    Cersei is so blinded by her frustrated lust for power that she was unable to understand that Ned was right; he made no mistake on that iconic day.

    • @MrJonakc
      @MrJonakc 7 років тому +64

      yes that is why Ned is alive and Cersei is dead... Ned decided he wanted to play the game- Cersei told him he will lose- and he did

    • @mangafan589
      @mangafan589 7 років тому +66

      MrJonakc meanwhile most of Ned's children are alive and happy together and all of Cersei's family are either dead or have abandoned her.

    • @DreamOfTheRebel
      @DreamOfTheRebel 7 років тому +49

      It depends on what you consider "winning". Ned's legacy is... mostly alive (Catelyn, Robb and Rickon dead, Jon also dead but also alive because magic) but he died early. Cersei's legacy is dead, but even for a moment she was the most powerful person in Westeros with all her enemies dead.
      Also, the remaining Starks have understood that Ned's way of thinking was stupid, so I'd not say he "won" or that he can take credit for the Stark kids surviving.

    • @Killinemkid
      @Killinemkid 7 років тому +48

      The1FastGP Ned is dead, Robb is dead, the North was stolen, Catelyn, Tulisa, Ned's grandchild, Rickon, Hodor, dead! Theon is dickless. Bran and Arya are batshit crazy. Yes, Cersei's kids are all dead and she is all alone, but her ideology is not what failed her, she simply had no allies. Myrcella died because of Ellaria hating the Mountain and the Lannister's for Tywin's actions. Joffrey died because of his actions. Tommen is the only one of her children that it could be argued that Cersei hurt, and he was an idiot. Margaery wanted her crown-dead. The Sparrow wanted her kingdom-dead. Kevan wanted her authority-dead. Olenna wanted revenge-dead. Ellaria hurt her-imprisoned. Septa Unella hurt her-tortured. Cersei is on the Iron Throne due to her politcal genius. Everything in the world from her name to her gender to wars that occured beyond her control and powers that be outside of her influence has tried to stop her but she reigns. Now, she will inevitably fail, but that is because of a girl with Dragons and a boy who came back from the dead marching an army of conquerors and dickless men in conjunction with half of her kingdom against her. Cersei gets points even for losing.

    • @MrJonakc
      @MrJonakc 7 років тому +18

      don't forget if it were not for the dragons, Dany would have lost by now even though she had more men...

    Can't believe she doesn't have an Emmy! I know Maggie Smith is good in Downton Abbey, but I don't think in all seasons. Lena Headey deserves that Emmy especially for Season 6 of GoT!

  • @bcpr9812
    @bcpr9812 7 років тому +162

    Lena Headey is acting *perfection*. TV/Film writers and directors are going to have to step up their game, to produce the quality material worthy of her acting talents. Especially if she's ever going to have a character to rival or even top that of Cersei, during the remainder of her career.

    • @danielblair9535
      @danielblair9535 6 років тому +2

      Aye, nearly if not all the actors in Game Of Thrones, were phenomenal but however a few definitely stick out:
      Lena, Emilia, Peter, Maisie, Kit and others

    • @jaguarking2892
      @jaguarking2892 5 років тому +1

      @Alaina Howard no, it doesn't. They just don't have the same experience as older actors like Lena, Peter, Dance etc.

    • @jaguarking2892
      @jaguarking2892 5 років тому +1

      @Alaina Howard are you kidding me? Maisie's acting SUCKS in latest season.
      I never understood so much hype around Lyanna. There's no acting quality there. Her character is too one dimensional and she overacts a lot. Sorry, I just can't take her seriously.
      Now a few a words about Emilia. Her acting was very consistent from season 1 till season 4 (except for season 2 maybe). Then everything went down because of bad writing issues but yet again she was never bad. Even Peter Dinklage's become monotone since season 5.
      I can't say the same thing about Kit as I understand why everyone claims that his acting skills are mediocre. He just plays such a character. Show's Jon differs from book's Jon in so many ways. So I can understand why his character lacks emotions some times, but he's quite believable on the screen.

      @bcpr9812 7 років тому +29

      LIKE her?? I've felt sympathy for her at some times, but she gets less and less sympathetic as the series progresses, and she clings to rule for the sake of the Lannister legacy ALONE... she openly shows utter contempt and disregard for all of the smallfolk, and most nobles, too. She's incredibly selfish. As for that other stuff, lots of that shit happens to OTHER nobles, because they live in a harsh world. They lose children to stillbirth and childhood illnesses and long winters, mothers in childbirth, they're married off for political alliances rather than love, they lose other family members because they go off to war or that family member has wronged another noble with the power to challenge them... yet a lot of them manage to not turn out like the world-ruining ubercunt that is Cersei Lannister. Her response to it is to dig in deeper and paint a larger target on her back. She wouldn't even have lost her father if she and her father hadn't treated Tyrion so horribly for being a dwarf and for causing his mother's death in childbirth, as if that is somehow HIS fault.

    Lena Headey deserves all the awards. I've been saying this for years, but now we're at the end. She made us love, or at least care about, a character with no redeeming qualities. Cercei's complexities would not have worked without Lena's brilliant acting. She could be volatile, over the top, frothing mad, to screaming internally, to vulnerable, to icy, to seductive and everything in between. Truly one of the best performances on television ever.

    L. Heady is a great actress. Any actor/actress who plays an archetypal villain and convinces me to hate their (the character's) guts, is well played.
    Unless the villain was written in a way that is not "stereotypically evil" (but in a way Cercei *IS* stereotypically evil), and is the villain by circumstance is also a good villain, in my opinion.

    I think some of her actions are not heartless. Like the poisoning of the daughter, letting the mountain torture to death and wishing on Tyrion that he'll also lose someone he loves are quite understandable. Won't judge her on that...

