I was very worried there for a minute Ian. Coz I’ve had nothing but success using Amanda’s Yorkshire pudding recipe and I spent years listening to the great Jamie Oliver who told me that just milk and flour made the best Yorkshires. Unfortunately I failed every time which I thought it was all me. But Amanda has turned me into the queen of the family as regards yorkies. I’m so looking forward to trying this out. Looks delicious and great wholesome food. Thanks so very much Ian. ❤ and thank goodness you remembered that 🥚 😂😂
Thanks Sharon 😊 it didn't rise as much as I'd like but I think that was down to where the potatoes where, it tasted fantastic though😊 mand makes great yorkies 😋 I couldn't have lived it down if I'd omitted the egg 😂
@ it looks absolutely delicious Ian and I’m definitely going to try it as we love our toad in the hole. The young fella won’t want the onions in though. Can’t please them all 😂😂
Top marks Ian, I’m not as big of a fan of onion as you so I might try some homemade mushroom gravy as an alternative. I can’t remember if I ever suggested this one for you to have a crack at, but instead of a Welsh Rarebit try a Yorkshire Rarebit instead. Start by making the cheese sauce by making a standard roux with flour and butter and cooking out the flour flavour and add your choice of beer or ale. Stir in enough cheese ( I suggest using Wensleydale or whatever you prefer grated or crumbled) make a fairly thick sauce and add a few splashes of Henderson’s relish or Worcestershire sauce and optionally some mustard set aside to keep molten and make two or three slices of thick toast. On each piece of toast lay either a thick slice of Yorkshire ham or a couple of thick cut pre-cooked back bacon rashers, pour the cheese sauce over the top of the meat and then decorate with some slices of tomato. Lay some lettuce leaves on your serving plate and set the rarebit in the centre add more sliced tomatoes and cucumber or lightly pickled onion slices to taste and dig in. Serve with any other salad vegetables and pickles as desired and add any sauces you like. That’s how I make it but feel free to change the recipe in any way you choose, I sometimes add the step of putting the cheesey topped toasts under a hot grill to blister it before adding the salad ingredients over and around the dish.
Ian that looked amazing, I often make toad in the hole and to be honest it is probably better that the sausages aren't so overfilled with the batter as they sometimes dont cook properly when the batter rises too much and they can be still a bit soggy which is not very nice to taste. Another great classic from our fav cooking duo thanks once again regards as ever Maggie
I want to know how I've never heard of this before!!! After having seen this, why would anyone ever go back to the boring version?? Everything on that plate made my mouth water. As for your yorkshire pudding not rising as much as you would have liked, that's exactly how I like it, it reminds me of yorkshire pudding you got at school. Thanks for sharing Ian ❣

I’ve never ever seen a toad in the hole made like that. It’s a one pot wonder. Is this how most people cook their toad in the hole in Yorkshire? MaryG
Hi Mary ☺️ I don't think it's the norm in Yorkshire, but I do vaguely remember having similar as a kid, many many years ago 😂
sacking offense ..... forgetting the egg🤣🤣🤣 very unuasul dish looks really good
Lol thanks Gabrielle 😂 it was delicious 😋
I thought he’d forgotten the egg but I was curious to know what would happen without it
Gorgeous Yorkshire Grub! You should never make Yorky puds in a glass dish it doesn’t get hot enough . Always use a metal tin . Looks lovely though xx
Hi Julie 😊 thanks so much 🙏 yes the recipe did say a metal tin but we don't have one 🙄 that's probably why it didn't rise much x
Sausages looked a bit overcooked but, otherwise, looked a nice dish.
Hi Carol 😊 thank you 😊 yes they caught a bit on top unfortunately 🙁
@@BeddyEatsFood Would have been ok for my OH as that is how he likes them.
Never heard of it despite being a Northerner but it looks great, will have to try it, thanks. Just a hint, don't waste your veg. water use it to make the gravy.
