OMG I was laughing out loud and couldn’t stop when I saw that Chick Fil A cup was being taken out from his bag😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Me too xD
Me too! It was the throwing crumpled up papers across his desk too!
Just came across this , makes me feel better, have a check ride coming up on Dec 15,23.
John: how should dress
Paul: (sigh) your shirt is fine, but damn dude do something with that mushroom hair cut. LOL
For amateur acting I say A+. Most of all this video is very informative and straight to the point. Thank you gentlemen for your efforts! Soon to be a student pilot.
its been 3 years ago you you made this comment mr.student pilot soon to be, how far are you with the flying
What a great video. I think knowledge reduces anxiety. The more I prepare for anything, the less anxious I feel. Thank you for taking the mystery out of a Checkride process.
When his phone rang I thought it was real at first and I was thinking, "well, this is awkward...". Thank you for the excellent and very informative video gentlemen!
Congratulation !! You are now an official pilot is the word I wanna hear tomorrow
What happened??
Same I’m taking mine on Wednesday
@@Sky95Puncher How did it go?
@@TheRealYaro got rescheduled till Friday
@@Sky95Puncher good luck man. mine got pushed two weeks back and i passed🤘🏼
Great video, sounds like a thorough but fair DPE that creates a friendly professional environment! One thing about failing.... It is YOU that knows, the FAA that knows and EVERY FUTURE AVIATION EMPLOYER!!! So if flying professional is your goal, do not fail check-rides! If you do fail, be ready to own up to it and explain how it made you a better pilot.
12:52 dude I died when he pulled out a beverage from his bag lmao was not expecting that
I’m about 3 weeks out from my check ride. I am so looking forward to the moment my DPE hands me my temporary pilot’s certificate. This was very helpful. Thank you
THANK YOU SIR.
GREAT INFORMATION, VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
Sure they aren’t professional actors, but this video was absolutely amazing. Thank you for taking the time to make this video! Really helpful.
Great Information ! I always wondered how the check ride would be...at least this has given me an insight ...thanks for sharing
Thank you so much. This video was very helpful especially the flying part!
This is so amazing, interesting, interactive and educating for aspiring student like me

Thank you for the video content. I have my check ride coming up soon. This has help me have more peace of mind.
I love the honesty in this video. Tell it like it is gentlemen.
Edit: Meadville! That was my first crosscountry solo too!
Very nice and orientation video love to see more of this really helps
Thank you for an excellent video!
Hey there Paul,
I'd like to thank you for spending time making a brief yet informative general layout of how the checkride will go - as well as some pointers. I have a checkride coming up in approximately two weeks and as nervous as I am, it's nice to know that when all is said and done, the examiner is simply looking for someone who is proficient in safety, common sense, and is always learning. Best wishes and blue skies.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad it helped. Good luck on your checkride!
How was your checkride?
Y H Hey there, thanks so much for asking! I passed with flying colors (no pun intended). To be frank, the oral [and practical/flight] exam was the best experience I’ve had the privilege to partake in. The examiner was straight to the point, but allowed plenty of room for enjoyment and stress-free evaluation of me as a pilot (and person). After studying my butt off, I had no trouble at all explaining the route, the steps to take, follow, etc., and performing as PIC. Not tooting my own horn, but directly said from the DPE; “You’ve demonstrated to me that not only do you have exceptional knowledge and understanding as a [now Private] Pilot, but that of what should be expected for a commercial-level-Pilot. As for your handling of the aircraft (N21627, a 2004 C172S out of my home base KASH), I don’t think anything needs to be said - I went up with you hoping to see the same as that of your oral skills, and you outperformed those expectations.” Needless to say the butterflies still haven’t dissipated!
All the best & safe skies.
You, me the FAA and all the people you told you were taking the test will know if you passed.
Such a great video!
Awesome video and very helpful!
This was very well done. I had a great laugh. Thansk!
Great Video. I cant wait till I get my license!!
Awesome 👏🏻 thanks for sharing
This was a really helpful video, thanks for putting it together! Makes me a little less nervous for my upcoming check ride
Lynn, how did you do on your checkride? Mine is in a month and I'm pretty nervous.
