      @@irmarivas7603 Thank you very much. I should have noticed the link earlier. Silly of me to have missed it. Thanks again.
      BTW the recipe and the instructions are very well explained in the blog.

    How do i make a bigger batch in math terms? How do i basically double the recipe?

    • @Thethingswellmake
      @Thethingswellmake  Рік тому

      Yes! Just make sure that you double everything. The easy way to do it is to go directly to the recipe on my blog: thethingswellmake.com/emulsified-body-butter/
      If you look at where it says "servings" in the recipe card, you can move the slider from 100g to 200g and it will double the recipe for you!

    The butter still soft after 24hrs?

      It is in my environment, but you can adjust the hardness to your liking depending on how much liquid oil you use.

    hi there how many drops of preservatives did you add could you please tell me

      It's very important to dose the preservative correctly, so it should be done by weight and not by drops. It will depend on the preservative you are using. In this case, it was 1% of my formula by weight.

    I’m having trouble with light grainyness maybe I should try the ice bath for fast cooling. Do you experience light grainyness?

    • @Thethingswellmake
      @Thethingswellmake  Рік тому

      Shea butter and mango butter can go grainy if they cool down too slowly. So, yes, an ice bath, or placing the mixture in the freezer throughout the cooling process, can definitely help prevent it.
      I don't make body butter much, to be honest, as I prefer lotions, but I didn't have any problems when using my freezer.

      @@Thethingswellmake I also don’t make butters, I make hydrous butters instead. I think I’m what’s happening is the temperature variations in the oil phase and water phase when I’m ready to pour. Sometimes they can be 10-25 degrees in difference. The water cools down quickly by the time I’m ready to pour.
      For my next test:
      I will make sure that both H2O and oils are at same temperature. I’ve also swapped to mango and Kokum butter and I will ice bath and pop in the freezer

      @@Vrie. I usually heat mine together these days. I take a pot of water and place small jars (one with the water phase and one with the oil phase) in the water-filled pot to heat them together. It works well for me. I hope you find a good method that gives you a smooth butter you like.
      (I didn't realize this was the emulsified body butter video when I first responded. I read it wrong and thought it was for the non- emulsified body butter. In any case, the answer is pretty much the same.)

    I think i saw your website first and now i found you here :) how do you know how much water to add?? I want to make my own formula in batches to sell but I don’t know how much water is needed :(

      It's really all about trial and error and knowing the general guidelines for whatever emulsifier you use. Emulsifiers will generally say in what percentage range to use them and they will also often give an idea of how much oil/water they recommend (in a range). If your supplier doesn't provide you with that information, you can sometimes find it online by looking up the particular emulsifier.

    Hi, I’ve been looking into making emulsified creams and this was very helpful. What preservatives do you recommend?

    • @Thethingswellmake
      @Thethingswellmake  2 роки тому +1

      I like the more natural preservatives. I wrote about some of the ones I use and have used in this post: thethingswellmake.com/beginners-guide-to-natural-preservatives/

      Actually, I live in Spain and we don't have Costco here. But, yes, you are right about them being recycled! I use the jars that come with organic goat milk greek yogurt. 🤣🤣
