Cracking video…… stunning scenery and sounds of the birds and the sea 😊….. wow 😯 that’s some size of rock falling down from the cliff ….. scary with the Jurassic coast land slide surely mega fossils to be uncovered when they let you go near it …… you always have stunning finds .. love this channel … I’ve learned so much about Fossils and I love looking for them … I’ve been under forth bridge (south Queensferry,Scotland) as we have shale but is protected as Carboniferous period fossils to be found 🙌😊 …. I’ve found what think 🤔 is fish fin markings on the rock … defo know your stuff …. ❤️ it !! 😊😊 absolutely stunning specimen of the fish …. Your dad has prepared it beautifully 🤩🤩 most definitely a dream find 😉
Thanks, and yep there are! Although I don’t think those ones are wild 🤔 I have a few clips of them much further up too for another video perhaps 🏝 hope you enjoy all of the finds 😉
Where you guys live is absolutely gorgeous, and having access to beautiful beaches where you can hunt for fossils is amazing. I live in the states in the suburbs and while it's better than the city I would love to live somewhere like that!
Have been enjoying your Fossiling videos today. I live on the Yorkshire coast, & enjoy a bit of fossiling too, when I can..such a delight to see your Crocodile & fish!..look forward to some more of your fabulous finds..
LOVELY! Your journey down to the beach ,waterfall and scenery are all part of your fascinating day .Those tiny ammonites ,so amazing! I guess anyone watching who could not access the beach ,would really appreciate the whole day’s journey? Keep those scenery shot in !!🤗
Thanks so much for the detailed look at the fish. You’re artists as well as experienced fossil hunters. Amazing video. Hope you get plenty of positive feedback to encourage you to do more like this. Beautiful scenery thanks. And that boulder was immensely scary in contrast with the pretty trees and birds singing on the path. Thanks guys.
Always good to see beautiful Yorkshire, my Fathered parents were from Rotherham and I was married to a man from Leeds . As much as we could we would go for wonderful walks.... Glorious God's Country my husband was proud to say 😊
I think the small amonites in matrix were stunning!!! I am new to your channel, bingeing at the moment, will definately be going back to see the original fish finding video, that is stunning, complete or not it is just beautiful
Thank you, we really appreciate all of your kind comments. Unfortunately we never got a video of actually finding the fish, they are really rare but if we find another we will hopefully be able to record it
Best Chanel on UA-cam Its actually interesting I look forward to watching can’t say that about anything on tv anymore , camera work is spot on my friend 👍
You live and work in some truly gorgeous areas. Thank you for sharing all of the scenery, especially the flowering trees and that waterfall with the plunge pool. Great instincts on filming that table of shale that the ocean kept washing over, too; I probably could have been mesmerized by it for another minute or two, but your humorous ending of the segment by getting your camera splashed was perfect. (Couldn't quite get a count on the cows standing versus laying for a weather report, but it looks like it was a fine day anyway.) Wow! That nodule with the ammonite mortuary layer is amazing! Could you tell if they were different life slices of the same type of ammonite, or a whole collection of different species? Will you be preserving that set? Definitely an intriguing icthyosaur vertebra. Does preparation of a specimen so full of metallic deposits differ from one that is in a shale or sand matrix? Truly a beautiful fish. The lustre of the scales makes it almost pattable, though you probably don't want people touching it. X) Definitely some very delicate tool-work went into that preparation. No wonder it's a family favorite fossil. You mentioned in the video comment that you were open to video requests... this is a little off-the-wall compared to your usual subjects, but I noticed you have a bird feeder in your garden. Is there any chance of a few shots of your feeder visitors in a later video? British and American garden birds are so different (for instance, our robins are big, slow-moving, and a little dumb, where your robins are titchy, swift, and very clever) that it would be nice to see some again.
Thank you, it’s a lovely area isn’t it, I’m glad you enjoyed the scenery from this video. I really liked the table of shale as well and the way that the water splashed over it! 😍 The ammonites are all the same species as far as I can see, and we’ll preserve it. The vertebra will be much more difficult to prepare than normal, and is likely to be unable to be prepared sadly, depending on the pyrite. I could certainly look into including some bird/wildlife clips, that’s a good idea thank you 🙏
@@YorkshireFossils Thank you for answering my questions about the ammonites and prep on the icthyosaur bones! It would be a little sad if the bones can't be prepared, since the interaction with the ribs on the back piques curiosity, but it's still an interesting specimen if left as-is! And yay! Thanks for considering some shots of birds and other wildlife! You're the nicest. 😀
The Yorkshire region is beautiful in all seasons and showing your journey to the beach just adds to the ambiance. Well done! And now the main event Nessie fossiriferous:) That armored fish is amazing, is it Devonian? Oh I heard you say Jurassic, sorry:( It reminds me of that Japanese Anime "Ponyo on the Cliff". Great video , don't stp making ones like this. Cheers, Rik Spector
Wow your videos are so well put together! You do an excellent job at taking us right along on your journey..... And those fish scales....WOW!! I live in America and so it is a special treat for me to be able to see your side of the world and all its wonders! ❣️
That ammonite multi block was amazing. The scenery shots are really good especially with the bird song. I also liked the shot you got of the waves coming over that shale slab
Amazing, the scales on that fish remind me of a cobbled street where I lived as a young lad in Rochdale in the 50s. Just a question: Why does the shale around those amenities form a ball shape?
Very nice scenery, except that big rock, can’t say that having rocks this size bouncing around is much fun, I imagine it would keep you fit. The two ammonites that Shae opened were really nice, Shae is quite the expert at opening them up. Now stay healthy and COVID free, Cheers from down under.
Incredible! Thank you so much for sharing the beauty of the countryside where you live. Can you just anyone go to the beaches that you go to, and pick up fossils if we are smart enough to find them?
Very enjoyable, high quality video. We’ve got very similar rocky beaches here in Southern California, but unfortunately the sandstone cliffs don’t produce anything worthwhile. I grew up in Illinois and amassed a huge collection of Mazon Creek fossils which are also found in nodules and contain plants and animals from the Carboniferous. The preservation and details are likewise fantastic.
I absolutely love ❤️ you guys show. Please don't stop posting new ones. I learned so much from your narrative; the work Sheir does (hope I spelled the name correctly, if not please correct me); and the incredible work your dad does with his fossil prepping and repairs. Thanks so much!

