Here's how to become OVERPOWERED in CK3

- CK3 Playing tall or playing tall in CK3 isn't the best possible strategy... DIPLOMACY IS! Today we use Bjorn Ironside who can form Scandinavia and Sweden. You can offer vassalage to any of your neighbours with this overpowered strategy you NEED to try! CK3 Vikings traditionally conquer and raid, but why waste time like that when you can just ask them to become your vassal?

The true chad was the High Chieftain of Estonia for ignoring the game rules and just capturing you. Actual CK3 AI Grindset!
Swigma
My name is chad😑
Getting Halfdan of Jorvik as your heir is actually insane, because hypothetically, it would allow you to VERY quickly form the North Sea Empire.
The problem was that it isn’t Halfdan of Jorvik but instead his son
@@JonathanDoe0 Eh, nothing a bit (or a lot) of murder can't fix.
@@kabobawsome he’ll be somewhere in the line of succession
82 year old Jarl Haesteinn randomly conquering the kingdom of Novgorod to let Laith know who the REAL most powerful character is was a highlight for me.
Here we see Laith doing what in scholarly circles is known as *"the koifish"*
This is phase 1 of Koifish. Phase 2 is playing as Vikings who conquer a place and hybridise cultures with it.
@@alexanderthegreat913 true, but I was just referring to the kingdom of sweden speedforming which has been his bread and butter since ck2 (^_^)'
I did not invent Sweden speedforming >:D But I'd like to think that I've mastered it C:
@@Koifish well, it seems I've attracted the *actual koifish,* what do I do now?! I didn't think I'd get that far... xD
Fancy seeing you here:)
@@KoifishYooo, it’s the funny Viking man himself.
Technically you don‘t even have to declare one war in Asatru Scandinavia. With gifts and befriending everyone can be vassalized.
The first war I declare as Björn is against Scotland so I can border Jorvik and Ivar to vassalize them.
Björn is OP af.
That sounds absolutely busted. And the perfect way to form the north sea empire.
Edit: I tried it and now I have Ireland, England, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Brittany, and Frisia under one ruler and I'm about to reform Asatru.
TLDR: Its very busted
Wait really? Now that’s whack
@@digitaljungle7154 and that’s your Björn experience. :DD
I didn’t even have to conquer anywhere, one of my vassals had taken a county in Ireland bordering Dublin vassalized Ivar and then Halfdan right after
And if you want sapmi and finland, you can just convert to ukonusko and vassalize them aswell, then convert back to asatru
Laith you should do achievement runs for some of the better ones in CK3, I just got 'Canute the greater' and 'faster than the fox' recently. Both were really fun campaigns
Let's make him do Lingua Franca so we can watch him actually going insane
Faster then the Fox is so fun
The Uppland start is pretty much my favourite in CK3 because of all the different things you can do and tbh I'd love to see you take the "Secure the High Kingdom of the North Sea" decision! Amazing videos, keep it up!
Your mistake was starting to ransom everyone for the prestige instead of executing the Catholics to get your dread up. Once you're at dread 100, very few factions rise up other than tiny peasant factions.
Execution dread doesn’t really add up like it used to. You can’t get to 100 dread just by executing anymore
at this point at least, but once you own 2 empires then people just rise up regardless of their opinion of you. you basically just need to build up in power constantly.
@@Donderu Executing randos doesn't, but executing vassals does, tyranny be damned. He inevitably captured some of his new Catholic vassals in that war, so it would have been best just to torture and execute as many as possible to maximize dread.
@@stoopidapples1596 Not really. Dread is a super effective way to keep vassals out of a faction. Only Brave people aren't at least frightened by 100 dread, and most are terrified, meaning most vassals can't even join one at that point. Beyond that, anyone with 25+ opinion of you has a chance to leave, depending on their personality and the exact faction, and anyone with 80+ opinion is guaranteed to leave any faction.
@@kabobawsome unfortunately while these are supposed to be the case, as I mentioned once you hold more than 2 empires the hidden modifiers that determine whether a vassal will rise up against you will outweigh the opinion and the dread modifiers, even though they aren't supposed to. the only way to keep vassals in check is to constantly be allying them. at that size the game becomes way less fun because you really can't do anything to stop your vassals rising up. i had a roman empire game where I owned most of the historical roman empire, and i had max dread, and max relations with most of my vassals, and yet they still rose up against me, even if they were terrified.
