where they split into two pairs. Solar and Wheein are Angel Line and Moonbyul and Hwasa are Rapper Line. They each did a song that was released as an MV and they had a competition for which got the most views. They will occasionally refer to the pairs by those names (mostly rrrrapper line becaus Moonbyul really likes saying "rrrrrapper line") but they were never official subunits.

Kim Do Hoon, Mamamoo's chief songwriter and RBW's co-CEO, picked the members based on their vocals and their ability to have fun, and the members said he worked his butt off to make Mr. Ememoh as good as he could for their debut. He called in all his favors in the music business to have them on the recording.

welcome to the world of mamamoo! we like to say once you Whee in, you can't Whee out! I highly recommend an introduction video, the one by purple hawke is my favorite, but I understand if you want to go with a more recent one than that. All four of them really come for you all the time. Their live vocals really are incredible, and lip syncing has never really been an option for them. Purple Hawke's channel no longer has those videos up. They dropped off of YT because of all the hate they got for posting those AMAZING videos. Fortunately, according to the one thing left in their Community tab, they gave permission for others to re-post those two videos. Somebody took them up on it. While searchable, you will no longer land on Purple Hawke's channel. Don't freak out when that happens, it is okay, PH said so. :)
@@roguereacts I agree 100%. Trolls fucking suck and in this case it must have been REALLY BAD bullying. It would have been completely un-deserved because Purple Hawke had AMAZING editing skills! Just try to imagine hate and bullying that are SO BAD that it would make you decide to completely shut down all of your social media on every platform! I hope that the person behind the Purple Hawke channel can manage to keep doing what they did so well (obviously not under the PH name) so they can try to find some measure of happiness for themselves. What happened to them really is not fair to anybody. Those bullies need thrown into prison and never allowed on social media again.
Mamamoo has an unusual group history. Within their 1st year of their debut, as they were being known as monster rookies, yet not getting huge sales or publicity due to being under marketed by their small agency, they were invited to appear on a well known Korean TV show called Immortal Songs 2. The concept of this was famous singers would re-work an “immortal” or well known song, mostly an older Korean song but not always, and sing it live and be judged. Very few K-Pop artists were invited and almost none won. And I don’t believe any female k-pop artists had, and certainly not rookies. But the producers had heard of Mamamoo and had received many requests and they did their homework. There were many shows over the season. They are all on YT. They are still some of the best work by any entertainer. Mamamoo won 3 of them and were incredible. They made their bones, as they say. Even the ones that they didn’t win were so good it’s hard to believe how good the performer who beat them had to have been 😮 since then Mamamoo has been known as entertainers, not necessarily as K-pop idols. Their medley called Immortal Songs Medley showcases some of these that they performs Ed live during one of their early concerts. After that season they appeared again on Immortal songs one more time and then haven’t done the show since. But there are also many YT videos of them performing at various variety shows over the years and they just kill. True entertainers.

You won’t believe that you’re watching a rookie\2nd year group. Of course they were working their butts off for years to get this good, still their talent is off the charts. There are some really amazing Korean entertainers from gen 1 and 2 that you’ll find out about, oftentimes just by sheer luck. I’m not going to name anyone here since this is a Mamamoo thread. I’ll save it for another time. 😀
Mamamoo really did buck the norms of kpop, then and now. Starting with all being so charismatic as to make choosing a bias impossible. Some moomoos do have a single bias, but just as many stan them all, and IT'S OK. We understand! Even your least favorite will have amazing moments and grow on you!
Sometimes with hair color changes it’s hard to tell who’s who at first but after a bit you can definitely tell who’s who. In egotistic hwasa is the one in the bathtub wheein on the car, moonbyul is the rapper and solar is the pole dancer. Deep dive needed. It’s a must. They are so talented and worked really hard to get where they are. Best harmonizing group hands down. All have solo work as well and are very successful. I absolutely love them. Watching your face /reaction was me a year ago discovering them as well. Good luck surviving part 2!

