As someone that reviewed The Callisto Protocol on its launch I was interested to see how the changes have affected the experience. Has it improved the game or unintentionally made it even worse?
Well in this video I break down the changes and how they fare....for better and worse
I'd love to know what you think of the updates since launch so let me know your thoughts in the comments section, I try to respond to everyone so I'll look forward to discussing it with you.

I guess I'm a huge fan because I just can't stop playing and replaying the game. Combat is great for me, very engaging and addictive.
Thats great! Ultimately, we all have our own tastes, likes, and dislikes. I'm glad you're enjoying it so much - wish I felt the same 😭
Yes I absolutely enjoyed this game I just beat it and I’m gonna play on new game plus to upgrade everything I don’t get the hate the dodging shit isn’t great but still it ain’t the worst i have played bad games and this ain’t one of them now saints row is a shit game
I've come around to enjoying the game myself.
Just beat it today. Awesome game!
Dead Space remake = day 1 NG+
Good job Glen.
The difference between them is night and day. Can't wait to finish dead space remake, been so busy I still haven't moved past chapter 4!!
@@SSJdavey Look forward to your future video/videos on the game. I don't have it myself, but I just finished what is probably my 7th or 8th playthrough of Dead Space 2008, and am already heading to Chapter 3 in the next cycle.
I think I'm going to go enjoy Dead Space 2 as well. My PC can't run the remake - at least not well, so I'm just enjoying the oldies again.
Can't fault the oldies 👌
@@SSJdavey literally same. But ima go play it rn. 🙂
And to think he was responsible for the original. Something happened in the development cycle because has made so many games after. It just doesn't make sense
I haven’t gone back yet but I do want to. I actually enjoyed the game, for the most part, but I really just wanna upgrade all my stuff, I am a completionist in that sense. But I have to say I’m a little bit worried now. I actually didn’t mind getting ganked by enemies sometimes bc I felt like it was never too unfair as long as your timing and focus was right, so I hope its not too easy now. I’m just gonna have to try it myself
Yeah give it a go when you find time, I found it far too easy now the AI was toned down way too much for my taste
If you get complacent or comfortable. If you get cocky or lose respect even with a maxed out GRP or Baton, you'll pay.
I beat it on NG+ Maximum. Enjoyed it.
Had the Hand Cannon almost maxed, Riot Gun maxed, SMG with capacity and damage upgrade and fully maxed GRP and Baton by the end. I only kept the SMG to pick up ammo to sell.
This game actually taught me some tactics and strategy that I immediately implemented into a play through of OG Dead Space while I wait on my physical copy of Dead Space Remake.
I'll probably buy the season pass for TCP. I enjoyed it. Beat it 3 times now, twice on Max.
I feel like it's more fluid, and in my opinion they may have nerfed the enemies a little, but I feel as though they made the 2 Heads and Capt Farris a little tougher.
Just my opinion.
@@purpletigerracing7087 just finished Dead Space and man… was that game great! Way better combat but TCP had a way better story line! And while there’s a lot of haters I am not one of them this game is gorgeous and loved it all till the end!
@runeplate123 I just got DS Remake last night. Played through the 1st chapter. Looks good. Still getting used to the controls. Looks great, enjoying the extra rooms they've added. Tye necromorphs seem to move faster.
I forgot to change tye difficulty to Hard. So I'll do a Hard play through after I beat it.
Enjoying it so far.
TCP is just different. It's a little shorter. Butvits different in good ways. I'm glad I got them both.
Great video man, Some of these changes seem pretty solid. I'm quite fond of the game myself more so than many anyway. It's pretty good and I wanna see that dlc but it's no Dead Space 2 that's for sure🤘
I'm interested by the dlc, I just hope they take their time and put out something that really improves on the base game....
@@SSJdavey Agreed
Constant jumpscares and or hallucinations just to fill the void when jumpscare can't be done as it was just done, enemy speeds through the roof basicly turning the game almost to a shooter. No ty, first Dead Space was better, sure ds2 brought some good quality of life changes/additions but it also made the game worse for reasons just mentioned.
@@PuluSus I'll just have to agree to disagree here.
The game's combat was botched from the beginning. The idea to put the dodge button on the same stick you use to move your character was a mistake. And the challenge of the game came more from bad controls and animations than genuine challenge.
