- On Saturday, May 4, 2024, I, TFC Antonio May, was driving eastbound on Interstate 30 in the left lane when I observed a white Hyundai Sonata with a North Carolina license plate KMZ1558 in the right lane. The Hyundai was following too closely to an 18-wheeler. I activated my lights and sirens near the 50-mile marker, but the driver of the Hyundai failed to yield and began to flee. I advised dispatch and continued to pursue the vehicle, reaching speeds of 134 MPH. The pursuit continued up to the 62-mile marker where the driver of the vehicle began to weave in and out of traffic. At the 63-mile-marker at speeds of 119 MPH, the vehicle then passed four semi-trucks on the right-hand shoulder of the roadway. Once back on the roadway, I continued to pursue the vehicle reaching speeds up to 134 MPH. At the 66-mile-marker the car continued to pass multiple vehicles on the right-hand shoulder of the roadway at speeds of 96 MPH. While continuing to pursue the vehicle, Trp. Matt Hall advised that he was sitting stationary around the 78 marker waiting to deploy the spike strips. Once the vehicle approached the spikes, the driver of the vehicle then pulled over onto the shoulder to a complete stop. Both the driver and passenger were then placed into custody without incident. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Marquita Doby and the passenger was identified as Jasper Goodwin.

The most impressive part of this was watching a Hyundai hit 130mph without the engine blowing or random parts just peeling off from the wind shear.

Actually, they do. Had a chase in Texas a few years back where some a**hole in a hellcat outran the helicopter. After maybe 20 minutes at 160MPH, the driver pulled over, bailed, and ran into the woods. Turns out a Hellcat doesn't get good gas mileage at that speed, and he ran out of gas.

There was a couple that rented a car from a airport on flordia. The only reason they stopped was because they ran out of gas. The police told the female she didn't have to go to jail if she would rat out her boyfriend. She didn't and they both caught felonies. She must didn't realize she wouldn't in the jail cell as him

I'm impressed with the dash cam. 135 and the picture is still relatively clear? Nice. Even more impressed a Sonata got that close to losing the pursuit. (even if it was a 135 max pursuit vehicle)
Crazy thing is she was prepared to run for his sake, but I bet he denies he had anything to do with it and will walk because he is "just the passenger." Unless he has warrants... we can hope.

there's NO WAY that sonata got up to 134. all kia's and Hiundai's are ECU locked at 120 because of the H or V stock tires from the factory

For those wondering about these new Hyundais, yep that new series is fast, also the N series are literal bullets. Seems like these just dethroned the Nissans as the choice for the criminals on a budget.

It hauls ass and was built well. Decent fit and finish too. Not on par with Toyota but they are super expensive if you can find a NEW one outside of CALI. I wish I could afford a new Genesis . Alas, I will stick with my supercharged Buick. It is a sleeper with some tricks built in. We modified it from stem to stern. I like a good "stock sleeper" when it comes to my cars. There is nothing like the look on the face of some rich prick in a Porsche or whatever piece of shyte they might "own" who gets his or her doors blown off midstream. Not off the line, midstream.
