The respect that they have for each other, and the genuine love, is why I love them so much - in addition to their talent, they are such good people! The best is yet to come -
Kevin is a Seventh-day Adventist. He keeps the Sabbath from sundown Friday night to sundown Saturday night. He offered to resign so the band could find a different beatboxer and give Friday night concerts, and the band voted to forego Friday night concerts so Kevin could keep the Sabbath and they could keep Kevin. Pentatonix understands about issues of conscience, and about loyalty. They act like a particularly good family, making sure that each member gets what he or she needs, and they're a better band as a result.
Yes ❤❤so well said. So many times they’ve covered a song , with word bitch in it and they change it to Mitch. 😀😀😀😀 Early in their career Kelly Clarkson asked them to open for her on tour. They were excited and she scheduled tour so no Friday nights for them. They love her and she them
First…thank you for your service. Or as I’ve been told…no man left behind. It was Kirstie beatboxing 😂😂😂 also the real dancer in the group is Scott, not so much then but OMG he has gotten amazing. You should see the dance he did at his wedding reception for his husband Mark. I am, what I like to call, an original Pentaholic. Watched from the beginning. The love and respect that they have for each other is so inspiring. Even back then at the beginning. They are truly a family. It’s beautiful how they embraced Matt into the family from the beginning of his journey with them. In response to your statement about how they have no idea how INSANELY talented not only Kevin but ALL of them are. But Kevin is truly a freak of nature. Love them all but have to say I’m a Mitch super fan and have been from the beginning even before I saw what he was actually capable of. He never really gets to show it on the show. Where he is now is 🤯 Thank you for your wonderful reactions.
As impressive as this group is from the start *NOBODY* knows the full extent of their gifts yet. Next up (#10) is tied for my 2nd place favorite (along with #7), it just depends on the mood I'm in at the time. So buckle-up cuz the ride starts getting pretty wild from here on out! Great reaction! Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!
And yet another reason to know at the time they not only were going to win but had staying power, i love watching babytonix and love how they sang this one. As always thank you for the video and commentary
This is a fun journey into ptx beginnings! It's so interesting to see how they have changed, and also how they have stayed the same. FYI Avi is releasing a new song this Friday 11/17 called Healing! I hope you check it out! Cheers!
I think you’re right about Kirstie being the only confident dancer in the group in those days, although Scott has stepped it up tremendously since then and Kevin can sure command the stage when he lets loose now. This was not one of my favorites either but of course it’s still excellent. Thanks for continuing with PTX, I always enjoy your reactions. Peace …
Kevin's celloboxing never came into _"The Sing-Off,"_ except for one mention in the intro to their first performance, where they talked about how they found him. You have to remember, _"The Sing-Off"_ was a strictly a cappella show; there was no call for Kevin to play the cello, or sax, or keyboard, though I seem to recall one song where he played his invisible flugelhorn. But we should never forget that long before Pentatonix was so much as a gleam in Scott's eye, Kevin performed at Carnegie hall, twice, once on cello and once on saxophone. Calling Kevin "talented" is such an understatement as to almost be insulting, but we have no better word to use. And, BTW, if you think Kirstie is "the" dancer in Pentatonix, one of these days you really need to watch "The Kevin Show/Kevin's Fifth." I'll try to remember to mention it again after you've made your way clear through _"The Sing-Off."_
In my opinion, at this point they were about even with the Dartmouth Airs (or Aires. IDK), or maybe a little ahead. You gotta remember, Dartmouth A’s were a beast…at 16 strong and very talented, they were the odds on favorite to win. But, PTX’s rendition of Let’s Get It On by Marvin Gaye put them over the top!!! Scott was a beast and Mitch’s performance in Episode 12 sealed the deal!!! They definitely did NOT win by default…they annihilated the competition, which was quite good! I was pulling for them from the beginning, but by the end, I was a full fledged PENTAHOLIC❤! My respect for them has continued to grow as performers and more importantly good people ever since!!!
I can't help wondering why they initially chose to do this song but it was only after they had spent some time on it that Kevin spoke up about his problem with the lyrics. Still, they accommodated him, which was good. Olusula and Kaplan - one of the best rhythm sections ever.
This song is so weak as a song that they had to gussy it up with all the flashing lights and choreography. The best part was the harmonies on “Break you dooowwwwnnn.” They needed Ben Bram’s assistance crafting those specific notes, and according to Ben, it was a rare instance of them needing help with their TSO arrangements. While this was being broadcast, I was on a large tv episode recap website’s forum. The TSO thread was very active at the time. Avi had developed a fanbase amongst the female posters-to quote one, “Hot young Jewish man with sexy hip rolls? Yes, more please!” Another gif’d the hip rolls and posted them to his social media page, and he said something about how red his face was. She offered to delete them, but he said to just leave them be since they were already out there.
The respect that they have for each other, and the genuine love, is why I love them so much - in addition to their talent, they are such good people! The best is yet to come -
#10 is next!!! Can't wait!

Great reaction. Thank you. I usually skip this performance but since you were reacting to it, I didn't.
Thanks! Appreciate that.
10 and 12 are amazing!!!
Kirstie was doing the siren.

I have to agree, not one of my favourites either. But the best is yet to come 😊
It wasn't a favorite of Mitch's either, as we found out in the Superfruit reacts to Sing Off performances video.

Just wait until he finds all their Christmas music 😂
Almost there, come on with 10!
🙂

They actually didn't like this performance. The best is yet to come.
I agree with you that it wasn’t my favorite performance, maybe because I really don’t know the song
Agree. Not one of my favorites, either. But still, what a performance!