Shocking idea to have it built around dodges and not counters, why the hell isn't there a proper counter system I will never know. Parrys are cool af and outside of a "perfect dodge" there isn't the ability to seperate the men from the boys with any sort of flash 😢
@@SSJdavey There's literally no skill to dodging, just hold left and hold right. Really brainless mechanic
@@SSJdavey
I have not played "The Callisto Protocol" myself, so I could be misunderstanding its combat system.
But to give an apparently contrasting example, "Bloodborne" is a game that gives players the option to both dodge and parry certain attacks, using a well-timed firearm shot for the latter. Also, the dodging does not play out like some repetitive quick-time-event, which players seemingly have to do over and over again in between swings.
No it wasn't
Yeah bloodborne takes skill and mastery to perfect its combat 👌
What a game that is! My favourite from soft title 😍
Time is an interesting commodity.
This game recently went free on Epic Launcher.
My experience with the game was around 5 hours or so, on and off at a friends house. from ch1 to ch6. I would go there and we played while we hung out and had drinks.
I went through it, from "This is cool", to "this is crap" and back again.
The primary issue was MARKETING. Glen and his crew were talking it up as if it was going to follow up and surpass Dead Space... and that set it up for failure.
over a year removed from that hype, and on a free copy, I beat the game in 8 hours and immediately booted an NG+ and am 3 chapters in... over the course of a handful of days.
I love this game. I have found depth in the combat, with various ways to 'extend' combos and keep enemies from retaliating. NG+ has been great because as i bring my gear to new levels, I am excited to see how much they wreck house.
There are many complaints, but this far from release, and on a FREE copy (which is pretty important to note), I am having a blast. I would say if Dead Space Remake is a 9.5/10 for me, then Callisto Protocol is easily an 8/10.
It has issues, it has flaws, but it is FUN. The combat initially came across as one note, and monotonous but that is a really poor criticism to lay on a game.
This game basically inverts the norm... so most games you shoot and use melee as a finish or in a pinch - but this game is more melee focused and then you shoot for crit dmg... okay?
how is that 'repetitive', but shooting everything 90% of the time isn't?
Furthermore, this game plays almost exactly like TLoU 2. You can shoot a kneecap, charge in and melee. The dodge system is basically exactly the same as TLoU 2.
I'm rambling, but it's a real shame this game caught the hate it did. Everyone wants to enjoy a witch hunt nowadays, but this game deserved better and could have possibly gotten better reception if they didn't misrepresent themselves on Glen's shoulders.
Amazing review! Not sure how I feel about the changes. Just from your review gameplay I share your sentiment that the combat might be too easy now. I do remember at the beginning of my first playthrough I felt that the combat was tedious (launch day.) I felt that way until I started experimenting with all the various mechanics and found just as you did, that it was a do or die kind of thing ,when it came to encounters. When I think of it now, I realize that it made me fond of the game. Also at the end of only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was those goddamn crawling sections haha.
The crawling and shimmys were everywhere it was so overkill 😴
@@SSJdavey Remember: those sections exist NOT because they hide loading screens.
Surely it's to mask loading, same as the doors taking a hot minute whenever it doesn't expect you to go back to a section you've previously been to 🤔
Why artificially slow the pacing if its not for that reason?
Have this game on ps4 pro. Glitchy as hell to start but I still enjoyed it. Got the patch there. Completely different game and experience new game plus it’s epic. Sensational experience imo
as someone who just finished the hardest difficulty i don’t see how this game could even be called hard on any other difficulty
I love this game reminds me of old school xbox 360 games with movie level graphics 👌 😎
ilove this game and particularly + mode. You get to go kick ass on all the infected that were kicking your ass. Just blow them away with an explosive shot, no brainer.
I beat it within a week of launch and have absolutely no desire to return to it whatsoever. The problem wasn't difficultly for me. It was fun factor mainly. The only sequence I had any fun with was the blizzard with the frozen enemies and thats maybe 3 minutes in an 11 hour game. The rest is a robotic beat em up followed by 5 hours of stealthing past the exact same blind enemy type.
Another problem was the blandness of everything. From the architecture to the lore it was just tasteless scifi mush. I know everyone and their mother compares this game to Dead Space but I honestly can't think of a single aspect of Dead Space that is as bland and devoid of character as Callisto is.