Very hard to have a bias for this group, they are very talented that each of them have solo and killed it, each of them have a unique tone, solar (leader) have a powerful tone, moonbyul is sing rap and most credited writer as she write her own rap, wheein is good in ballad as she is famous for her honey vocal that can touches the soul and hwasa the youngest is famous for her jazzy voice, once you get to know their personality, you will love them all. And by the way they are 4 vocal, 4 performer, 4 rapper, 4 dancer, 4 songwriter, 4 comedians (famous for being a crackhead) if you wan to know them better, you will need to watch mamamoo introduction by purple hawke. Imo Mamamoo is one of if not the best girl group of all time. Let's count the ways: The gold standard for vocals among kpop girl groups. World class vocal talent, four distinctly different voices, perfect harmonies. All four are also successful soloists and Moonbyul and Solar made a unit called Mamamoo+. There are two amazing guides to get to know them. The one from Purple Hawke is more detailed but a little outdated, MooYT made a newer one with a little less information about the individual but more about the group in general. People say Mamamoo is for the Gays because the like to flirt and play around with each other and Moomoos (their fans). Mamamoo supported LGBTQ+ on multiple occasions, Moonbyul even wrote a saphic s3x song (shutdown ft seori). Mamamoo works so well because they consist of 2 soulmate pairs (Byul and Solar, Wheein and Hwasa) and are a family.
Loved your reaction! Mamamoo is one of those rare groups that sound better live. They are famous for their ad-libs and goofing off on stage. Not to mention the vocals! This group is basically 4 vocalists, 4 rappers, 4 dancers, and 4 Queens! For a guide, I suggest Moo Yt's A Guide to Mamamoo. It's the most updated. It comes in 2 parts. Part one is for the members and part 2 is for the group as a whole. Many moomoos love Purple Hawke's Introducing Mamamoo Guide, but as another comment mentioned, it's quite outdated. I love seeing reactors fall in love with Mamamoo. Them and Exo are what got me into, and have kept in, kpop. Not sure where you live but Mamamoo will be touring the US next month. I cannot wait to see them live. They are on a whole different tier when it come to discography, vocals, and stage presence. Cannot wait for part 2.

Thank you for your reaction. Mamamoo have an incredibly diverse musical career. One thing you skipped over in the early times was most of their humerous songs. Um Oh Ah Yeah or 1CM would be good choices there. Looking forward to part two and your deep dive. After 9 years Mamamoo is finally touring the US in May and June. If you're in a position to go to a concert you should grab the oppurtunity, there may never be another. Tickets are still available.
You should definitely check out their Killing Voice performance. It is arguably one of best Killing Voice performances out of the series. You get more of a sample of more of the songs.

Mamamoo are 4 soloists in one group, all have solo albums, then there is sub unit of Solar and Moonbuyl, collaborations, OSTs, about 400 songs all up. Hip, Wheein’s Goodbye and Moonbuyl’s Shutdown are LGBT friendly
Their early stuff is very jazz / blues feelings, there is a couple of pre-debut songs particularly Don’t be happy which is really good, in Korea Mamamoo are known as begal idols, aka they are crazy funny, push barriers and they always do their own thing. Moonbuyl is the most lyrically credited female idol in K-pop history.
Yes to a deep dive! I'd vote for Pianoman, awesome song. You'll also like one of their less serious videos, like 1cm taller than you. (Aze gag is funny too, but it's all dadjokes that are impossible to translate. ) So much content, like in their 4 seasons concerts each of the members had solo parts of about 20 minutes. Best "guide" to members ever. But you have a spring/summer and fall/winter concert, so maybe just enjoy these on your own? For one (f/w?) I found an full concert video, probably 3 hours and loved every minute! (Could be something for a livestream?)

