DO "FREEEDOM" FROM BRAVEHEART!
The heartbreaking twist at the end of City of Angels if anyone has reacted to that. I almost lost it when I saw it.
The fact that they could make us care about a non-sentient volleyball is good storytelling and directing because it’s actually ridiculous😂
I think it's not so much caring about a volleyball, but it's more about feeling Hanks' pain. He's already been through so much and when he's on the precipice of making it or not he has to suffer yet another loss.
Either way still amazing storytelling.
The acting and music also deserve credit
Robert Zemeckis. One of the greatest directors of all time.
Wilson is symbolic of our overwhelming fear of loneliness. Holding on to him at all cost rather than facing the world entirely alone and without hope.
I have lived for more than 8 years in isolation. It is a superpower.
@@solomoon3083 it’s difficult for most people to last on their own anywhere near that long by choice.
Not without my dogs.
@@solomoon3083some isolation it is when you're chatting on youtube
Wilson isn't just symbolic of the fear of loneliness. Wilson has always been representative of himself. In this particular scene, being unable to save Wilson is again symbolic; the realization that he can't save himself. Having failed, he looks back at Wilson and realizes he's actually watching himself drift away into the empty ocean, never to be found again. Profoundly sad. Luckily, fate had other plans.
It’s the “I’m sorry” that always gets me.
My daughter told me they were going to watch this in her high school film class. I never give spoilers, so I just said "You're gonna feel like crying over something you never thought you'd cry over." I came home from work the next day, and the first thing she said was "Wilson!".😂
💯.
If anyone can make you cry over a volleyball, it's Tom Hanks.
Best actor to ever do it, imo.
We watched this movie with our emotional 10 year old daughter. She got quite attached to Wilson and when they were leaving the island watching how dangerous it was for Tom Hanks, she said she didn’t care as long as Wilson was okay. Her mum and I looked at each other and stayed quiet. Five minutes later, she was on my lap in floods of tears. Poor Wilson.
it is better to have loved and lost............. than to have never loved a ball.
Oh well done! 👏👏
You're grounded! Go to your room.......🫵
@@joshsnethen2440😂😂😂😂😂
In my opinion, Hanks floating on the raft in the middle of the ocean crying his soul out of his body is the best shot of Hanks' career, which is REALLY saying something.
Wilson wasn't a just a bloody volleyball. He was something to keep Paul sane for 4 years because even in crippling loneliness just hearing the sound of your own voice can keep you sane. *Wilson went from an inanimate coping mechanism to a needed friend*
“It’s just a stupid volleyball,” I said with tears in my eyes.
When I was born, if someone said someday you'll cry your eyes out over the loss of someone's volleyball, I'd have said wait, what!? But here we are
One of the most heartwrenching moments of the emotional roller coaster of a movie this was.
Who remembers sitting in the movie theater sobbing over a volleyball 😢
🙋♀️
I do.
This is a perfect example of something that I found kind of silly when I was younger but hits a lot different now.
💯.
1st act: "Lol, dude is talking to a freaking volleyball"
3rd act: "WILSON! PLEASE NO! COME BACK! GO GET HIM! NOOOOOOOOOO
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭"
Tom Hanks, everybody: the actor that made us emotional over the loss of a frigging volleyball.
I remember watching this in the theater thinking to myself "I can't believe I'm getting emotional over an inanimate object" and also "hats off to Robert zamegas for making me care so much about a damn volleyball" 😂
Proof about how awesome a director Robert Zemeckis is. He managed to make the audience care about a volleyball.
This man deserved every academy award he won.
I'm not crying you're crying. Seriously though I've been in a dark place and this movie took me out, multiple times.
Its not silly to think of being emotionally attached to a ball. When i was a kid i had a fav tennis ball named/branded Vicky...as an introvert it was like the best buddy i had. One day i just lost it & was so depressed losing it even though the market nearby could get me lot more other Vicky tennis balls.
I subscribed to all these reactors for a few years now 😂its crazy how they all ended up on one channel 😂
How about doing the ending of Captain Phillips after he is rescued. The interaction between Tom Hanks and the Head Medic always tears me up. So real.
I mean...Wilson can legit keep floating just fine all on his own. One day, he'll wash ashore and really confuse a lot of beachgoers, I'm sure...
It’s so interesting to watch how non-Americans react to this.
lol “is this free Willy?” lol
Wilson wasn't a volleyball stuffed with straw, Wilson was the part of himself that he Had to let go of. An important part that got Him through all of the shit, but could not help Him get back to civilization.
Still breaks my heart.
The other options Him just putting Wilson on a shelf or in a box, or going through therapy to give him up?
Neither would have been good storytelling.
Succinct and powerful.
I have to watch this again!
It’s a movie that comes to mind!
It's amazing how many people cried over the loss of a volleyball.
Damn few actors could pull this scene off
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
It's mainly the music that does it.
Poor Wilson
Rum Ham. I am sorry Rum Ham!
5:20 I'm not a genius or anything but I'm just throwing this out there but I believe there's more than one whale in the world so that's probably not the same one it was probably a different one
the name of the movie is Cast Away...very different from Castaway
You should do a reaction compilation of the raft floatings besides the ship that rescued him
Cast away vs the Martian?
And here we are, watching people cry over a volleyball.
It's just unbelievable to see people cry about volleyball and none of them care about what happened in Gaza 😊
of course, you know Kelly was cheating on him with the dentist from the start, right? Watch it again and you will see it. Sorry!
I thought it was the TikTok chicken
It’s for the best he lost Wilson, he didn’t need it anymore once he got rescued and his rescuers would think he’d gone nuts (which he did and would need therapy by the bucket load)
Sod the rescuers Wilson mattered
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed this movie. I love Tom Hanks and survival stories. I just didn't understand the story between him and the freaking volleyball. Like this scene, here, is much too melodramatic for me. 😕
I feel sad for you
@@MarkStevens8899 I get emotional about the human condition, animals and corresponding stories. That was a volleyball.
Isnt his wife's name Wilson? I think she was Bulgarian Muslim (Torbeshi) but she changed religion to (Bulgarian) Orthodoxy and her name to Wilson, and then married him in Orthodox ceremony
they have two kids named Mikasa and Adidas.
Who gives a shit
@@JuandeFucaU Rita (Ibrahimoff) Wilson
Adidas (Adolf Adi Dassler) already has a brother, the founder of PUMA. And Adolf WASNT a Nazi, the other brother was.
Rita Wilson.