You can't fix my Callisto problems with patches. You'd have to completely rebuild the game with new art and a new story and that ain't gonna happen.
Oosh that's a dunking! I can see exactly what you mean though and you're right the main problems this game suffers from can't be patched, it's a failure of design from the plot right through to exploration. Damn shame really 😕
I loved CP but im happy im not the only one who thought the sneak portion of the game was purposely put there to make the game feel "longer" than it really was
Got tiring after a while too
I actually liked this game a lot😂 maybe it’s me. But when dead space remake dropped I was def more addicted to ds than cp
I played Callisto Protocol NG+ like Dead Space, forget melee BS, I just used guns and it's waaaay better and funnier. THe major problem with TCP is the boring combat, other than that the game is very good.
How did you find the story? Did the characters/plot vibe with you?
@SSJdavey for me I definitely liked it the ending left me wanting more
The on edge gameplay was the only reason I enjoyed this game love the content man 🤙
The atmosphere was pretty damn good on a first run I'll give it that
No ng+ if you complete it in dismemberment mode?🤔
Callisto Protocols biggest problem was the combat hands down. It looks flashy the first time you see it, but then you quickly realise that it's what makes up 80% of the combat in the entire game. You can't do different combos really, and you only get 1 melee weapon, which means that all encounters play out the same - you just beat the shit out of them with the same attack combos and dodge. Which wears off in like 2 hours tops, and gets to a point where you roll your eyes at every encounter. Guns are way too weak and only become viable at maximum upgrades which is shit...
Dead Space on the other hand was scary because keeping the enemies away was the whole game and when they got close it was panic mode. Melee and stomping was Issac's last resort.
If it even had a fun gameplay loop, I think it could have been reasonably carried by the setting, and even a mid tier story. But nope, it's just a melee simulator...
I platinumed the vanilla version and have no real desire to return. I didn't even think it was bad, just very average. I felt they replicated many combat mistakes they also made with Dead Space 3, proving they learned nothing from that debacle.
I can't remember much of DS3 other than it was a major disappointment, so if nothing else it's consistent 🤣
I actually enjoyed this game very much. The Dead Space Remake was better, but the Callisto Protocol was still good. It's available at a knckdown price now too, definitely worth a punt for anyone that hasn't played it.
People wanted this to be dead space so bad, they bullied Striking Distance into making is as much Dead Space as it could. This game had to potential to be a "Souls-style" horror game and its been turned into actual Dead Space at home
A simple solution is to add a toggle classic or new combat system before starting a game so both sides can be happy.
Imo they dumped it down too much. Healing is likely meant to be out of combat use or be an extremely risky one.
They could have also kept harder combat AI for the hardest difficulty........
I think it is good if higher difficulties have other things different than dmg dealt and taken modifiers.....
Maybe hardcore mode will give us a solution but I'm not too hopeful
If im being honest, I dont think TCP and the issues you bring up about difficulty, are the real issue, I generally think TCP, in general is just bad overall in design, and the reason you don't like the changes now or that players before wanted more improvements, just generally goes to show, you can't fix bad design. The mechanics if done well, would of never needed two sides to be so polar opposite. The inherent melee combat and its dodge mechanic requires no skill, and them diminishing the the skill ceiling, for other elements such as heals and weapons, and enemy behavior just goes to show, that everything was generic and not thought out right, this is why any adjustment is not met with universal acclaim. If these devs truly want to fix TCP they would just re-invent the mechanics to fit the world and systems better.
Who thinks of a dodge mechanic, that doesn't take into account, direction of input, as an example. There is just nowhere for that to grow, to become better, other than making direction matter, which is how any good game would of done it and has done. There is only one way to improve on that and thats to do what other games have already done, thus destroying what they set out to do anyway. So they've put themselves in a position, of being generic no matter what they do. Unless they scrap a gameplay system and re-think it for something new and original in its place.
Which they wont do. Thats why this game will take years upon years to reach 5 million sales if it ever does. I think this this game will serve as a lesson, on when accessibility is at the forefront of a game, rather than a consideration. Good game-play systems can include accessibility options and design choices without it causing a determent to the game-play overall, but in bad cases, you get The Callisto Protocol. However, when you compare Dead Space, to TCP, I am shocked at how someone like Glenn Schofield doesn't understand that nuance.