This kingdom will make a fine addition to my Imperial collection
I did this strat once. Didn't even think about it going in but it was awesome when i realized i could
Maybe the kingdoms were created due to succesion laws? Confederate partition does create titles if possible to the secondary heirs so that could be it, but iirc it doesn´t do that for the primary heir
It always creates equal rank titles if possible, even if you only have one heir.
Great video! suggestion for ck3 videos would be to put camera on top left so everyone can see war score while you're fighting!
Honestly, It'd be really interesting to see you go for the "King of all the Isles" achievement.
1:34 there is a mod that if you get captured and then defeat the army that captured you you get free, i think the name is like prisoners of war of smt like that
I recently started a campaign to form Austria with a diplomacy focused character but it's really hard because he keeps getting elected as emperor
Suffering from success
Instead of Diplomacy, try "diplomacy" (intrigue)
We’ve seen you play Upland but I think you should play Downland next.
Great vid as always, Koifish!
Exactly what I was thinking.
Damn I've gotten really handsome!
@@Koifish 😱🫵👩🍼
You might think Bjorn is the most powerful af Sigurd but I'd wager its actually Dyre.
Dyre can inherit from halfdan if you restore inheritance, so you can get about 3-5k event troops, essentially inheriting the great heathen army and all of jorvik. He's also a genius. Because he starts in Kiev, he's out of diplo range but you can instantly conquer gotland. He starts with 2k event troops and its half varangian veteran, so he can just delete any other army for the first ten years. You can take 3 alliances, Halfdan, Ivar the boneless, and Basceg. You can subjugate Bjorn Ironside (or sigurd) then declare a varangian Invasion. At this point you will have diplo range from Egypt to Iceland, and with your allys and event troops you can wipe out anyone, even Byzantium (wink wink).
You should try to be careful with halfdan. You can inherit a massive army but it doesn't reinforce, so if he trashes it you'll be left with useless empty regiments. They are just levies after all but they are very useful as diplo weight. If you never raise them you will always have enough troops to keep the dynasty head, and the ai will NEVER attack you. You can just sit on 1 province and have like 10k event troops and the AI thinks your the Abbasids.
You get 3-5k from halfdan. You start with 2k. When you do a Varangian Invasion you will get 3k-5k event troops. Diplo bank these troops never raise them just use Maa.
Now what I do is varangian invade on the Dutchy with the gold mine in the byzantine empire. Then you offer to become a vassal with religious protection. You can become hellenic for 1700 piety. Might as well hybrid the Greek culture, take Greek language and eastern empire legacy. Then use meritocracy to claim the byzantine empire. Once you are emporer you can take Alexandria and reform hellenism. Force all vassals to convert.
40 years into the game now your the Byzantine emporer with your own highly advanced hybrid culture, a reformed pagan religion, and your also have a starting point in jorvik and you can finish off all of England with relative ease. And bc your Hellenic you can form the roman empire.
Do try out my Boi Dyre before you go making ridiculous statements like "Bjorn Ironside is the strongest norse" or "Haestening is the best adventurer"
Jarl Dyre is intended to be the strongest start in the game. But none of his potential can be achieved without advanced strategies, so as an ai he just dissapears without ever accomplishing anything of note. However a skilled player can accomplish any achievement in the game with him.
(Just don't forget to click on yourself and select "legitimize bastard" before you unpause. When you become dynasty head you can "restore inheritance"... and the wife is hard-coded to be trash go on a pilgrimage divorce her asap and marry a genius)
How to legitimise myself as jarl dyre? He is bastard founder?
This gotta be the wildest strategy guide ive ever read
@@prodbasedmystik when I found this "Easter egg" character I was absolutely shocked. He's the only genius, he has the best event troops in the game right at the start, then they reworked all the dynasty stuff with royal Court, so you can stay in the af Sigurd dynasty and rack in huge amounts of dynasty mana because you have 5 independent dukes. If you can keep most of them in power you can catch up with the Karlings by 920~
Don't even need kingdom of man and the isles... but If you kill halfdan before he makes the Danelaw and before you become a vassal, you COULD inherit jorvik and conquer the isle of man if you have enough fame at that point. Create that and your up over 15k event troops.
@@xicor7223 No they changed it. He becomes a Bastard founded when he has a kid. So before you start just click on yourself select legitimize bastard.
