The Marmonts got what was coming for them. Rudolf deserved so much better; he was such a nice man in AW1. With how exploitative and arrogant the Marmonts were, the entire storyline made me pretty nauseous. The manuscript page about Rudolf's death made me tear up. They tortured that man until he had nothing left, and then called his suicide "a set-back."
@@CrystalWings12 I also felt that the DLC implies that Alan’s/Ed Booker’s inclusion of the Marmonts into the manuscripts took their insecurities about each other and amplified them to the point they become monsters. There’s a page that describes Diana fondly recollecting Jules’ smile before her and her office were taken over by the Darkness. That and a couple of other similar pages suggest to me that their love is still there somewhere.
@@RagulViknesh It's really sad because all those were gone the moment they became Taken. Even then, Diana's hatred towards Jules is so strong, she went after her husband first before she set her gaze on Estevez.
The suicide was by Jules' nudging. He believed the art was "inside," Rudolf. On the other hand, they were not monsters. You get hints of their personalities before turning into monsters, feelings every person may have, as well as doubts and insecurities. Alan simply used it to create yet another horror story. This is like saying a naive child got what it's coming for them because they didn't know any better. I mean this is basically what every single "Taken," is going through. Their negative thoughts getting cranked up to extreme, taking only a small mistake, combined with Alan's horror story.
I want to point out that The Bureau didn’t know what they were doing at The Lake House-they were working behind the Bureau’s back. We know this because in Control and in the base game, Estevez mentions that The Lake House hasn't reported their research to the investigations department. Also, at the end of the DLC, you can read an email saying that Darling prohibited The Lake House from doing human experiments, but they went ahead with it anyway, without authorization.

The story of control was ok imo, i think in control not necessarily the story is good but the worldbuilding is exceptional. In Alan Wake 2 i really like the story, but navigating the world was a really, really bad experience, i had to look up guides multiple times since i did not understand what i should do next or where i should go, a problem i never had in Alan Wake 1, any of its DLC or Alan Wake american nightmare. Sometimes i think the character just stating "i shoud do X next" to give the player a hint when you are clearly stuck, would be a big help. The Lake House DLC was i think a better gameplay experience, but i still sometimes had problems. For example i was in -1, there was a Level 3 Access Card hidden on floor -1, my goal was, according to the UI "Get to Sublevel -5" which i needed a Level 3 Acces card, which was hidden in -1, so i expected there a way to aquire the Level 3 Access card in floor -1 without leaving it. Only when i looked up a guide i unserstand that i had to leave floor -1 despite the card i have to aquire to reach the goal the game set for me was on that level.
I really like how Lake House speaks on how corporations don't understand art but desperately want it. The using of AI to recreate Alan Wake's writing but could never get it right. Demanding more and more art from a man until he grew to hate art.
the symbol that appears on screen when meeting dylan tells me that all 6 symbols on the 6 doors in the oceanview motel in control correlate to a specific game. Black Pyramid is Control, Spiral is Alan Wake 2, and the symbol that appears in the lake house (which looks to me a magnifying glass on top of a broken circle) is Control 2. The last 2 are unconfirmed but the venn diagram looking one was supposed to be for a multiplayer game Remedy was developing with Tencent however it was cancelled in November 2023, and since then Remedy has announced FBC Firebreak which is also a multiplayer game I wouldn't be surprised if the venn diagram now correlates to that game.

This DLC was absolutely worth every rand spent (fan from South Africa😁😁) I appreciated the exploration into the FBC and how they are not a unilateral cohesive unit, especially after lockdown due to the Hiss invasion. It made me think more on why HQ is still on lockdown even after Jesse stopped majority of the Hiss invasion in Control. The fact that they showed Dylan towards the end of the game looking more older but still in containment tells me that things did not go as planned and Jesse is still fighting to this very day or is caught up with another hostile entity that entered the Oldest House. I cannot wait for the sequel of Control.
The third S could stand for Secrets, It could be a hint at the title of Control 2. Control: Secrets, sounds like a pretty meta name, and fitting because that's what the Bureau does, and presumably we'd be exploring more secrets about the Bureau in the next game. But since its actually a C, it could just be a wink to the name Control, and the purpose of the Bureau . So it would be: Safety, Security and Control. Either way, cool.
