Danyal A. AX is coming this year in the enterprise space but devices still won’t be ready for a few years on a large scale.

    • @akasaa

AX will be backwards compatible with AC but the actual wireless chipsets for laptops etc wont be around most likely till 2019. Highend devices like Dell XPS will most likely have them as soon as they are released but the mainstream sub 1k laptops most likely wont till 2020 due to cost.

idk if you have ever owned a gaming router or a highspeed netgear router but all that design that has vents is there for cooling purposes. they do have their own prcessors and such that needs to have space and airflow to cool especially one that works as hard as that one does. btw unhook those antennas and see how far you go before losing wifi connection then connect them and see how much further you get. i can be like 50 meters away through 4 building walls outside of my apartment in my car and still get signal lol

To simplify most of what he is explaining because he draws out everything he says. Gaming routers are ideal for personal use. You use it in your own home with family router working will cause odd internet accessibility issues. Essentially you make this as your main router it will ALWAYS out preform the stock router yiu get from yiur internet provider. You also will have to contact your internet provider to see if it supports your aftermarket router. (Some internet providers will see an unregistered device/ip/router connected to your internet and will potentially slow down your internet speed for not using their products) once you have established your device on your internet the gaming router allows for QoS (Quality of Service) essentially what a stock router is an example is mario pipes. The internet comes from outside as one big pipe and splits into equal seperate pipes for every new device put on so one router with 2 devices connected get a 50/50 connection. The more you add devices the lower those numbers become. A gaming router allows for QoS Priority which means it allows for you to add all your devices but allows you to set up the priority each gets. Meaning you have a Streaming PC, Xbox one and PS4 and 1 phone you can set priorities for each of the devices so the mario pipe doesnt divide equally anymore it divides by priority so if all are on and using internet whatever device is set at highest priority will receive the biggest piping (largest bandwith router allows by your settings) so you can set your devices as such Streaming PC (1), Xbox 1( 2 ), PS4 (3), Phone (4). Meaning when in use your streaming PC will gain the highest bandwith even if other devices were connected first. You can also go even further in depth and change priority for specific internet usage. So streaming, downloading media, uploading media and gaming. All require different ammounts of bandwith so you can also set those to different priorities so you get best service for whatever you do. If you mainly game and stream movies almost as much you set gaming as priority 1 and streaming as 2 that way you dont get bloat buffer. It is ideal for those who want the best out of a router with an after market router and dont want to go through the hassle of messing with the stock router. Many other features come with these devices and i am willing to answer any questions someone may have about this.

Absolutely great tutorial! I love my xr500 and once it is setup correctly, managing you network is a breeze! I actually ordered the XR450, which seems to be the same as the XR500 minus 200mbs max 2.4 speed (which 600 is far more than my connection can reach) and $100+ (less). I too was also hoping for mounting holes.

Just set game ports or "service port" to highest priority and set port 80 and port 443 to lowest your router will do the rest.
If you are using bandwidth percentages use 67% for highest and 33% for normal. I would avoid settings for "medium" priority I think this just makes your router not sure of what it's doing. Hope this helps please give me a like if it does.

That option where it refuses you to connect to another location is a bit dumb since most games offer you an location to where it wants to connect to. So you can chose like just America servers if you stay there, so that feature is a bit stupid.

Routers with external antennas have much better signal range and if you need to boost the signal up you could replace the antennas with high gain antennas for even better range

It’s the same router as the D7800 which has better Ariels than the 500. The tech is 5 years old and sadly Duma is a tad buggy and not a single fix in a year. Let’s hope milestone 3.0 does not follow this.

Well no, they do connect you to mostly people in your region, but sometimes it connects you with people from all over the world. This router refuses that to happen at all

The router physically disables any host outside of the radius that is set, regardless of any Geo-location code that the game would be running to connect to local servers. The router can do this because it is physically talking to the authentication server that provides the data connection. The reason that this can happen is because each location gets certain IP addresses that are for that location and the router will know this from a database of IP's.

    • @williammccoll5563
      @williammccoll5563 6 років тому +14

He didnt stretch the truth, I looked this up and it does what he said it does, it tries to connect you to which ever anywhere in the world. It looks at best connection, sometimes that can be hundreds of miles away, it depends on the internet provider and what they limit the bandwidth allowed so a connection 100 yards away could be a bad connection where one 20000km away could be faster. Most travel at the speed of light now so it doesnt matter where your location is.

Very useful video. I’m getting (FTTH) fibre soon and a fibre router will be provided by the Telco.
Is there a ‘Gaming’ router with similar features that could replace the Telco equipment and connect to the fibre line directly?
Surely, to maximise speeds, reducing unnecessary hardware is beneficial -I’ve had ‘Double NAT’ problems in the past in similar setups despite using bridge mode?

Use a PC with pfsense and Intel lan cards as your router. Mikrotik Switch. Run wires to your devices unless you like pain. For wifi, something ac1750+ that runs ddwrt.

If so then I understand, as Americans don't pronounce and spell words properly.
You speak English language, but make up your own spellings and pronunciations of words.
Router is spelt the same in both instances, but has two meanings that are pronounced differently. Rowter : in sounding is a tool used in woodwork. Rooter: in sounding is a what people use for internet connection. BOTH are spelt the same, but sounding different. Look it up in the english dictionary.
