  • I was having trouble figuring out what to put in the hands of my standing Frida Kahlo fondant figure cake topper (as of July 31, 2017). I finally decided to place some fondant/gumpaste Calla Lilies in her hands. Since they were so small I knew I would likely not be able to use any cutters. I had a lot of fun making them and think I will also try the same or a similar method to make larger ones and see if that works as well as I had never made gumpaste/fondant Calla Lilies before.
You may dust the bottom edges and top tip in light green/green petal dust to give these tiny Calla Lilies a touch of realism to your cake topper or as cupcake toppers.
*******IMPORTANT NOTES*******: If one decides to make them as cupcake toppers or free standing cake toppers I recommend NOT using any wire and just creating the green stems with either gumpaste or fondant containing Tylose. Let the stems dry at least a day but two or three days is better - the green stems would have to be somewhat thick for support. Then follow the rest of the steps as in the video.
    Thank you for watching.
... and the Standing Frida Kahlo Fondant Figure Tutorials will follow soon as well.
Thanks again for watching and may you have lots of fun making these tiny Calla Lilies.
