Even though I'm somewhat unsettled by the barefootedness, I have decided to subscribe upon coming across this channel. A likeminded shitbox connoisseur with interesting projects, you (and most americans) seem to have a different style to old european cars, which I find refreshing. Greetings from Finland.
@@bakedbeansgarage116 The Datsuns sold well because they were cheap. Most people don't even know anymore how popular they were. I'd wager the 200 & 700 series Volvos have a much longer lasting impressions in the finnish minds. Datsun are all rotted away but the boxy Volvos are still a common sight in traffic. I see them every day.
New to the channel, the algorithm brought me here. I'm staying. The commentary alone, worth it. Also a mk2 guy and also glad to know I'm not the only one to do some sketchy shit bare-footed in the garage. Love it all, keep it up my dude. 🍻³
Another project complete! (For now..), it really looks nice, I really like how it looks. One of the frustrating things that Golf owners do in my country is swap base Mk2 wheels onto a Mk1 for some god-awful reason. It's so ugly.
I have a 86 mk Jetta gl, pretty much all intact besides the motor. Was working good until the Bosch fuel central injection system distributed thing has failed. Want to get rid of it .
0.8% Norway .. how many from France? I watch and some friends to... don't like VW but you still interesting and funny so.... ( the volvo parts for reliability 👌)

Thanks man! That's fun to hear because I have heard this car compared (rather accurately) to everyone's favorite Finnish shitbox, the Satsuma. Cheers!

"Keep the floor made of floor" couldn't have said it better myself. +1 sub
Can't wait to see the new garage. Great video!

What I liked about the westy dashes is the foam ob the ones I had never seemed to turn to concrete. Stayed squishy.
Dr beans back at it again with the consistent uploads! Joy restored on an otherwise dreary monday.
Only because I'm now technically unemployed lol, hopefully I can keep it up
i love your content bud👊 ...detailed narrating 👌,helps some of us who love learning more on volkswagens
found your channel recently and gotta say that your videos hit a niche in my brain so well that I cannot stop watching these :D

Thank you!
If I may speak from experience, That's probably just the only set that holds air.
That's one looong tailpipe, lol. Good job !
Nice progress on the golf ! :)
Love the quality! Amazing builds!
Another great vid and actually informative

Nice work.. I am building the same type of car with 1.8t 20v and 02M transmission race car.
Need a beans sticker for my vw breadvan!
Shirts are almost ready, stickers coming soon!
Mk2 windscreens aren't bonded here in the UK. Interesting, US ones must be structural. Great content btw 👍✌️
Yes, forgot to mention that. ¿I heard 16Vs had bonded windshields over there? Everything in north America was glued (my favorite)
@@bakedbeansgarage116 mine is a 1991 8v 1gZ chassis with rubber seal fitment. Should be the same for the 1gZ 16v??

Yeah, I don't get along with CIS either. My GTI was originally CIS, I swapped it to ABA engine management.
I thought the front windscreen was held in with a gasket.
They were all bonded here in North America. I forgot to mention that.
@@bakedbeansgarage116 that’s very interesting

It doesn't even show me France :/. That'll be fixed when I finally find a Citröen DS.
@@bakedbeansgarage116 good luck for that it's over price in france so i can't imagine in US, beautiful and very confy car but hydrolic is a nightmare
What's the speed tape you mentioned for the rear lights? Never heard of someone removing the reflectors to make it brighter
It's just aluminum foil tape. The original mirror surface tends to fade, I just slapped some shiny tape over it through the bulb holes.