@@roguereacts I'm excited for you! 😁 I don't know if anyone told you yet but your current fave Moonbyul (rapper) used to train as a vocalist but the company decided she should be a rapper instead. She lost confidence in her singing and felt out of place especially being in a group with 3 other vocal powerhouse (the members encouraged her and made sure there isn't mamamoo without Moonbyul). She gradually gained confidence in her vocals and joined a reality show last year called Second World. Check out her performances in that show. IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND 🤯

@Rogue Reacts Moonbyul auditioned (and got accepted) as a vocalist into RBW (MAMAMOO's company), but was forced to take the rapper role 3-6 months before debut. She lost her confidence in her voice after watching and listening to her group mates, till 2018, where fans and her members encouraged her to sing more. Eventually, she got to sing on official MAMAMOO songs (in 2018), and Eventually got to do so much more singing and showcase her beautiful, warm vocals in her solo work. Really thank you for noticing and appreciating Moonbyul, and hope you'll get to dive into her, and Solar, Wheein, and Hwasa's, solo works too! 🥰🥰

Actually all of them officially debuted as soloists and very successful. Also they have a officially debuted subunit called mamamoo+. And yeah in this group you can’t choose a bias. Even if you choose a bias other 3 are your bias wreckers. So most of our fandom(fandom name: moomoo) is ot4 biased and equally divided as biased.
They are immensely talented and all of them have writing credits. They have a number of solos as well as one subunit so far. Solar has a youtube channel Solarsido where she does various challenges and other interesting things. Moonbyul is the main dancer and has a couple of released solos with guests such as Seulgi from Red Velvet and others. Wheein has a number of talents and several amazing solos. Hwasa is just a queen. She has become a cultural icon all on her own and her story is one that deserves to be heard. Immortal Songs is show that they hold or held the record for the most wins (4 I think) doing covers of classic songs. Their appearances on Queendom just brought the house down. They are currently on a World Tour with a number of shows in the US.
Mamamoo is coming to USA for their world tour in coming May and June. This may be their last group tour for some time so would strongly recommend you to see them live if you can! Fully worth your money and you would regret if you miss their concert haha
Mamamoo's live stages are SO good. I remember their Queendom stages very vividly, and I highly recommend those. I already see the comments suggesting other great performances, so I won't repeat those here. Looking forward to future reactions on Mamamoo!

Mamamoo distincts from others in the Kpop scene because their style and stage is closer to western. They fusioned pop with other generes like latin music or music hall, etc...function as a regular quartet, and their assets are their voices because they do not rely regullarly in dance choreos like is standard in Kpop, though they do have a rapper who gots the dancer skills.
Mamamoo! The other girl.. no, woman group I Stan. I am excited that I will get to see them live in a few days. Moonbyul is my bias and Solar is my bias wrecker.. though Wheein and Hwasa will also wreck. Egotistic is my favorite title track. Blonde Solar.. that partly why she became by bias wrecker. Byul was training to be a vocalist before she had to move to rap- something she learned to do in a matter of months instead of year(s) that most get. Starry Night is such a beautiful MV and song, that album - Yellow Flower is when we really get the introduction to vocalist Byul; before that Love and Hate/Worthless from Purple album was solo vocal Byul. Byul writes all her raps and has the most writing credits for a female idol. Decalcomanie is one of my favorite title tracks- along with Gogobebe, Hip, Aya and previously mentioned Egotistic. My first Mamamoo song was Um Oh Ah Yeh, but Hip is what put them on my KPop radar because at the time of Um Oh Ah Yea I did not listen to much KPop outside of Big Bang, TVXQ, 2NE1. I love these chaotic, beagle energy vocal queens.. apparently I love Chaos and talent as I Stan Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher. One thing that definitely set them apart from the other girl groups that debuted in 2014 was the retro sounding debut since most others chose the “bubble gum pop” or something of the sort that was very bright. Solar is one of the best female vocalists- she can sing anything and kill it (like Siyeon). I love Byul so it is no surprise of my Dami love because of the similarities. Angel line- Solar and Wheein Rap line- Moonbyul and Hwasa They have official roles, but because they can all sing, dance and rap we don’t really use them. Live- immortal song melody, mama performances, solo from s/s and f/w concerts, it’s live.. Byul- long black in 1st, silver in 2ed (love her silver), light orange ish in last 2. Once you get a good sense of what they can do as a group you should do their solo, it's so good and so unique you can't help but wonder how they can work so well as a group with such unique energy lmao
Very few groups come close to Mamamoo, they are incredible. All of them can dance, rap and sing. All of them have fantastic solo careers also and the mamamoo+ sub unit songs are also fantastic. Moonbyul is the main rapper and is both the fastest 3rd generation female rapper and the woman with the most writing and production credits in kpop.
I'm absolutely in love with them!!! Moonbyul is quickly turning into on of my favs!
Mamamoo+ may be their only "official" sub-unit, but don't forget the Angel and the RRRRRRRRRapper-Line 🙂

@@roguereacts In their first concer they had a section where they split into two pairs. Solar and Wheein are Angel Line and Moonbyul and Hwasa are Rapper Line. They each did a song that was released as an MV and they had a competition for which got the most views. They will occasionally refer to the pairs by those names (mostly rrrrapper line becaus Moonbyul really likes saying "rrrrrapper line") but they were never official subunits.