In Alan Wake 1, I took the story for granted, seeing the manuscript pages as just part of the plot-predicting events that would inevitably happen. But in Alan Wake 2, I've noticed that certain character details, like those of Saga, the Old Gods, Zane, and Mr. Door, are rarely mentioned. This could mean that powers beyond Alan’s reach aren't included because he couldn't draw inspiration from what he couldn’t "see," unlike Saga or the Old Gods.
This dlc was really good. I just super wish it were longer. It had all these new and awesome elements to it but it might has well been a side quest I bought for $20.
I felt sooo sorry for what they did to poor Rudolph 😭 The Marmonts absolutely got what they deserved, their ambitions without moral restraints made them monsters from the start.
I love how surprised they are that the The Shadow infects the Lake House and kills everyone. Like.... Oh no.... who knew? That dude we were torturing reacted with The Shadow, and now wants us dead. Surprise Pikachu face. They have to be the dumbest smart people.
I find it hard to believe that the Hiss invasion has been going on for four years. For one, the people inside the Oldest House would have died after just one year in there after running out of resources like food and ammo. I think the presence of the Bright Falls AWE plus a few other documents found there that should I have happened yet, like the one mentioning how the watch station was damaged by “raccoons” points to another possibility. Time inside the Oldest House is out of sync with the outside, possibly a side effect of the lockdown. While to the outside four years have passed, inside it’s been weeks, months at most.
I never said it was still going on. The last we saw in Control, the remaining agents were looking to clear what was left of the Hiss. I don’t know why the Oldest House is still dark, but I guess we will have to wait until Control 2 in order to find out.
@ I didn’t say you did. I was just saying what I thought. The Oldest House has been dark for four years from the outside’s perspective, but I don’t think it was from the inside’s perspective.
So, my theory is that Jules is right, actually. Censorship doesn't make sense as the 3rd S, but what if it was never about censoring with a C, but sensoring with an S. Little phrases have power in the Remedyverse, and a little workplace neumonic was actually pretty frowned upon back in the FBC if we remember the document collectibles of Control. Theres a lot given to these games through intuition, being able to sense the danger is here and now so it doesn't immediately eat you. The Lakehouse failed at this, only Jules seemed to piece it together that the dark place was bot to be taken lightly, but even then that didn't stop him from pushing Rudolph over the edge. Jesse is alive because she trusted both her own intuition and that of Polaris, trusting that Polaris will cover her from the hiss. Dylan being there, seemingly escaping his coma and the lockdown of the Oldest House, quickly comes to an end when he says theres something happening outside, and how he asks Kieran to tell Jesse he tried. Ultimately, if we read censorship more as sensory, then ut makes a lot more sense cosidering the themes, and might point to mechanics put into Control 2.
The circle is also featured in the Control 2 ”vision”. This dlc made me think of the Zane/Darling meeting in New Game + which implied a collaboration between art and science as a way out of the dark place.
What I love about the Alan Wake / Remedyverse is that it's never fully clear if life is imitating art or vice versa. The Lake House DLC is a perfect example of it. The rift between the Marmonts seems to predate any of the writings, but is it possible they were written even earlier and they only found them after, or did the writer get wind of their issues and incorporate them into the story? Alan Wake is a bit timey-wimey, so it could even be a bit of both ... an ongoing chicken vs. egg scenario. Also, remember that there is a multi-player Remedyverse game (FBC: Firebreak) coming out before Control 2. More likely the circles are referring to that game ... Spirals for Alan Wake, Inverted Pyramids for Control, Circles for Project CONDOR ... the third C.
Wake's pages and the Marmonts' paranoia makes me wonder. Is it because of Wake's writings that the Marmonts turned out that way (akin to fate) or was it specifically because of themselves that Wake wrote those pages. Questioning the chicken or the egg so to speak, was it Wake that made them into monsters or did the monsters make Wake write those pages in the first place?
People tend to forget every single thing happening in this story, is written by Alan. Even the characters doubting the story, written by him. Maybe even Saga, her powers, Old Gods of Asgard... The events of this story works as an overlap itself maybe... Alan made Jules be afraid of the pages, Alan made Jules go after Rudolf, Alan made Diana go with her own research... It's all Alan... Or Scratch. Are the stakes real? Is the switch simply going to turn everything back to normal? Marmonts coming back one day maybe?