@@luissanchez1159 Hello, I passed! Practicing the oral part out loud really helped me, I watched a lot of checkride prep videos so I had plenty of questions to work with. Also, the few days leading up to my checkride I flew with my instructor as much as possible so everything was fresh and I felt confident. Good luck!
@@lynnwalker great information! Thanks so much!
Great Video! Subscribed!
The drink from the bag 😭😭😂😂
The absolute best checkride prep I’ve seen to date. Well done
Thanks for posting! My check ride is within 10 days, I feel I cannot prep enough, however your video is tremendous help.
how did it go? any advise? mine is in 8 days
Good Information.
That was absolutely amazing. Thanks a lot.
I enjoyed this video very much! Thanks Paul! My Private Pilot checkride is in 10 days! Lordy Lordy! Already nervous but confident too.
mine is in an hour lmao
Well Mikkii......did you pass??
SPD Music Productions yes!! the weather was absolute crap because it came up pretty fast (thanks florida), worst i’ve ever flown in (that’s my luck) so i think he took it easy on me. it was definitely nerve wrecking!!
Congratulations!!! So happy for you!!
Great video. Need help finding a good syllabus for a Commercial Single Engine Add-On. I already have my Commercial Multi/IFR. Can you advise me where to find this. Thanks.
My checkride oral was real hard. Suprised that I passed it but the flight portion went great. Probably should’ve studied more than the full 24hr prior and at least gotten some sleep.
crap im nervous after watching this
The What not to do had me crying 😭
Paul, were you with the 41st?
My check ride is the Feb 13th, I am nervous myself as I haven't really had any exams in over a decade since the college days.
I have mine tomorrow as well, good luck!
I have mine tomorrow as well, good luck!
Thanks for the great information. My check ride is in 4 days! I would add.... make sure your DPE's seatbelt strap is not twisted! (:
How did you do?
I passed!
Kevin W I know it’s a little late, but congrats!
@@melvinqjones Congrats!!!
OK, the part not to do had me laughing.
Please see Av Web channel from January 2017 where Paul Bertorelli quotes the Experts: "Good Audio Makes Good Video."
Yes, it is time for a ClipOn or Lavaliere-style microphone. That is, if you want to appear professional.
Kids haircut would be an automatic fail for me
What is the just quoted DPE question?
This is in a long list of vids I have been watching in prep for my checkride on the 19th of July, 2019. I feel that this was helpful and I thank you for putting it together (even with the cringe-worthy portions of the trashed bag and diarrhea mouth! xD )
Good luck!
DPE is a better actor, so calm
This kid was great!...LOL...Chick fil A up
My checkride is tomorrow and now I am scared
Did you pass?

Never had any contact with any of my DPE before the checkride. The owner of the school kept him behind the scenes, and one of the DPE's wife that took care of scheduling even refused to talk to me. Not sure what the mentality, legality, and liability of the position is all about. No matter what, it's a test, you will be nervous, do the best you can. Hopefully if you bust your IFR the school owner is not going to say, shame on you. Good luck.
Probably don’t want to appear as favoritism .
1:07 I had on my PPL, MEP, IR/ME and CPL skill test in joggings, trainers and a hoody. Believe it or not, I had 1st time passes in all of them. No one cares how you dress as long as the knowledge is there...
"Um, what if I don't remember to answer a question." ... then forget about getting your private's LOL
I was surprised that how to dress was the first question. Odd.
I think you can dress like yourself for your check ride. "Neat and clean" and "business casual" means something different to everyone and your personal comfort matters more than someone else's potential bias of what you look like. They're evaluating your skills not whether or not you can conform to their view of what a pilot "looks like". Otherwise good info though.
Why include the phone call he had in the video? very distracting.
😂
What not to do.
😂😂
lol
What he doesn’t tell you is if you fail any checkride the PRIA WILL SEE YOU and so will future employers so please DO NOT TEST UNTIL YOU ARE SURE YOU ARE READY.
Wait I’m not sure I understand what you are saying, what does a fail mean?
@@darthmichael12 Um, not pass?
CocoEspada yes, more specifically I was referring to what does it mean to your future employers? He said only him and the FAA will know of your failure.
Why does this kinda remind me of a brazzers video
