I've already trained shooting with other bb guns and now just bought this one last night too, but I believe bb guns are great for shooting cans when your all bored or hanging out with family just to see who shoots better!

For everybody watching this in 2021 or later, yes they increased the price on this. BUT, it is a new version so it’s not the same as the one showcased here. With the newer version, the overall build quality is better than before. This includes spring, trigger, magazine, and case quality. You can still find the older version in certain online and physical stores, but I recommend the newer version.

Thanks for the review!! I watched your video after I already bought one. I put mine through the Chrony at around its first 120 shots. After several hundred or a few thousand shots more of breaking in they tend to get more consistent with the velocities and may actually gain some FPS. Anyways, my measured velocities in feet per second with indoor temperature about 75 degrees with 50% humidity, and using Daisy zinc plated BBs with 10 shots Chronied:
    Fastest 202.2
    Slowest 178.7
    Average 188.71
Now bear in mind these pistols just cost in the $15 range (some people expect a Cadillac for $15 - NOT). Plus they only have enough power to dent the side of an empty beverage can and are in the same low power class such as a Daisy 188 (my old 188 is lower power), Marksman 1010 or 1020 (similar power), or Daisy 201 (more power). But they are still fun to plink with.
I think you get a lot for $15. The plastic used seems very sturdy and has a neat take down feature. Cocks only on pulling out the slide and has its own slide return spring so no latch is needed. Safety is where the slide release normally goes on others and magazine release is where a cross bolt trigger safety would normally be. The magazine is a very cool feature and its reservoir actually holds about 250 BBs and the SPRING FED magazine holds 13, I believe. Yes, spring fed on a cheap gun!!
ALSO this pistol is very unique for a springer as it has a separate firing mechanism which is independent of the spring piston power plant so you can manually cock the trigger via the hammer (metal !!) and get a feel for the trigger pull, which is quite decent, BTW, without actually cocking the mainspring. Plus you can uncock it by letting the hammer down - only if the mainspring hasn't been cocked by pulling out the slide which of course cocks the hammer, too. Now if it is all totally cocked, then the hammer can only be let down to a half-cocked position where the gun cannot fire. Unique!!! At least I think so. For a cheap gun or otherwise. And should mention that the trigger pull feels exactly the same whether you are firing with the mainspring cocked or just working the trigger mechanism only.
    END OF RAMBLE

Great price for a .177 bb. There’s ways of making them more powerful too, such as stronger spring etc & dieseling the barrel.

Many years ago while on vacation in Florida I walked into a store and bought a BB gun just like that, a gun my father would never let me have. I was around 16 and I told my cousin Angela to promise she would not tell anyone. She promised and about 10 minutes later she told my father. I got to shoot it once.

I bought this in 2023 for approximately $20 off the Daisy website on SALE. I will concede the price should’ve tipped me off beforehand. I’m mid twenties so I wasn’t impressed - it was consistently inconsistent at 10 or 15 yards while fixed in a vice. Anyway, a Daisy 1938b - the red Ryder - is a great choice if you’re looking to plink around (even in an apartment). Plus, mods enable anyone to increase FPS and Ft/Lbs. This is just a personal take!

  • @JohnSmith-kr6ek

Hi bought this gun for my son. It shot great a few times then stopped. I took the gun apart and found the air piston plastic tube had cracked. The design flaw is the mechanical stop for the piston is off by about 1/16" and the result is the piston smashes against the plastic and cracks it. If the mechanical stop was adjusted correctly it would stop the piston right before it ram against the end. The piston tube needs to be made of metal or high quality plastic like glass filled nylon, not cheap ABS.

I'v now shot this gun enough to comment on performance:
Great gun, it’s accurate and consistent. The sight wasn’t as bad as I thought. Was able to hit and shatter a small 8 oz retro-style coke bottle on my first shot from 50 feet away. Also able to hit targets out to 80 feet before the BB drop becomes heavily noticeable. Beyond that you need to shoot in a parabolic arch to hit things, but it can still reach out pretty far. I guess this shoots the advertised “100 yards” at 45 degrees?

I bought one just for fun and can't put it down. It holds enough ammo for plenty of shooting and if you get the occasional jam you do not need tools to strip it. It's not very accurate or powerful but will shoot clean through a full milk carton or through one side of a full plastic milk bottle, empty bottles the BBs bounce off. 👍

my 340 i wish had hop up like they do in airsoft, this one because of its 240 fps it tends to drop quickly after 20 ft, if they had just a bit of barrel hop we could get this budget bb gun out to 30 ft or more on a 240 fps velocity, glad daisy makes 20 dollar bb guns anyway, they are nice to collect

that's a good piece of kit its cheap looks great perfect for shooting indoors and outside. the only criticism is double feeding its very important to recognize if you failed to cock the action you must remove the magazine or you you could get a jam and that's not good.

