Glad to hear that!!! I use mine to join a nightly Net on a 440 repeater. The repeater is 20 miles away and everyone can hear me clearly from the inside comfort of my recliner using the stock antenna. I do use the Wouxun external mic with it for convenience. I plan on doing a follow up with a few quirks I noticed that BuyTwoWayRadio said was normal. Enjoy. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I own 3 of these radios, and might even get another one. You can unlock/lock this radio from the keypad during power up. These radios are IP67 rated for dust, and immersion in water for up to 1 meter for up to 30min.
To unlock: Hold “2” while turning on. The password is 1445 (happens to be the last 4 digits of BTWR tech supports phone number). To lock: Hold “1” while turning on. No password is needed.
@@RoamingWhispers Glad to hear you’re enjoying the radios. Thanks for then helpful info. Curious as to if you have experienced the same two issues as I have…..that is the reverse direction of the knob for the long-press menu and the bit of play in the volume knob. Better Two Way Radios replied back to me initially for more info and I’ve been waiting to hear back from them. I will call them and follow up tomorrow Thanks for commenting and watching.
@@EverydayATV my experience with the volume knob on all 3 radios was not initial play, it does have a detent that gives it the “click” when turning on and off. But at first I did have a little more resistance on roughly the first 1/4 of its rotation. That has all been eliminated by normal use of the radios, it’s nice and smooth after the detent now As far as the long-press menu; although I never noticed it until this video, all of my radios do the same as yours, and I have one with the older version of firmware and 2 with the newer version, like yours (differentiated by the “last call” feature. Aka the flashing “phone” on the last channel to RX). I will eventually set up an appointment to have tech support remote in to my computer and update. I am sure if I wait long enough, they will have the issue you mentioned corrected in one of their versions, although it doesn’t bother me as it is right now since everything is set up.
Thanks. Yes you can get the display to show and monitor only one frequency by long pressing the TDR/Mode button. It’s kind of crappy how Wouxun does it because when you go to a single display, the top area doesn’t get and bigger, rather the bottom area just displays the KG-Q10H name. On my Radioddity GMRS radio, when you go to a single frequency display, you can display both the channel name and the frequency in the entire display. I wish the Wouxun would do this. Thanks for commenting and watching.
Unfortunately, no not legally. You have to have a radio that is FCC Part 95 certified specifically as a GMRS radio. For that reason, while I have all my GMRS frequencies and repeaters programmed into this new KG-Q10H, I still use my KG-935G Plus to transmit on for the weekly GMRS Net I join. Thanks for commenting and watching.
I just confirmed with Randy that the radio I have is not legal. I will have to send it back and get legal one. I live in Evanston and hopefully I can join the role call this upcoming sunday. @@EverydayATV
Bought one of these and while I like it, the supplied charger base does not work with my radio. It gets dangerously hot at the plug in. I've tried a replacement with the same result. Charges fine with the USBC.
I’ve always used the USB-C on the radio to charge the battery. That said, I wanted to try the charging base after you mentioned your issue. I’ve tried it 3 times and each time it never gets hot. Was the replacement a charging base replacement or the radio or both? If it was only the charging base, maybe the radio or the battery is causing the overheating issue. Did you try contacting Better Safe Radio to get their opinion on the problem? Also one last suggestion…probably not the case but wanted to mention it anyways. When you slide the radio into the charging base, are you sure the tabs are aligned with the slots on the radio so that the radio sits firmly against the charging pins? The reason I ask is I had noticed my radio is very difficult to get seated into the charger properly. It always seems like only one side is in the slot and the other side is not and thus doesn’t make full contact with the charging pins. Bottom line is, the charging base should not get hot. Hope that helps Thanks for watching and sharing your story.
Good question. Having both the Q10 (ham version) and 935G Plus, they both have their positives and negatives. I’ll start with the Q10. It does have a superhetrodyne receiver, which 935 does not. While I do like the multiple programmable function keys, I’m not a fan of the dual PTT buttons. Not a deal breaker for me since I usually use my Wouxun external mic. The functions on the keys are in blue and hard to read with or without the backlight. The 935 keys are easier to read with the backlighting. While they both have the same color screen layout and they both have the same font for the active area on the display, the Q10 has a smaller font for some reason on the secondary area. The speaker is on the bottom third of the radio whereas on the 935G it’s in the middle. I don’t mind the stacked volume and selector knobs on the Q10 vs the separate knobs on the 935 but the 935 knobs are stiffer and feel more professional. The Q10 knobs feel cheaper. I don’t like on the Q10 that to switch areas on the radio you have to long press the area button since it serves a different function with a short press. On the 935, it’s only a short press. Both radios have USB-C charging ports but on the Q10 it’s on the side of the radio whereas on the 935G (Plus Version only) it’s on the battery. This makes it nice if you have a spare battery in that it does not have to be attached to the radio to charge it. The Q10 has GPS, which is nice if you’re using it with other Q10 radios. If not, you’re paying for something you won’t use. The Q10 does have a better organized menu that split into two. A short press on the menu button brings up the menus specific to the channel you are on. A long press are menu items specific to the general radio setup. It’s a tough call between the two. I think the 935 is a great value for the money as it’s less expensive than the Q10, especially if you’ll never use the GPS. I also like the look and feel of the 935 just a tiny bit more. Just be aware that both screen are hard to read outside in the bright light. For that reason, I’ll sometimes take my Btech GMRS V2 in my car with me instead of the 935. Hope that helps.
@@EverydayATV thanks i ended up getting the Q10, you have a great point with the gps function but didn’t think of it. anyways i noticed you talked about the sunday meet up how can one go about that? just wondering im from nyc but maybe there’s one closer to me.
@@chris12x1 curious to know of your Q10 for GMRS had the same two issues I have with my Q10 for ham. The first is that there is some play in the selection ring under the volume knob when you lift up on it. The other is that when you short press the menu button, when you turn the selection knob clockwise, you go thru the menu numbers in the normal way. When you are in the long press menu, clockwise goes backwards thru the menus and selection choices. Poor programming on Wouxuns part. BUy Two Way Radios says both of these issues are normal. The weekly GMRS net is a public safety group that checks in every Sunday night. They basically do a roll call to make sure everyone’s radios can get in. On the 70cm ham side, I join a local radio clubs nightly net. This net is more social based and is enjoyable to hear what all the club members did that day. The way I found both of these is by searching for nets online in my local area. Also go out to RepeaterBook and MyGMRS to search for repeaters in your area. Then do a google search for that repeater and see if it is run by a local club. To be honest, you’ll find more local clubs on the ham side than on the GMRS side. I listened in on the nightly ham net for about a month and then decided to take my technician license to be able to join and talk to them. About a month of online studying for the test and I passed with no problem. Be aware, GMRS was a gateway drug for getting me into ham, lol.

How does it do on GMRS unlocked versus the 935g