You're doing an amazing job not only explaining the whole story from a mind bending game but doing it so smoothly that it sounds like you're all over behind the writing and sh*t
I think the circles symbolize the loop or cycle of life or rather an oroburos maybe? The snake eating itself would be a crazy plot point for control 2. The Hiss vs The Darkness both vying for control while we as Jesse, Saga, and Agent Esteves try to stop both with random appearances from Ahti, Alan, and Sheriff Breaker would be dope. Also, what’s with sheriffbreaker and Mr. Door? I love the little aside that DLC and story rabbit while creates but it’s definitely confusing
That to me is the most confusing thing. Why would they both be shown at the same time? Does it have something to do with bridging between two points in time? Two different realities? It's hard to say at this point.
It almost feels like a bit of ancommentary on the recent surge of Ai in the art field and how it will never be real art, just a machine imitating an existing artists’ style.
The quality and amount of creepy/interesting/cerebral game content you produce is just amazing sir lol... I'm fascinated by games that takes a person's subconscious fear/tramas/pain and transforms them into a being or creature they must overcome....lol to me it's kind of like hardcore therapy? Insanely dangerous yeah... but maybe really cathartic at the end? OR just drives the person completely insane...ehhh? lol I just realized how much I sound like all the doctors and scientists in these games... it's just a thought experiment I swear... Major praise and props to your channel Gaming Harry...
I found this DLC to be a very interesting take on IA and art debate, just got a little confused how it connected with Alan Wake story i will need to replay it
This blind praise and comparing his voice to therapy is wow... I'm sure many UA-camrs are 'therapeutic' to you if you like them that is... On horror games on top of that. Kind of twisted
@@keip4568Who are you to judge what someone finds comforting? Enjoying horror isn’t twisted at all, it’s been psychologically shown that people tend to enjoy horror because it’s a controlled kind of scary, meaning you can turn it off at any time. It eases anxiety because of that. And I agree that Harry’s voice is wonderful, he does an amazing job narrating and writing his scripts. That’s not blind praise, mate.
The whole theme with spiral reminds me of ito's manga called utamazi (if im spelling it correctly). Pretty cool if sam lake was inspired by ito and lovecraft. I see remedys "horror" genre games as a loveletter to famous ceeators and shows like twin peak etc
Hi love the lore videos was wondering if you would do one on an old rts called supreme commander idk if it has enough lore for your videos but it be really cool to see you cover it
And what about the parautilitarian that escaped the Dark Place / containment (Don't remember which one specifically)? The one that seems to reference POE in the Marmonts office.
This DLC was much better than the first one, which felt like a fan service filler episodes. The horror elements were back, the threshold had memorable set pieces and the difficulty felt appropriate. That said, I'm not too deep in Control lore and I just can't find enough time or interest to finish it, so the tease for the future title didn't excite me that much. This DLC did made me feel like it left me hanging when it comes to Alan's story and I had the expectations it would push the narrative similar to what American Nightmare did. I guess we'll have to wait for AW3 to get some conclusion to Wake's story, but it's been what 10 or so years between AW1 and 2, so yea... This is one of the reasons why I do not enjoy these "expanded" universes, because they require me to be up to date with titles that are outside of the ones I'm invested in.
I thought the circles were about how normally the darkplace flows as a spiral but as Alan said, the AI generated writing didn't lead it anywhere, thus a closed circle with no way else to go.
hi harry, i think since all of the games from Remedy Universe is all connected (except Max Payne and Quantum Break). maybe we can use ur help to explain what is really happening in all of the Remedy Universe, you dont need to go into little detail but little explaining with the timeline would be really helpful. thank you.
I figured the third S being censorship was kind of a joke, like he didn't want people to censor themselves. Kind of like the "The 'S' in 'IoT' stands for 'security," joke being that there is no S in IoT, and therefore no security.
Dang l was hoping to get a bit more understanding with the girl that had escaped with her song in the in the marmonts glass office. Stop a great video tho!
