I moved to DC almost two years ago and I must say from my experience I LOVE the variety of everything in DC such as Food, Culture, Events, SChools, Salons, Music and even Religion; however, the people that I’ve met that are born and raised from DC especially the men that try to date me are NOT my cup of tea.. the people here are rude, inconsiderate in traffic, loud and they don’t try to get to close to you. They aren’t friendly, barely speak but I like it bc I don’t have to worry about being in an encounter with the wrong type of ppl. Yes it is a good settle down place BUT a lot of minorities are being pushed out towards Maryland and Virginia. I’m looking for a home now in a decent area. I actually want to purchase a home here in a nice area to get the full DC experience. Right now I’m in a questionable area and trying to move asap. As far as settling down and permanently living in a place I can see myself moving and living in a warmer climate like Florida . My mom lived in Tampa for live 27 years. I’m concerned about Florida being a Republican state. My mom says she experienced prejudice and racism living in Tampa. Idk .. it’s a toss up. In DC everyone is more concerned with status and class and will deal with you accordingly to what they think you can offer them. I have met some friendly foreigners at work but I’m not sure if I will choose to have a social circle outside of church
It’s always great hearing people’s perspectives about cities. Thanks for sharing your experience. I do remember a lot of people lived on the outskirts of the city & commuted for work, when I lived there. I have to visit Tampa at some point. Hope you find a nice home ❤️
I am 28 & from the dmv area. Montgomery county, an outside suburb about a 30 min drive from DC. I go to dc very often. I have lived here my whole life. I am moving into my place in Miami in 2 weeks! 🎉 I’m so excited. Thank you for sharing!
As someone that’s from Florida and has lived in North Miama (Lauderhill and Weat Palm), I regret moving to DC just about every day. The culture and social interactions are different. People can definitely be cold and unfriendly.
I don’t, but it could be because of the areas I frequent. Though there have been at least 2x at the grocery store where the person I went up to only spoke Spanish, but there were other people around that spoke English & There are times where you may have Uber drivers that only speak Spanish, but you can use google translate.

DC is Americanized in American culture. Miami is not Americanized in American culture. Miami has it’s own culture and identity.
Def seems like Miami has its own type of culture
What is good my friend? Good Stuff!
Hey there! Hope all is well & thanks for watching!
@@FunmiLayo all is well, it was my pleasure!
Have you tried Pollo Tropical? It’s a knock off version of Nando 😂
No, I haven’t. I’ll add it to my list of places to check out!
Nandos is South African cuisine. Pollo Tropical is Caribbean cuisine smart one! Two different types of cultured food. You’re a clown! Lol.
Hows DC dating scene Miami sucks?
I’m naija too. How’s dating in Miami?
Miami dating is hard for black women. The quality of men are limited
I have a question do you have problems with the language barrier . I heard if you don’t speak Spanish it’s hard to thrive there.
I don’t, but it could be because of the areas I frequent. Give 2years and you will be tired of Miami, also all that flashyness in my is facade.
Thanks for watching, 2 year update coming soon!
DC is more expensive than Miami forsure
I don’t agree, but def lmk. What’s more expensive in DC than Miami?
Not at all. Miami is wildly overpriced. Certain things are about the same; but Miami is definitely higher. It’s gorgeous, though
Miami more expensive
