Laser Cladding a molded surface for a glass blow molding company. As parts get worn, they can be renewed with cladding, instead of scraping the entire part.
Base material: HR40
Powder: SP43

My dear old coworker at Owens-Illinois Hungary would have prefferred this for like over 40yrs instead of doing it by hand with a torch :D Literally for the whole plant (5 lines, one operating furnace) by himself..

Powdered metal is transported from the nozzle to the part by a gas, which is probably also providing the shielding from oxidation. The laser, instead of a flame or electric arc or plasma is providing the heat input to fuse the metal.