    • @DreamOfTheRebel
      @DreamOfTheRebel 7 років тому +21

      Yeah, especially the Tyrion bit was not heartless, considering he basically sent her daughter off to her death... Also I'd add Littlefinger's scene because he openly accused her of incest and she had to show him she had the upper hand.

    • @bcpr9812
      @bcpr9812 7 років тому +17

      Okay, but Tyrion didn't know that he was sending her to her death. It wasn't considered sending her to her death, at the time. The Martells didn't particularly LIKE the Lannisters, but they had no reason to hate Myrcella. If anything, Myrcella's marriage to Trystane could have strengthened relations between the two houses. The Sand Snakes had no inclination to kill Myrcella until Oberyn was killed, even if Oberyn's actions in combat are what led to him ultimately losing. Myrcella's death was prompted by the death of Oberyn, which could have been avoided. Seeing that Oberyn was to be Tyrion's champion, and actually expecting that the Mountain would kill him, all while Cersei and Tywin KNEW that Myrcella was vulnerable in Dorne... it was incredibly stupid of her and her father to allow the trial to continue at that time. Especially when Tywin knew Tyrion was innocent, yet threw him under the bus, anyway. They could have stopped the trial, released Tyrion, and Cersei could have easily found someone to assassinate her brother discretely, if she was still convinced that he was at fault for Joffrey's death.
      I won't judge her on what she did to torture Septa Unella or the High Sparrow of the Faith Militant (although other people in the Sept of Baelor... that's another story), though, and I won't judge her for what she did to torment Ellaria and Tyene, as revenge for Myrcella. On those accounts, she's justified.

      I think Tywin and Cersei believed that Doran would be reasonable enough to NOT want revenge for someone who willingly took part in trial by combat, and he was, but they couldn't fathom that some bastards would kill him and take the power for themselves. Also, Cersei chose her champion first and it is Oberyn who jumped at the opportunity to take revenge, so she can't really be blamed for what followed.

      I agree that Tyrion wasn't to blame for Myrcella's death, but he was for her leaving her mother. I think this is Cersei's Achille's heel. Being apart from her children hurts her the most and so she wants Tyrion to feel the same. (I think in the books he already did, with Tysha)

      BCPR she was the one who propped up the Septon and the Faith Militant in the first place because she wanted them to arrest Ser Loras and Margery. In the end, the high Septon turned on her. She was dumb because that guy was banned from King’s Landing by her own father but as soon as Tywin died, he came back. That should have been warning enough, instead she gave him power and replaced the old Septon with this crazy guy. And look how it all turned out.

    • @bcpr9812
      @bcpr9812 7 років тому +3

      I hope she gets some kind of trial, or extended confrontation. Not so that she can defend herself (although I know her speeches will be boss), we know she deserves to die for the good of the realm... but there has to be a lead-up to her demise, and part of that is the major players she has wronged giving her a piece of their mind, before dispatching her. Littlefinger got a bit of that. The difference with Cersei is that it should be a longer scene or scenes, and that LIONESSES DO NOT GROVEL AND BEG FOR THEIR LIVES.

    • @yostinkbitch369
      @yostinkbitch369 7 років тому +3

      BCPR yeah, that would be cool. But I think one of her brothers will kill her. And I have a strange feeling that she's gonna die with dignity, like she won't cry or beg for her life, even if she's tortured, she'll be like "you can't do shit to me anymore", I really despise her but she really impresses me sometimes. And I actually loved the scene between her and Sansa during the battle of the black water, the clip was shortened, she wasn't actually being heartless, she was just realistic as fuck, and teached Sansa one of the best lessons ever, this world is ruthless, especially to women, no matter if you're a queen or a peasant. And Sansa learned it the hard way, "no one can protect anyone" she said to Jon. Sansa really reminds me of cersei sometimes.

    • @bcpr9812
      @bcpr9812 7 років тому +4

      I find Cersei's relationship with Sansa interesting, too, and the scene where they're cooped up during the Battle of the Blackwater is a noteworthy one for me. Even though Cersei ultimately would use Sansa as a pawn and blame her (in part) for Joffrey's death, there were times when Cersei was almost motherly towards Sansa... in her own, bitter, wine-guzzling way. Sansa represented something which Cersei went through, herself: Cersei was married off to Robert, and initially she was more enthusiastic about marrying the king... but that ended when he called her "Lyanna" in bed, on their wedding night. Robert then disrespected her with all of his whoring, etc, all out in the open. He wasn't a psychopath like Joffrey, but his ways created another kind of misery, for Cersei. So she saw a lot of herself in Sansa, and I think she had some conflicting emotions between callously using Sansa, from a house Cersei despised, as a pawn... and better preparing Sansa for the life she was in for if she married Joffrey, or even any life Sansa may be in for in general (given Sansa's station), so that she wouldn't become as miserable as Cersei was (fat chance that Sansa could be happier tethered to Joffrey than Cersei was with Robert, though).
      Sansa was right when she said that she learned a lot from Cersei; Sansa grew up and became a competent, skeptical Lady of Winterfell (*someone* has to handle the mundane, day to day management of a whole castle and region. Not everyone can run off to become an assassin, a resurrected war hero king, or a psychic bird-boy). All of the naivety Sansa started with has been peeled away by the years of harsh reality she's been subjected to, much of it in the company of Cersei. Now Sansa has many of Cersei's strong qualities... except Sansa is a good person who cares about the people beyond the Starks, thank goodness.

    The scariest thing about Cersei is she is just as ruthless if not more than her father and she will still find a way to inflict major damage on Jon and Dani’s forces.
