Hey Phill Ive just done a video on a switch EMMC repair it was a shorted MLCC on the EMMC board if you don’t mind checking it out hopefully help you out, have you ever had a shorted ceramic cap on a switch before ? Fuck the haters mate they are probably jealous of your skill, fast diagnostic methods and ability to preform complex repairs don’t waste your time on them. You know what standards you can film your videos at and how you want to execute them as long as you are comfortable that’s all that matters, I personally don’t see any reason for no one to dislike your videos, but they will your content is enjoyable, clear and perfectly watchable🤘😎
I really loved this video, even if it is a no direct fix you still show and explain so much so we all learn from your experiance so thank you very much for that. I was wondering what the burnmark on that one chip was? Is that a hint to a problem? Also you say that the nand and cpu are married but in which way? Is it by software or hardware id's or something? Oh also the new camera angles are really nice and make it overall nicer to watch so please leave then like they are now. Keep up the great video's m8 👍
Thanks mate. Yeah I didn't notice the burn mark until I was editing the video but it was a sign that the chip had an internal short. Yeah the cpu and nand are married by hardware ID I believe but there is a way around it, I just don't know how lol. Regarding the camera angles I'll be adjusting them next week anyway as I will be moving the workshop into my loft :)
These things happen. I have days like that where the brain overcomplicated the situation and I forgot to start at the simple and move to the hard fix. Great video and pity it didn't end better but most likely someone will be able to send you step by step guide to sorting it so you'll probably have that board back in action soon. Love the content 👍
Are you able to get your bis_key_03 by booting into "modded" version of the switch? If so you can swap out the CHIP and transfer the key to a new one. Lockpick should be able to get it
Hi Phil this is really bummer i hope somebody can help you. Doesn't know Andrew Paul not the solution for this problem.? Good work Regards Steve from Belgium
Very interesting video, like always, very cool to see all your repairs, that can help a lot of peoples, and repair shop, that maybe, don't know everything on every console :)
Like before watching bro 👍The software repairs is not that complicated like u imagine, everything on the UA-cam these days 😉 good luck for more repairs, thank you so much we like your videos, keep going.
@@TheCod3r I heard there's a lot of snow there in the UK this evening, so long time don't see snow at this time of the year ☃⛄☃❄❄ is there some near of your house?
Great effort, mate! Shame it didn't go quite as well as other repairs, but nonetheless you had lots of work to make it work. Keep showing us your magic! And it is magic sometimes! 😀
Hi I really like your videos and I learnt a lot in hardware switch but this time I would help you in software I think he just downgraded firmware this is why it is not booting on OFW you have to boot RCM mode with atmosphere to skip efuse check then upgrade to the latest firmware and it's good. I've done many in my shop bro 👌🏾 If you disable the RCM mode and the console is still stuck to RCM then it's hardware related.
My mate Vince recently posted a vid of a switch with a bad emmc also…under d comments of that video has methods of how to put back a next emmc on it and make it work
Cheers for this video and very interesting. As others have said it can be rebuilt without a back up but a long process. I think you will lose the actual id or serial. May be you can clone it with one of your broken board but not sure if this can be done. I have seen somewhere about nand uniqueness rebuild.
Hi pal Watch all videos and wanted to know have you considered do solderinh training I have about 600 to spend on tools Any recommendations on iron kit Heat gun multi metre etc to get me going
Hey Phil, could I ask what was the process that you didn’t understand was it a UA-cam video or an article or something? I would want to give it a go on a switch. Thanks
i found the solution y xbox one x and s power on and off, The champ remover tool the metal fork shape scratches the surface of the motherboard and breaking resistance
Hey, I have a Nintendo switch lite I am trying to get going for my kid but I can't get it passed a 0.99 amp charge, I've replaced chips and found no shorts, where should I look next?
More and more devices are based on NAND and more and more are none fixable because of that. So, it would be awesome, if someone would start to crack them and make them possible to use in some sort of universal way. But, I'm not there to try it :) yet. Maybe someone else ;).
rcm is a maintenance mode, its for finding out different things within a Switch. its like an engineers hidden software to find out all the details of a device. A Nand is the emmc is mainly like a computers hard drive.
Hey mate, I was curious if you had a suggestion for me. I bought a lot of 10 broken switches with some repair attempts made by an inexperienced tech. I can handle repair attempts but he had removed the nand from all of them and did not label which went with which system. Is there any way to distinguish which is mated to which board. As of right now I wouldn't even know if any repairs I do would have worked. Much appreciated!
Unfortunately, there is not a way to distinguish. Roulette is the game my friend. Unless you took video or pictures in the tear down process but I feel like you wouldn’t be asking then.
@@TheCod3r been looking into it its not a straight forward process for anyone so would likely give you a headache also would need a disclaimer on it as you could brick your device doing it incorrectly and like you said your not software person so its not worth taking the risk really Their are two methods as far as i understand software but i think with this your limited to exploitable switches not sure about the ones that are not The other way is hardware device like :- E-Mate X 13 in 1 BGA eMMC Chip Reader Writer i did wonder why you took that board out though as in its original casing it has the right serial no. so couldnt you have just added other bits to that one instead rather than taking the board out.
so using the hardware to fix this :- maybe their is someone out their who has tried this method & copied chip then wrote to a new chip then reinstall it and see if it works but i just cant see someone doing that well maybe its worth it and maybe their are other things you can do but it all costs alot of money i think you said you got your blogger camera now are you doing a review of it the 4k one
I don't get why would Nintendo make the nand with an unmountable socket only to have it married with something in the board. It's like making it appear replaceable but only for mocking that it's not. Also the m92 chip you replaced might have been good, then.
@@TheCod3r I've original nvidia shield tablet using same chip has switch and the original psp and they work flawlessly but I might pick a switch up to run some roms soon I'll probably email you see what you have or can get

Yeah this one was definitely hardware mate, I confirmed the nand to be dead by testing in another switch

Yeah I do know there's a way, I'll take a look at the comments and see what I find. Thanks bud
Brilliant video mate. Do you use hekate to exploit a switch?
Vince had the same problem on his last video at least ya got some parts or maybe down the road try to rebuild the nand
Ah my mans from near Brum 🤙👍 if I need a repair then 👍
will need the encryption keys from the dead emmc thou im backing up all the keys from now on
@Mymatevince had exactly the problem on his latest video, i wonder if he could figure out the software to restore the EMMC??
300 miles ya I do that alot at my job a 6hr or 8hr ride maybe be there a few days up to a few weeks the traveling gets old

New chip remarriage and done but just like me remarriage is is a long difficult process and not to be taken lightly. 😅
its fixable I fix one 4 months ago for my kid lol wish I can buy that one 4 you
Captec did a nand restore before, he did a stream on it. I think there has to be a backup of the original though.
Yeah I pointed vince to his video but my nand is dead with no backup unfortunately

It's possible to install android on them but I see no use in it personally, but I might do a video on how to do it 😁
Someone said to hold the power button down for 10 seconds to exit rcm mode or recovery mode.
And if the battery is completely flat to let it charge for 20 minutes then try again
Ok I am a noob to this. What is RCM mode? Also what is a nand? Oh and a EMMC?

I use an Amscope SM-4B microscope

There's a lot of them in circulation, and because they're handheld devices they get broken a lot easier