There's even more too it, little goals along the way. Like since you become a vassal of the byzantine empire you might as well piss off the Catholics so go conquer Rome, sacrifice the pope if you can, this immediately gives them crusades. Then you become a vassal of a Christian emporer so they can't holy war you or take back Rome. Use Cagliari as a base of operations. You can end up with Rome and Constantinople and 2 gold mines and 3 hellenic holy sites for grand temples all in your demense.
Adjust to let you know if you're leaving your army either in a raid or War which is more likely to happen during wartime that your character can be captured because they're technically fighting on the battlefield which they can be taken captive and it's one of the risks of having your character lead the army upon also being injured if not killed
If you do the Kingdom of Mann, you should also go for the High Kingdom of the North Sea, essentially making a Norse-Roman kind of campaign :)
Damn you can still make Bjorn Ironside CK3 videos in 2022
Please play again. Would love to see a come back and then conquest of isles nations, southern France and Germany.
I did the exact same a Month ago after a koifish video and built the Scandinavian empire
the spead up warhorn is hilarious
While expanding through vassals is great, it means that when your character dies, everyone rebels
Is it not possible to make them like your heir as well?
@@kaltaron1284 Taking Scandinavian elective as law is a good way to make them like your heir because they get to choose him to rule (that's only if he wins the election though obviously). There's also a perk tree in the stewardship line that's basically about making your vassals like you more, is very handy once you become an empire imo.
@@dragonsblaze7961 Thank you.
I think Jarl Haestings of Montague has to be in the running for Most OP start, with the amount of household guards he gets for being a 1 county minor is pretty OP
I want a part 2
diplomacy is nice
Björn💪🔥
Laith shines in speed x10
If your game isn't Ironman I'd love to see you pay as that French peasant leader and see how far you can get.
Should rule as King Arnaud uniting Northern France and try taking Aquitaine as well forming a new Realm. “French Scandinavia”
Yes
0:24 actually you can easily just vassalize the guy north of you
When you inherit the lands the titles are automatically created.
lol this is what I did on my first playthrough except that I managed to fight the uprisings and continue to conquer countries and empires. I also ended up beating up the pope and kick him out of his home after reforming the asatru.
WAS THAT JARL HAESTEINN IN NOVGOROD?!
Damn I’m here early
Typical CK3. Be doing well in every other regard, and the game just decides you don't get to have an heir, thus causing the entire run to collapse on itself
ya uh as a new player i am so fucking lost, i wanted to do a bjorn playthru but found it impossible to keep track of what you were doing lmfao
try to make the empire of tibet
King of Isle of Man but in 1066
I love how the game devs actualy made it say "(nice)" when ever you have 69 in any stat lol
haha the ultimate "learn ck3" start!!!!!! i probably blew 300 hours or so just on uppland
at the beginning ;)
Everyone know Hasteinn is op, Watch Koifish
Heja Sverige! 🇸🇪
Pls play ottoman algeria in eu4
Day 3
I find Britain to be the most OP start, at least on the first start date. If you start as one of the Norse kings you can easily secure the empire of Britannia and then invade all of France. You can easily do that in 2 generations if the pope doesn't come for you.
Stockholm, when ???
You wanna see real game breaking? Lothair II forming HRE using intrigue murders only
Wait, this ain't a Galicia-Volhynia conquest
I have tried many times to play this game but im so confused what should i do in this game?
Did you play the tutorial?
Conquer then die then conquer then die
Play albania into greece/byzantuim (orthodox)
Day 21 of asking Laith to play Imperator: Rome with the Invictus mod.
when is ulm special
Hey this looks like koifish strats 🤣
похож на Ивана Золо
Sjaelland is pronounced more like shellan than sharland
i hate how he distributes land one county to one person instead of making an ai with many counties who then like him...
You should have reformed the religion
did they patch this strat? i cant enforce divorce the daughter
no
Day 26th of asking you to play Georgia
And this video proves why you shouldnt vassalise your way to empire, it brings unstability and disorder to the realm upon sucession. You should vassalise as little as possible while conquering most of the land and giving it to hand picked skilled loyalists
Yeah this goes too fast for a text based game.
Playing a viking? Are you koifish?
Vikings? Cringe, I'll play tall as Mali and conquer the world by taking all their money.
No views? 🥺
No bitches 😞
Buh
Me when this is not the top comment: 😔
Everytime I hear an english speaker pronounce "Skåne" as "skain" it makes my brain vomit. Either pronounce the fucking e at the end, or use the english translation "Scania". Please.