I thought this dlc was mid like all their dlcs, they are way to short to settle in, imo It was kinda done as soon as it picked up the pace, I wanted to see more art explored, learn more about the musician Also, the paintings where scarier before they took the shape of a guy, the swirling patterns and the faceless paintings where a lot better, not sure how they should have made the enemy look, but a lot more abstract imo Cool setting, lack luster game-play, and an unfinished story Also, was I the only one who had no resources left when I got to the boss? The last area before the boss contained only bullets, no health, no black stone I had to kill the boss with 1 health left, which made it an intense boss fight, but still (just a minor nitpick tbh)
"It wouldn't be an Alan Wake video without more questions than answers" -Gaming Harry I have a questions, why isn't the DLC focused on the title character of the game?... Perhaps a its a way to wedge in a new title into "universe?" 🤷🏻♂️
@@GamingHarryYT You're probably right?. Or the devs just had to shoe-horn another generic female character in, for "reasons?" My money is on the ladder option.
@@zachs.murray6003 if they called it Bright Falls would you have wanted to play as Bright Falls? That's what the game is about, the main character is the space not the people
Well, at least Alan Wake was still in the centre of the story even though only half of the game we played as him. But, from the entire story, the real main character was and still is Saga Anderson (and the Andersons) because they have the power to counter the scratch that tried to use Alan. So, there is nothing wrong if the title should be about Saga the real protagonist, like Saga's Wake (because her power woke up the first time in this game) or Anderson's Moonshine, or something like that.
That’s not true at all. According to a Google Search, you play as Alan for about 55% of the game. So just over half. His sections in the Dark Place were very long.
The legend of Zelda, you rarely ever get to play as Zelda. Just because it has his name doesn’t mean you have to play as him. The story is still very much about him. Or rather, the events started with him in Bright Falls. Though much of the game is also about the Anderton’s, it’s still centered on his stories, his big bad, his world etc.

Gaming Harry dropping content on the regular is a thing of beauty. I'm here for it!
It's about bloody time!
Yeah, sorry. This one took a bit longer to get out than expected 😂
It almost feels like a bit of ancommentary on the recent surge of Ai in the art field and how it will never be real art, just a machine imitating an existing artists’ style.
idk why but the paintings on the wall reminded me of DR.Who episode where theres 2d monster that made every victim into 2D.
Desperately waiting for Harry's Silent hill 2 remake video
hope he does one
Lets go. I was just done watching the A Quiet Place vid and was wondering about what else was gonna drop.
Thanks so much. Been waiting for this
Haven't been this early in a while, perfect video to tide us over for halloween
Amazing as always! Thank you Harry 🔥
The circle could imply a ring of sorts, like a portal
God I can’t wait for more from this universe. I love it so much.
Greet video man thank u for ur work ur videos get me throw the day !! Ty
Oh thank God!! I was having withdrawals 🤣🤣
Yes! I've been waiting for this from you.
I found this DLC to be a very interesting take on IA and art debate, just got a little confused how it connected with Alan Wake story i will need to replay it
The entire staff of Lake House looking at Jules and Diane: "WHY COULDNT YOU TWO HAVE A NORMAL DIVORCE?!"
nice video as always mate, have you ever thought about doing a video on ''the binding of isaac' series?
Hey man, I really appreciate these videos, like seriously. Thank you
Love the sound of your voice, really. I can listen to it for hours. Falling asleep to your videos is like therapy
That’s not blind praise, mate.
what a great DLC makes me want Control 2 to release even more!
Iden Versio is in Alan Walker it seems.
Damn I want an Alan Wake 1 remake now. Bring it up visually and gameplay wise to 2024
I like that they spoke to real world issues and the use of AI and art
The whole theme with spiral reminds me of ito's manga called utamazi (if im spelling it correctly). Pretty cool if sam lake was inspired by ito and lovecraft. I see remedys "horror" genre games as a loveletter to famous ceeators and shows like twin peak etc
Will you be making a video on the silent hill remake? Also great video I watched these videos all the time
Big W to get a good sponsor on a video youd make regardless get that bag brother
just did this DLC, Pretty good! 👍👍👍👍
Was literally waiting for you to
Hi love the lore videos was wondering if you would do one on an old rts called supreme commander idk if it has enough lore for your videos but it be really cool to see you cover it
Alan IS Scratch, Taken Alan isn't Scratch
I thought the circles were about how normally the darkplace flows as a spiral but as Alan said, the AI generated writing didn't lead it anywhere, thus a closed circle with no way else to go.
hi harry, i think since all of the games from Remedy Universe is all connected (except Max Payne and Quantum Break). maybe we can use ur help to explain what is really happening in all of the Remedy Universe, you dont need to go into little detail but little explaining with the timeline would be really helpful. thank you.
