Me too, because of the weight to power ratio. My dealer told me that he would not void my warranty even if I use the brush blade on it. I started to exchange it for the 94R
We got my dad this model for Father's day in a couple days. I've never been able to afford a stihl so I don't know much about them but me and my mom wanted to get him something nice and was hoping this was a good one. So glad to see so many positive comments about this model
I've had the FS90R since 2012 and love it! Stihl makes great stuff. It starts first pull every time even after sitting all winter. I have to feather my throttle manually around the chain-link fence. I can appreciate that dial feature. Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
I've wanted one of these ever since they came out. I finally picked one up today! Thanks for mentioning the $50 promo, I didn't know anything about that til your vid, wohoo! Another perk is, if you get their premix gas/oil ($30/gal, yikes, or a couple bottles of Stihl oil (6 of the 1 gal treat bottles at $2.49/ea or 2 of the 2.5 gal mix at $3.99/ea) it doubles the warranty from 2 years to 4. I got the 2 bottles for $8, pretty good for another 2 years warranty. They filled it full of gas and showed me how to operate it, went over the whole unit one end to the other. Definitely the Red Carpet treatment :) Kudo's to my local Nebraska Bomgaars!
I don’t know why Stihl didn’t incorporate the throttle set wheel control into all their pro trimmers. I think at times it would be a nice thing to have it on the 4 mixes as well. Landscapers are still using the 91r and such around residential properties and bi weekly’s. Im sure they have some delicate stuck to weed trim around.
I love that Stihl FS94R weed whacker, especially the throdel I’d also say that the FS94R weed whacker, is the best brand that Stihl makes. Another reason why I like it is because it’s a straight shaft, and so it weed whacks, under fences, and other stuff. Stihl is the best brand that they make. I’ve always loved the Stihl weed whacker, and leaf blowers. Their the best brand that they make.
Heyo! Just picked one up today thanks to your video. I dig it. Question for you, i notice at low throttle i have a loud metallic noise, soinds like the clutch engaging. When i give it more throttle it goes away. Does yours do that? Is it normal? Its like a chattering noise coming from the engine/muffler
I like it but I have a hard time getting it started sometimes when it’s cold. The choke stays locked in at zero throttle once you hit the throttle the choke turns off. When I use a red max 260s I belive it is, I can play with the choke and the throttle at the same time and get it going really quickly compared to this model
@@robakubeno4461 thanks for the reply. I bought this trimmer over a month ago and it’s been working like a charm. Light weight. Works well for one week lawn and maybe two weeks if you hold the throttle all the way. Ppl say some of these string trimmers have issues with the choke. Might have to check with your dealer. Make sure you keep your guard on before you take it in. Might be the reason. I haven’t had any issues
Is that like a cruise control, or still have to use the throttle when you adjust it? Running a FS 111R, but want something lighter for my weekly/not as thick yards👍
Japanese version name is FS26, it has no grease hole on head gear. It makes big noise after use few years but able to grease from inside remove head once and pressure in to shaft hole. I prefer USA version.
I saw you reviewed the KM 131 R a while back. I was thinking of going from the fs 94 R I have been having for 6 years or so to the KM 131 R. What do you think about that idea since you have both?
Shane Seaux I mainly use the 131 now just for the pole saw and thick grass. I prefer the 94 for every day weed eating. It’s so light. Both are good but if your wanting to do other things than cut grass then get the kombi
The fs94r holds nearly 7 ounces more fuel, its slightly less weight, but also more balanced when holding it. I think the fs70 makes slightly more power in lower rpms and the fs94r makes more power as rpms increase.
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
Hello thanks for being a fan! Unfortunately I can’t give it away but someday when my channel gets bigger I’d like to do stuff like that for sure. Please share the channel with all your friends. Thanks for your support Nicolas!
My 94 worked well for 2.5 years, the last year and a half, under warranty, it was in the shop 7 times. They could never get it to run right for longer than 15 min. My 130 still runs like a champ with the same hours as the 94. For a light weight one, this year l bought the 70. By the way the fs 94r has a flexible cable shafts not solid, it's only rated for up to grass blades.
No worries, I thought mine was solid too when I got it. It wasn't until I pulled the gear box that I saw it was a cable shaft( a little deceving on Stihls part). I loved it while it lasted.
Prosumer model? Being cable & so much plastic everywhere Id say it is. I like its speed dial, I have this fence myself. RedMax / Husqvarna offer true Commercial blade capable machines in this price range. Idk if Echo does, due to their weight I didn't look at them long, most likely they do. Fyi- I had two Stihl dealers confirm these units develop intermittent starting issues very early on. Wouldn't say why?According to countless owner posts/reviews Stihl can't fix the issue once it begins? Some post said it's a vaporlock issue? New carbs Stihl throws at it don't fix it.
@frösten Awesome that's great to know! My other stihl (KM-111R) is bone dry but it definitely sounds and runs different so it may just be a completely different system.
Or maybe you could find someone that has a bike handle for sale that’s maybe not running and swap the parts over. I put a bike handle on an old 56 that was a loop handle. It was pretty strait forward
frosten I agree battery equipment has its purpose but like you say it’s more convenient you can buy a gallon of gas just about any where. It’s not always practical to charge batteries when your on the road. Gas is a must for me. However I would like an electric blower for blowing out my garage and to keep in the tractor to blow out the round baler during hay season.
Alex Diaz it won’t blow up no need to fear. Only way it would do that is if you threw it in a fire and even then It probably wouldn’t explode. It would just melt the fuel tank and flare up as if you put some gas on a fire. I’ve been running gas powered trimmers for 20 years and never had one catch on fire. Lithium batteries can explode or catch fire though so there is that.
I run a small lawn maintenance business and my Echos by far have done much better than this Stihl model. Decided to give Stihl a try and I had nothing but problems with it.
@@Kgoutdoor if your going to use it for residential use an Echo SRM-225 at Home Depot will suit you fine and for $100 less than the Stihl FS 94R. I’ve always used Echo, wanted to see the hype with the Stihl and just wasn’t impressed. Stihl’s Auto-Cut head as well is garbage. The speed feed head on an Echo is way better and easier to wind the trimmer line. The only issue with my Echos is having to clean the blow by they make maybe once a season. Is there a blade attachment for this model available? I know there is for the 91r.

Nothing runs like a Stihl. Stihl is probably the best that makes weed whackers, leaf blowers, edgers, hedge trimmers, and brush cutters.
No
And make sure you where safety glasses, when you weed whack.

The 94R throttle control is the most underrated Stihl feature. People don't know how to use it.

Its Zach no you would have to buy the kombi power unit for that. This is just a string trimmer only.

Does anybody else's blow smoke out the exhaust if you angle to edge? Two local dealers say its "normal" if I'm not full throttle
I’ve had mine since 2016, & mine does that. It also blows oily residue out the exhaust.
