Breaking Blue at the Spring '24 Back The Byway meet, 4 bent wheels among other things first time out

- So the first days out on the new build (days 1 & 2) of the Spring 2024 Back the Byway were rough on Muddy Blue. Although not entirely unexpected. Most of what broke as not surprised. Steering box (original) New Drop Pitman arm, Stripped splines, Front driveshaft Joints Dry. However what was not expected was bending all 4 wheels and needing limit straps to limit droop.
If anyone is interested this is as complete of a list that I could make for what I had to do to make 35s reliable on my ’99 Gunmetal Blue TJ. Steering Box, Steering box brace, second drop pitman arm and front driveshaft were all required AFTER the first shakedown run that finished them off. The first cheapo pitman arm stripped splines when the original steering box failed. In addition, Limiting straps had to be installed due to excessive rear droop.

That Cold Iron hill climb is a tough one. Always seems to be slick as hell.
This was my first time on it. I could never work it out to go with anyone before this ride.
So, did this little clip show where you actually bent the rims?
I can say that you did sound like you were having fun! That's all that counts!
Yeah one and/or all of these places finished off the steering box & bent the rims.

Yes, that is correct. Part of my problem may have been I was so used to 33s I may have hit the Mtn. Springs obstacle harder than I should have.

Yeah you can hear my wife saying how that was the hardest she had ridden on. She usually is outside taking pictures but there was nowhere for her to get out.
