I remember this hostel very well. I was first in and got a good bed. The third person was an Italian, who came by taxi and collapsed in the middle of the dormitory. He had COVID, the ambulance came and confirmed this. He refused to go to hospital and slept in the middle of the room. Everyone else moved to the other room.
...walking 30+ kilometers a day partly in the heat feels like a lot... yet I also grew stronger and stronger on my caminos, until it wasn't an issue anymore... I wonder what you might be thinking of, Nadine, when walking... I thought a lot about my life, the past, future dreams, while finding the way, getting food and a bed, moved after a while almost to autopilot - at least on the Frances... there was always plenty... of course on the La Plata you need to be more forward planning as everything substantial is more rare to find... you look quite happy and peaceful during this and the last few stages... the simple life can feel so rewarding... the physical (feet, skin, stomach...) getting more attention than the monkey mind... 😎🚶♀🌄
So very true, by walking alone you fall into introspection which I used to ask forgiveness from those I might have wronged & turn forgive those they wronged me, giving thanks, remenbered great & simple moments in my life, things that I had not thought of for decades. I believe the Camino molds in us a better human being if we are receptive to the lessons it offers. Buen Camino fellow pilgrim🙏
I am amazed at how much distance you can cover each day. My boyfriend and I struggled with our 20km stages. We can't imagine doing 30 or more - seems impossible! Your body is so strong - good for you! :)
Thanks for posting this. I'm an avid hiker, planning to do my first Camino in 2024. But I'm wondering how I'll complete the longer stages. I suppose that a bit of struggle & being tired is part of the experience?
@@kerryjlynch1The key is walking long distances with a 15-20 lbs backack everyday in all kinds of terrains. I am also an avid hiker but still caught me by surprise ... factor into your schedule a couple of rest days and you should be fine ... Buen Camino Pilgrim🙏
What an adventure! Quote for the day…. “Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome.” Arthur Ashe - Legendary tennis champion.
Pretty much the same words by a Spanish painter who was so overwhelmed by the Camino that he inscribed those words in a stone at little village near Santo Domingo
Pro-tip: if it's too hot to wear a long sleeved top, but too cool to have no sleeves at all, it might be prudent to carry the type of arm warmers cyclists use.
I've been alarmed by the crashing around of deer in the forest due to the sound of me alarming them. I've felt they could have accidentally run me over on the trail and it would have really hurt. Maybe standing behind a tree would be the safest thing to do. I liked the beautiful opening picture of the church by the stream. A very attractive spot.
Aww, I too remember this hostel. Not sure why most of the hostels in Galicia have kitchens with little to no equipment. So, the “orejas “ at the bar were delicious. btw the clothing line is behind the hostel 😄
I think walking solo on the Camino is very safe! On this particular stretch (the VdlP/Sanabres), since I walked in summer it was very empty. During the day I felt totally fine- and mostly the nights were fine but sometimes I wished I wasn't the only one in the albergues. But unless you walk the lesser-traveled Caminos (or a more popular one like this but in the off-season), then you will be around more pilgrims! I did a video on solo-female safety on the Camino, this might help! ua-cam.com/video/usRvZJoe3Z4/v-deo.html
It’s strange- I walked in a circle around the albergue and couldn’t find anything!! Very weird… (maybe I’d walked too far that day and was a little delirious! 😂)
I remember the auberge and the noisy soda machine with the 1 euro beer. Your videos bring back the feelings of long days walking combined with the apprehension then either disappointment or joy if the expected bar/store/restaurant was open.@@NadineWalks

Auction off your walking stick at end of your pilgrimage. It is worth $$$$ 😊
Looks like a lovely day Nadine. Yes, going out for beer is pretty nice, especially when you've been walking alone all day :)

If you walk regularly, it is quite posible but you have to build that strength ... obviously Nadine has👍

Again, touched by your sharing. I too wonder how your thoughts live throughout your day, what you bring back home that affects your daily life.
Yeah, those days when the body takes over to get you where you need to be... noithing like it, eh? Cheers and adventure on!
😁👏♥️♥️🙏☕☕

Found a cold Beer , a good end to a perfect day .
Awww, a cold beer on a hot day it is manna from heaven 😊
Wow! Wildlife! Really liked that path in the trees with the stones on each side.
33KM. You go girl! Keep on Truckin’. Buen Camino
Thank you!! Long stages, but really beautiful :)
Stunning ❤ How safe is walking solo really.. I really want this journey. So stunningly beautiful 😍

@@NadineWalksNadine, you rock ... plain & simple👏
What happened to your carrying coffee and breakfast of some sort?
Such a beautiful video. Thank you again for sharing. Your videos bring moments of peace in a pretty chaotic world. ☮️
That is the peace that El Camino brings with each step you take🙏
A very nice day Nadine and you are now into a good rhythmn ... Buen Camino
My Camino legs really kicked in!!
Hot day like the other days hahahaha. In the country wolfs take care. Buen Camino.
Stayed in this place; the laundry washing/drying area is in the back. Had a good time in town as it was a local feast day.
