You can only disable wifi in the OS, as John said the OS acts buggy so you have to reboot for the R2 to change your setting on wifi. I have had to run the R2 with basic or no changes to keep it stable after a hard reset. I hope they will come out with an update soon that will address these bugs and stability. As of now the only pro about the R2 is that it is the cheapest way to get a GEO filter for the shooter games.

TLDR: It lets you block servers so that in theory you will only join servers near you. Doesn't lower your ping and (obviously) doesn't get rid of lag. Simply a clickbait video.
I’ve had one since release. The only option you need is the QoS. Limit your gaming devices bandwidth to 1 up 1 down, best lab compensation, that’s all you need. Geofilter is good but it’s limited to what servers the game offers. If the servers are trash or you live really far away, it will do nothing for you and you can limit your bandwidth with programs which don’t come with a 150$ price tag.

If you want a great online gaming exper ience but don't need the geofilter look into the ubiquiti brand of routers. They are not marketed as gaming routers and therefore don't have the huge price markup but perform exceptionally well at reducing ping spikes. Their QOS is excellent.
Another great upload , you now have put doubt in my mind as I have just ordered a netgear rx 700 at a whopping 500 quid What are your thoughts on the rx 700 ?
XR700 has really good wifi and is extremely capable features and hardware wise. Its overkill for what most people need. If you need insane wifi range/speed it might be a good investment. But for the gaming features its just as good as any of the other XR routers

There was never 2.0, it was 1.3. As you know there’s been no bug fixes on 1.3. As AX or WiFi 6 is the new standard that would be the move if you went with either Asus or Netgear.
Hi John, 1st of all many thanks for your very techy informative vids. These are great stuff!!! I've been watching your vids ont routers and have few question if you don't mind giving me a few pieces of advice. I currently own the Asus AC5300 and sometimes i play some fps (mainly Bf) on console. So my need is to prioritize this usage first with the QoS the give a low priority to all other devices of the house. I managed to set the QoS (tried Adaptative QoS and Traditionnal QoS), but all seem to be broken or at least very buggy. The device set on high priority downloads at roughly 150Mb out of the 1Gb that we have total. Do you know this AC5300 and have you used at any time? Or Maybe you could advise some router to buy, knowing that i do not want to lose the 1Gb that i have and want QoS by device (not by service or other). Please do not hesitate to go deep in details as i work as IT Admin. Many thanks in advance. Regards
If you have a 1 gig up and down QoS will not be needed as you will be pushed to saturate that connection. As we move towards greater throughput QoS is not needed unless you have a huge household but even then it’s going to take a bit to saturate that connection.
Always enjoy your informative videos, love you dude😁
