    Just bought the KM91R which is the same as the FS91R but with the Kombi system- so glad I bought this unit. Thing runs solid and I’ve been bushwhacking with it, cutting trails with a blade. So glad the Stihl dealer recommended the 91 over the 94.

    I have had the 94r and I currently have the 91r and I prefer that over the 94r because it cuts brush better and has enough power to trim grass etc ! Plus those cable shafts don’t hold up as good as a solid steel shaft they tend to vibrate once the trimmer gets warn out !

    Fs91 r. Is a heavy trimmer but it's so torqued I can sever through weeds and tall grass in slight idle. As where my 94 is opposite you have to throttle it up to slice and dice. Have to decide what's your intention for trimmers and weight plays a role in you holding it all day job after job.

    This is a really great review as usual. I'm still trying to decide which model is best for me. Leaning towards the FS 91 but am concerned about the weight. But one point I can't understand, if you're not supposed to run a blade on the 94 why are they being sold with a blade fitted in Europe? The 94 is also shown with a blade fitted in the brochure.

      So apparently the 94s overseas are being promoted with solid shafts in them. To my knowledge and what I get out of it is. The only attachment fs or Km version that are fine to use are the line head and hedge trimmer if using flex shaft. I have seen a few UA-cam videos with people buying the km version and did run trimmer hedge clipper and pole saw on it. All did work just fine. I do think even with a solid shaft the 94 with pole pruner head is slightly under powered but if your just doing some light limping or some low hanging branch’s here and there not big deal.

    I got a fs94 and was disappointed when I heard it has a cable shift which is no good to run a blade, I took the head off just like it is in the video and found my trimmer has a straight shift, I also confirm with the shop I brought the unit from, they don't know fs94 use cable, just wondering if it was charged recently

    Hey Carl I’m debating on at some point trading in my 5 yrs 100rx that still runs well. Been considering A 94r as a replacement instead of the 111rx the updated version. Could I order a 94 with a solid shaft or get the dealer to switch it out for a solid one. I do like the idea of the light 2 stroke no valves to maintain or check. Plus, having a solid shaft to run a hedge trimmer gear head on it possibly was my idea. I don’t use or need a edger or pole saw. How does the km version differ besides being a split shaft to be able to run attachments?

    • @Carlsmower
      @Carlsmower  2 роки тому

      We are hearing of a few FS94’s coming with a solid shaft. Not sure why (maybe a supply chain work around). To change from cable to shaft would cost you about $30 in parts from my memory. The 94 is lighter but it does have a bit less power
      I spins a hedge trimmer like a dream though

    • @jefffaust89
      @jefffaust89 2 роки тому

      @@Carlsmower So I could call and order a 94r with a solid shaft instead from a local stihl dealer and it would be somewhere in the ballpark of $30 extra on top of the retail price? Which last I checked the price it was around $350 for the 94 basically what the 91r costs. Yes I thought if I could go he solid shaft route I could get a hedge clipper attachment just the gearbox or maybe you have to get it as a kombi attachment and use it as a hedge trimmer too when needed. I run been running the 100rx and have been looking into stihls gas hedge trimmers. Thinking about a he 45, but would like the 24” blades instead of the 18” but can’t find anyone who has those new. Have seen a couple with 24” blades on eBay. Some people want a bit much for used. If I do upgrade and can get a solid version of the 94 I’d just get an attachment. I think the KM version might cost me much more money cause u have to buy the bottom shafts separately and the line head is $100 extra plus the hedge trimmer straight is one price and adjustable is more yet like 250 for that it

      Did it just start doing that for u? It maybe be the mufflers exhaust screen. Unscrew it with a smaller flat head screw driver and slide it out with a pair a needle nose pliers. If it looks dirty like it’s got carbon dust built up on it or oil residue try wire brushing it and if it won’t clean up just get rid of it and leave it out. It not needed to run and it will eliminate the possible clogging issue in the future.