    1. Magazine cap is around 11 and lower
    2. Slide is a bit un sturdy but prime weight is easy
    3. Gun is lightweight
    4. Don't drop in grass or anything like dirt bc when u fire it will shoot out dirt too
    5. Using copper 4.5 metal bb's I got close to 300 fps
    6. If you can get it for under 20 dollars I'd get it

  • @justliketolook
    @justliketolook 9 років тому +1

This gun can be made to get 340 fps and its a lot more accurate . The gun can broke down more than you took it . At the rear sight on the under side you will see a plastic piece that fits into the main spring that gives it it's power . the spring is in its own housing this housing has a raised flat piece on both sides ,what you do is push the spring forward with a screwdriver and with a pair of pliers squeeze the two raised pieces that are on both sides closer together ,then pull up on the screwdriver and the back part will be free from its undercut ,then slide back the spring housing to the this will disengage the front part from its under cut slot . you have to keep pressure on the screwdriver so the spring won't come out of the housing because the only thing holding the spring in place was the plastic on the gun it's self so once its raised up it can spring out . Once its out change the toy spring to a manly spring to get around 340 fps and this increases it's accuracy . Once the spring housing is out the rest of the gun parts can be removed like the barrel ect . Another easy way to get more power is to compress the spring . Add washers between the plastic plug and the spring . The more washers you add the more powerful it becomes .Its causes the spring to be closer together and when its cocked back and then released it puts more forward movement faster onto the piston . If you don't want to take the gun apart but want a little more power just put your pliers in between the main spring and pry the spring apart from one end to the other this will make the spring move forward faster once its pushed back . The spring that's in there is very cheap and its the main reason you get a 30 fps difference in shots . Once a good spring is in there its a lot more consistent and can be with in 5 fps shot after shot . the spring is 4 3/4 long out side dia is 29/64 and inside dia is 24/64 . the wire is 2/64 . and it has 20 twist's So get a longer one or better quality thicker wire . At first I stretched the spring out to 6 inches making each coil have equal spacing . It make it so the bb would go out to 20 yards with a pretty good ting on the metal wheel barrel . Its good enough to make a possum or racoon think about getting into your trash can again ,at least for a few hours any ways .Stretching the spring didn't last very long and after a few thousand shoots the bb's started dropping again so I took it apart and checked the spring length and it was back to 4 1/2 inches its original size . In stead of just stretching it back out I went for a better spring . I went with a slightly bigger gauge wire and keep the out side dia the same because it has to fit into the metal piston . and just forced it into the plastic plug at the other end I think it was the next size up like a 3/64 size 1/64 is a big jump as far as wire goes and the force it takes to spring it . I also went with a longer over all length ,I think it was 6 inches . It was a lot harder to push in and hold into place and push the spring housing back into place . I think I added about 100 fps to the 240 it was before .

I already own this bb gun. I bought it for a Halloween costume. It went into a made in Bagdad, camel leather shoulder holster that I had bought in a thrift store that was made for the Beretta M9. Costume shop guns, which all were prices at $20 looked like cheap squirt guns and replicas were too expensive. I paid $27, which is more than the $15 quoted here, but I still think is reasonable given the quality. Now that I already own it, I thought it might be fun to do some target shooting in my backyard. (I have a high fence!) Yes, I have the instructions and will read them carefully, but seeing it work was still very helpful.

Is it safe to dry fire a lot. I bought this for my nephew and it didn't come with bb and all he is doing right now is dry firing. I just don't want it to be a bite in the ass when he gets to shoot it because he broke it.

There's a spring loaded linkage device below the barrel, in frt of the safety. Can't figure what it does. Came here specifically for that. Even the directions don't recognize it.
And safety gloves, for a BB gun? And safety on/off, every time you cock the gun? You must be EH+S certified.

I notice a lot of the barrel dose not show on top (most the slide covers it) unlike in a real m9. is there some birettas that have the same slide as this?

    • @nathanuelsimons8273
      @nathanuelsimons8273 10 років тому

no. the m9 seires have light recoil springs so the slide weight matters a lot. i don't think anyone custom does this slide either.

There’s a little mechanism just in front of the safety, I have no clue what’s that for. The instructions nor you video comment on it, does anyone know?

    Hi,
I am new to bb guns and I am looking to buy this. I am 13 years old and not the strongest 13 year old. My
question is how hard is it to prime? I have a old bb gun from the early 2000's and it is really hard to pull back the slide to prime. Thanks.