I highly recommend an introduction video, the one by purple hawke is my favorite, but I understand if you want to go with a more recent one than that. All four of them really come for you all the time. Their live vocals really are incredible, and lip syncing has never really been an option for them.
Fun fact: all four girls have solo careers, so if you'd be interested in that, I would definitely check out some of their solo songs.

Mamamoo has an unusual group history. Within their 1st year of their debut, as they were being known as monster rookies, yet not getting huge sales or publicity due to being under marketed by their small agency, they were invited to appear on a well known Korean TV show called Immortal Songs 2. The concept of this was famous singers would re-work an “immortal” or well known song, mostly an older Korean song but not always, and sing it live and be judged. Very few K-Pop artists were invited and almost none won. And I don’t believe any female k-pop artists had, and certainly not rookies.
But the producers had heard of Mamamoo and had received many requests and they did their homework. There were many shows over the season. They are all on YT. They are still some of the best work by any entertainer. Mamamoo won 3 of them and were incredible. They made their bones, as they say. Even the ones that they didn’t win were so good it’s hard to believe how good the performer who beat them had to have been 😮 since then Mamamoo has been known as entertainers, not necessarily as K-pop idols. Their medley called Immortal Songs Medley showcases some of these that they performs Ed live during one of their early concerts. After that season they appeared again on Immortal songs one more time and then haven’t done the show since. But there are also many YT videos of them performing at various variety shows over the years and they just kill. True entertainers.

Sometimes with hair color changes it’s hard to tell who’s who at first but after a bit you can definitely tell who’s who. In egotistic hwasa is the one in the bathtub wheein on the car, moonbyul is the rapper and solar is the pole dancer. Deep dive needed. It’s a must. They are so talented and worked really hard to get where they are. Best harmonizing group hands down. All have solo work as well and are very successful. I absolutely love them. Watching your face /reaction was me a year ago discovering them as well. Good luck surviving part 2!

Artists and creators, not just performers or teen idols, who are heavily involved in all creative aspects of their career: songwriting, choreo, styling, MV concepts, etc. For example rapper Moonbyul has the most songwriting credits of any female idol.
Extremely versatile with one of the most diverse discographies of any group, ranging from r&b, jazz, hip hop and latin pop to bossa nova, ballads, rock, reggae, EDM & pop dance tracks and more. People say Mamamoo can sing anything and write a song about anything and Koreans summed up MMM by inventing the slang phrase BeLisMaMoo: Believe & Listen to Mamamoo.
As performers they're a 4X4 team of best friends and multi-talented all star all-rounders. They all sing, rap and dance at a high level and play various instruments. People say Mamamoo is for the Gays because the like to flirt and play around with each other and Moomoos (their fans). Mamamoo supported LGBTQ+ on multiple occasions, Moonbyul even wrote a saphic s3x song (shutdown ft seori).
Mamamoo works so well because they consist of 2 soulmate pairs (Byul and Solar, Wheein and Hwasa) and are a family.
Listen.... I already love Moonbyul I don't need to love her even more 🤣 I'm excited for the deep dive to learn even more about them!!!

So much content, like in their 4 seasons concerts each of the members had solo parts of about 20 minutes. Best "guide" to members ever. But you have a spring/summer and fall/winter concert, so maybe just enjoy these on your own? For one (f/w?) I found an full concert video, probably 3 hours and loved every minute! (Could be something for a livestream?)