Maybe, if I have a spare 50 years to make a video
@@GamingHarryYT DAMN, well see you in 2074 then
quantum break is connected, look up "quantum break blackboard" it has all of the alan wake universe written on there
I figured the third S being censorship was kind of a joke, like he didn't want people to censor themselves. Kind of like the "The 'S' in 'IoT' stands for 'security," joke being that there is no S in IoT, and therefore no security.
damn this channel is amazing, love all the lore videos
Page 10 is a direct twin to the hiss incantation.
Dang l was hoping to get a bit more understanding with the girl that had escaped with her song in the in the marmonts glass office. Stop a great video tho!
Hey Harry? Any thoughts on the Final Draft Ending?
I was so eagerly waiting for your video 😊❤❤
Was looking forward to this.
Harry! @GamingHarryYT I need a Pneumata explained video. I’m still so confused lol I trust you
Haha I’ll stick it on the list
😂 Harry is our lore master.
Did you miss the page from the painting hallway in sublevel 2?
Edit: Maybe I got the location of the page wrong.
8:00 I would be scared. 15:00 😱.24:15 Oh. 28:30 🥶.
34:30 😱. 35:45 Oh. 37:00 😱. 37:15 😭.
37:44 "That's the Joke"
Jules became an ass but, when he was sane, he was right. He even tried to slowed down the damage still while starting corruption.
Diana was buggin'
Did Harry talk about The Final Draft?
It's so fucked up! I loved it
Yessss
Maybe instead of censorship it's sensor ship?
finally
Are you gonna cover the until dawn remake? I heard that there's many new things on that game
I thought this dlc was mid like all their dlcs, they are way to short to settle in, imo
It was kinda done as soon as it picked up the pace, I wanted to see more art explored, learn more about the musician
Also, the paintings where scarier before they took the shape of a guy, the swirling patterns and the faceless paintings where a lot better, not sure how they should have made the enemy look, but a lot more abstract imo
Cool setting, lack luster game-play, and an unfinished story
Also, was I the only one who had no resources left when I got to the boss? The last area before the boss contained only bullets, no health, no black stone
I had to kill the boss with 1 health left, which made it an intense boss fight, but still (just a minor nitpick tbh)
the SSS might have to do with the hiss
I’m Julian Jules omg
the 3 s's appear because dante did a smokin sexy stylish combo.
The third S it could really be for Sirens? That would be the real meaning of the censorship S. Like the website in the notes on the Mormons ofice 🤔
"It wouldn't be an Alan Wake video without more questions than answers" -Gaming Harry
I have a questions, why isn't the DLC focused on the title character of the game?... Perhaps a its a way to wedge in a new title into "universe?" 🤷🏻♂️
Doubt it. This DLC was a slight bridge between Alan Wake and Control. It’s obvious that Remedy are trying to build a bigger universe here.
@@GamingHarryYT You're probably right?. Or the devs just had to shoe-horn another generic female character in, for "reasons?" My money is on the ladder option.
@@zachs.murray6003 if they called it Bright Falls would you have wanted to play as Bright Falls? That's what the game is about, the main character is the space not the people
honesty i felt like the story of aw2 was a step down from aw1 and control just feels like a lot of outside interference to me
❤
Security
Safety
Silence
The Wake House
Well, at least Alan Wake was still in the centre of the story even though only half of the game we played as him.
But, from the entire story, the real main character was and still is Saga Anderson (and the Andersons) because they have the power to counter the scratch that tried to use Alan.
So, there is nothing wrong if the title should be about Saga the real protagonist, like Saga's Wake (because her power woke up the first time in this game) or Anderson's Moonshine, or something like that.
I don't like alan woke but i love listening to Harry explain stuff 😁
I think you're my favorite UA-camr, if i had money i would donate everything lol
In a game named alan wake.
Only 35% of it you can play as him
That’s not true at all. According to a Google Search, you play as Alan for about 55% of the game. So just over half. His sections in the Dark Place were very long.
@GamingHarryYT I included the side contents and the DLCs
Alan is disposed in most of the story, but by the end he is in full control. Whenever we get an AW3, we will likely only play as him.
Do uncharted please!
Can you do "The Scourge"
Its really popular in Vietnam and talks a lot about Vietnamese folk lores