The scenery shots are beautiful. I have a request: If you can, when you open a nodule with multiple ammonites inside, please tell us what happened to leave them that way.
Would be fun to see a q&a type video from you! Some questions to get you started: When/how did you and your brother start fossil hunting? Do you two study paleontology? What are each of your favorite specimens? :-)
As the gray rocks appear to be the fossil bearing material, have ever tried bashing ten, chosen randomly, rocks with nothing visible to determine what percentage had fossils inside?
That first rock you broke open filled with ammonites looks like a lil grave of ammonites.WOW that fish fossil never seen anything like it.it needs to.be in a museum.suprised you haven't had professionals wanting to buy it from you
Loved the walk through the scenery & waterfalls. The rock crammed with ammonites was really cool. 😎 The vertebrae was a nice piece & the fish fossil is incredible! 😯 Great finds! 👍❤️
Kalok in Indonesia, the island of Java, Conch shell, a dead end like that can make media a means of going like that, but there must be rituals through smart people
Mate I know you've probably got no idea. But im from the netherlands and I'm sure I can find some fossils like this as wel. Could you give me some tips what to look for? Or should I just bash every round rock with a chisel? 😂
Thumbs up for the scenery clips. And I really like hearing those crunching footsteps on the gravel footpath. Nice! 👍
Thank you, I’ll include some in future videos 🏝

The fish is insane!!!!!!!🤟🤟🤟🤟 must be a very rare find , liking the scenery shots
Isn’t it just!! They are one of the rarest types of fossils by far! At least round here they are
Yes please make more videos like this it's like a walk through a nature preserve❤❤❤😂😅😊
The scenery sequences definitely add to the atmosphere of the video, they set the scene so my vote is to keep including them!
Thank you that’s great to hear! I’ll include some more 🙏

I love the scenery shots, especially the closer ones where we can see the plants that grow wild there.

Where abouts in Yorkshire are you? My little boy would LOVE to try fossil hunting but we just don’t know where to go! We are in East Riding xx
It’s near whitby, I’d recommend trying Saltwick Bay first or perhaps a Fossil tour :)

Hey, me again , did you walk past a vertebrae or maybe a bone in a rock at 8:56. ? Go check it and see what you think.
Ahh I know what you mean, it was just an unusual shape of a nodule though :)

Which fish is this ??? Its instinct??
Its instinct was not to become extinct, but its lifespan was succinct
It’s usually referred to as a Lepidotes, although the name has changed in the past few years!
Or at least, that’s what I’m told