@@roguereacts I'm excited for you! 😁 I don't know if anyone told you yet but your current fave Moonbyul (rapper) used to train as a vocalist but the company decided she should be a rapper instead. She lost confidence in her singing and felt out of place especially being in a group with 3 other vocal powerhouse (the members encouraged her and made sure there isn't mamamoo without Moonbyul). She gradually gained confidence in her vocals and joined a reality show last year called Second World. Check out her performances in that show. IT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND 🤯

@Rogue Reacts Moonbyul auditioned (and got accepted) as a vocalist into RBW (MAMAMOO's company), but was forced to take the rapper role 3-6 months before debut.
She lost her confidence in her voice after watching and listening to her group mates, till 2018, where fans and her members encouraged her to sing more.
Eventually, she got to sing on official MAMAMOO songs (in 2018), and Eventually got to do so much more singing and showcase her beautiful, warm vocals in her solo work.
Really thank you for noticing and appreciating Moonbyul, and hope you'll get to dive into her, and Solar, Wheein, and Hwasa's, solo works too! 🥰🥰

Actually all of them officially debuted as soloists and very successful. Also they have a officially debuted subunit called mamamoo+. And yeah in this group you can’t choose a bias. Even if you choose a bias other 3 are your bias wreckers. So most of our fandom(fandom name: moomoo) is ot4 biased and equally divided as biased.

They are immensely talented and all of them have writing credits. They have a number of solos as well as one subunit so far. Solar has a youtube channel Solarsido where she does various challenges and other interesting things. Moonbyul is the main dancer and has a couple of released solos with guests such as Seulgi from Red Velvet and others. Wheein has a number of talents and several amazing solos. Hwasa is just a queen. She has become a cultural icon all on her own and her story is one that deserves to be heard. Immortal Songs is show that they hold or held the record for the most wins (4 I think) doing covers of classic songs. Their appearances on Queendom just brought the house down. They are currently on a World Tour with a number of shows in the US.
I seriously can not wait to get to their deep dive! It's going to be a wild ride I'm already starting to plan it out 🥰

Mamamoo is coming to USA for their world tour in coming May and June. This may be their last group tour for some time so would strongly recommend you to see them live if you can! Fully worth your money and you would regret if you miss their concert haha

Mamamoo's live stages are SO good. I remember their Queendom stages very vividly, and I highly recommend those. I already see the comments suggesting other great performances, so I won't repeat those here. Looking forward to future reactions on Mamamoo!

Mamamoo distincts from others in the Kpop scene because their style and stage is closer to western. They fusioned pop with other generes like latin music or music hall, etc...function as a regular quartet, and their assets are their voices because they do not rely regullarly in dance choreos like is standard in Kpop, though they do have a rapper who gots the dancer skills.
I really love that! They have such a nice uniqueness to them! I'm a stan!
Mamamoo! The other girl.. no, woman group I Stan. I am excited that I will get to see them live in a few days. Moonbyul is my bias and Solar is my bias wrecker.. though Wheein and Hwasa will also wreck. Egotistic is my favorite title track. Blonde Solar.. that partly why she became by bias wrecker. Byul was training to be a vocalist before she had to move to rap- something she learned to do in a matter of months instead of year(s) that most get. Starry Night is such a beautiful MV and song, that album - Yellow Flower is when we really get the introduction to vocalist Byul; before that Love and Hate/Worthless from Purple album was solo vocal Byul. Byul writes all her raps and has the most writing credits for a female idol. Decalcomanie is one of my favorite title tracks- along with Gogobebe, Hip, Aya and previously mentioned Egotistic. My first Mamamoo song was Um Oh Ah Yeh, but Hip is what put them on my KPop radar because at the time of Um Oh Ah Yea I did not listen to much KPop outside of Big Bang, TVXQ, 2NE1.
I love these chaotic, beagle energy vocal queens.. apparently I love Chaos and talent as I Stan Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher.
One thing that definitely set them apart from the other girl groups that debuted in 2014 was the retro sounding debut since most others chose the “bubble gum pop” or something of the sort that was very bright.
Solar is one of the best female vocalists- she can sing anything and kill it (like Siyeon). I love Byul so it is no surprise of my Dami love because of the similarities.

Rap line- Moonbyul and Hwasa
They have official roles, but because they can all sing, dance and rap we don’t really use them.
