I loved this because I got to see child Regina, and, I felt, her innermost self. I smiled when she said, "There are immigrants like me, I know, who came like me as little kids". And she didn't know what a swimming pool sounded like, and it was such a pleasure to see a real. Live. Dog. I felt I was seeing her for the first time here. I love all of her other songs, don't get me wrong, but this is the first song I've ever heard ABOUT HER. Which is a good thing because it means she's not "MEMEMEME."
It's 2 AM past a Friday night. I was supposed to do an assignment for class earlier but I skipped it to meet this girl but she accidently cut her finger and had to get stitches and now I'm home alone listening to Regina
Im almost with you. 1.37am. Can't sleep due to regina addiction 😂. It's 11th September 2023. I just turned 33 and for the last 17 years I've been listening to her.
Ah! Oh my goodness I'm in love with this song! I didn't know there were swimming pool noises either! Ugh, but I get my heart broken everytime it cuts off at the end :(
Quite possibly one of the most gorgeous songs I've v er heard. EVER. I think she cuts it on purpose at the end... That is such a Regina thing to do. What a tease...
'woahh regina' That was funny. :) I know, she makes you wanna say 'stop Regina, we can't take it, can we please adjust to the 100+ songs we know already'. I've been a fan for about 3 years. A little of a late bloomer. I'm still running into new ones. This one has never been released and it's just as good as one on an album. That's her for ya. One of the reasons we love her.
Aww, I wish someone knew! I think it was probably around '02 or '03, more around the time when Songs was releaed. I think her voice changed a bit between the recording of 11:11 and songs.
love this song, but i've always wondered what she meant by " i stayed up watching who framed roger rabbit, in English -- I loved it, but didn't understand it". does she mean by "in english" like what she really meant was she didn't understand it (since she was a kid) or that she didn't understand the english language so she was basically watching a foreign program?
Good question. I never even considered she may not have understood what what going on in the films story (for reasons other than language) To me she's implying she didn't understand it due to the language barrier as throughout the song she details examples of how everything on America felt like a different world with things she's never seen or experienced. So to me her also mentioning "in English" right before saying "she loved it but didn't understand it" further emphasizes yet another aspect of this new and exciting world which was so different from her own.

So it's 1:37 AM and I didn't do my homework and I have school tomorrow but instead I'm listening to Regina and crying.
this is so relatable, I am doing the same at 1am as well haha
Ayyy we're the early morning Regina squad, we all have homework to do

So, you had something coming?

This describes her child hood and how she thought everything was so magical and didnt understand much. She has said this in many interviews!
WOW! This is such a great song.
I stayed up watching 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit'
in English -- I loved it, but didn't understand it
Best line.
