    I am looking for a standing desk that goes low enough where you can sit on the floor. I've seen some options, I recommend you review these products. Would be great content to watch since all these products are new and no one has reviewed them before. There is two that I have found.

    Hey BTOD TV, I love your unbiased chair and desk comparisons. Any chance you could compare one of the premium Deskhaus options like anything based on their Apex or Apex Pro frame (e.g. Grand Haven or Grand Rapids)? Those seem to use better quality components than any of these, while being in the same ballpark price range.

    • @btodtv
      @btodtv  Рік тому +2

      If you want a top end desk from a component standpoint, you need to get their Vertex base. Their Apex is just 4 JieCang legs tied together. They are not high end components. The wood tops are good quality though. The truth is that we would have a tough time recommending their brand when you can get virtually the same 4 leg desk from Uplift. When you start comparing a one man operation like DeskHaus to a $100m+ company like Uplift, it is tough to justify going with the one man operation from a customer service and warrant standpoint unless the price savings is just too much to ignore. -Ryan

      @@btodtv Thank you so much for the incredibly insightful comment, Ryan! I guess I fell for their kick/shove-test marketing a little, so thank you for saving me from an expensive mistake!
      I always suspected there were shared components between the Apex Pro Max and the Uplift 4-leg V2-Commercial due to visual similarities, and I guess this confirms that. And given the $3.1k price on the Grand Rapids, I shall look elsewhere.
      If I may ask a slightly tangential question: Would you say that the Uplift 4-leg V2-Commercial is the most (or one of the most) stable options available? Stability is probably the most important aspect for me since it'll be used with a 49" ultrawide on an Ergotron arm and standard 2-leg Uplift V2s shake a bit too much for my liking.
      (I've not tried the 2-leg V2-commercial, or any of the 4-leg offerings, though. But intuitively, I'd assume that a 4-leg desk, as long as they are connected at the foot/base, is more stable.)

  • @StardustLegacyFighter
    @StardustLegacyFighter Рік тому +1

    We don't have any of these options available in the UK, although there are some rather nice European built desks on the market. The ones built in Sweden are very pricy, but the quality is impeccable.
    I have a fairly mid market standing desk atm, the electronics are made in Austria and the desk is built in Poland. It was so difficult to find something decent that wasn't manufactured in China.
    I considered IKEA desks and also the one from Secretcrap, but decided against it once I realised that the warranty was poor and the quality is obviously garbage.

      What sort of ones have you been able to find in Europe? I’m after solid wood and have been struggling to find one that ships to the UK and have enough reviews to demonstrate legitimacy

    • @StardustLegacyFighter
      @StardustLegacyFighter Рік тому

      @@RD-uq4hg By solid wood, I assume you mean natural and non-engineered wood?
      In the UK, I came across a few decent companies with a good reputation.
      Have a look at Ergodesks (Scottish company) and see if they have a desk that suits you.
      I also recommend Yo-Yo desk and Friskadesk, these companies sell premium standing desks that are made in Sweden; if you have a high budget, this would be a great choice.
      There's also Fully, which you can buy via Herman Miller UK or directly from their website; although the electronics are made in China.
      If you can't find one that comes with the wood you're after, you might need to buy a desk frame only and then get the desk top from another company.

    Hello, I am wondering your opinion about less staged desk legs. In this video, all your testings are 3 staged (or some say dual staged) desks. Which I think the more moving parts, more possible (tiny) gaps comes inside of the legs. Although there is more overlap at 3 staged desk legs but I think the inevitable gaps are more critical with the stability. Of course there are some trade offs like the height range between dual and singe stage desks, but I wonder, if the limited hight range is okay with my height after all, do you recommend the single (aka 2 staged) desk for more/better stability? Thank you.

    • @btodtv
      @btodtv  Рік тому

      It comes down to a fit issues, more than just the fact they have an additional stage. But of course, when you add more moving parts, it does increase the chances for wiggle in the frame, which is exaggerated as the desk is fully extended -GK

    • @btodtv
      @btodtv  Рік тому +7

      $1000 definitely doesn't go as far today, as it is did just a year or so ago. But the difference between low end, mid range and premium can be significant. $1000 standing desks are mid range, and most of those are imported products from Vietnam and China. While they've made improvements over the last 5-7 years, they are mostly trying to copy the premium brands, and IMO leaves them behind the curve. If you're serious about getting a pretty good standing desk though, I would avoid the $300 options on Amazon and at least look into the mid range :) -GK

      For thousands of dollars you should have furniture grade products, not a cheap flat piece of wood sitting on top of a frame with some motors. In my office I have a beautiful cherry desk that's carved with claw feet, multiple drawers, leather top etc, that's what I expect when I spend thousands of dollars.

    • @WolfOfJustice
      @WolfOfJustice Рік тому

      @@venom5809 I agree, although it does cause issues when you want to stand and work imo. Granted you could just take regular breaks like people used to in the good old days, but for certain jobs in the wfh space, it's pretty difficult to make consistent time for that. The NH desk is definitely a luxury and only truly useful for those who can afford it and get the most out of it.

      @@WolfOfJustice My neighbor just spent a ton of money on a motorized desk a few months ago, I can guarantee you that after the first week it's never moved since and they are people that do marathons and he's an Olympic doctor etc. I go over there all the time and the desk is always at the same height. Also I know how much wood costs, even now. Another neighbor is a retired engineer and he has an entire wood shop in his basement and does projects for friends etc and I had to help him go buy wood to build a massive bookshelf that was probably 12 feet wide with cabinets on the bottom, a lot of wood and even with the crazy prices all that wood was about $500. A bookshelf with cabinets 12 feet wide and 8 feet tall, $500 in wood, retail price, so they are just ripping you off on these desks with a smattering of wood on top. Like you said, just get up and move around. LOL

    MrBeast "hook, then over deliver".
    Saying "I bought 5 premium standing desks for $18,000" or the previous title "The 5 most premium desks I've reviewed" comes off as proud, showy & out of touch with public perception of desk prices. You can cover your valuable experience in the video; the mere fact that you are making a $4k desk video is enough of a hook for the title!