I begin to see evidence that perhaps Glenn was never the person to really drive the gameplay or mechanics and systems of the world, but probably was more of a jack of all trades, just overseeing things, but he did come up with the cool settings and world building, but that is nowhere near as critical as gameplay ..in a game. Where it matters most. I think someone at Visceral Games was really under appropriated, when it came to testing and refining Dead Space's gameplay, systems and flow of combat, and Glenn was probably overvalued if I am being honest.
It seems that way!
In my full review (this was just an update) I fall very much in line with what you've said here, how the plot, gameplay design etc Is all to blame for such a middling experience
I preordered the game but didn’t pick it up when I heard that it basically released unfinished and combat was broken. Striking Distance could either listen and respond to consumer feedback on the biggest turn offs for the game or they could double down on the problems like Back 4 Blood did. B4B never fixed the main issues players had with the broken difficulty or reward system. Now they’re moving on due to dwindling player count in the low thousands. Gotta give credit to SD for at least listening to their community.
Can you play dismemberment mode, beat it and do ng+ on normal?
New game plus doesn’t carry items on PS5 when you reach the first reforge as it’s supposed to.
It did for me?
@@SSJdavey I’ll try again, fingers crossed 🤞
Idk I haven't seen people complaining about the "difficulty" of the game. The complaints are usually on the combat system just being unfun. Personally, I refunded the game because it wasn't what I was looking for. I wasn't looking for Dead Space 4 or anything like that. I just wanted some gritty, survival horror. I didnt feel any sort of fear. It would've just been average, like 5-6/10, if the combat system wasn't the antithesis to survival horror. They put faaaar too much power in the players hands; infinite dodging with 0 skill required and the GRP being able to pick up & chuck enemies are some of the most egregious faults.
The callisto Facebook group when it launched was stacked with people complaining about the 2 head platform section, it was all I was seeing!
Totally agree with what you've said here apart from GRP, I found it balanced quite well with the lack of batteries on the first run which offsets the power it provides
You're bang on though the combat system and dodging in particular is so basic as soon as you get it down
Damn shame 😕
Tbh I think a lot of this is nit picks but some things here CAN AND should be definitely fixed changed, innovated on on and something should’ve never left the testing stage but at the end of the day I can’t give this game less than a 7.5 and some parts of the game definitely rocket to a 9 . At the end of the day I had a lot of fun and a lot of scares with this one but need the team to do better with a sequel
With a sequel I hope they'll knock it out of the park
@@SSJdavey honestly I commented on the wrong video my bad you were fair tbh
I love the game, I like it even more than Dead Space Remake.
i love your voice. hows is the stuttering? on pc
I'm not sure sorry, I don't game on pc if I can help it (whenever I have in the past I always encounter issues with drivers or some random nonsense that I'm not knowledgeable enough to fix 😅😅)
I'd be surprised if there's issues with stuttering at this point, it's been patched quite a lot!
Thanks for the compliment too 👌
Am I missing something?
I beat the game the week it came out.
Put it down and haven't touched it since.
Just loaded it up today (after the NG+ & Hardcore Updates)
And I do not see the option to start a New Game Plus at all.
Just "continue" & "new game"
You might need to beat the last boss again, hopefully you have a save right before it...
If I start maximum security through new game plus, does everything still carry over ? I hear the assault rifle is the best weapon in the game
Yeah you have everything 👌
I think the way combat is now is to prep for hard-core mode
I havnt checked out hardcore mode yet, isn't it just a reduction on resources and damage has been skewed where we deal less and enemies deal more?
@@SSJdavey I mean they made the combat lil easyer to Handel and fighting groups is not as bad as it was, at first if ur caught in a group ur fucked now they monsters seem to take turns on ya when your fighting a group, thinking they did this to make the combat better for hard-core but still intense ,with less supplys ,
Real question is well anyone ever beat a No hit Run on this 🤣?!!!!!
To do it you'd have to know where all those annoying tentacle grabbing monsters are and never open a crate or locker so those leech creatures don't have a chance to pop out, outside of that it probably wouldn't be too bad!
@@SSJdavey it shall be called The Ultra instinct run xD having to have a 4th sense of dodging
My only real gripe with the game was the crawling and shimmying. I know sometimes that kind of thing is used to slow down and load new areas, but surely they can't have needed that many points to load right? You were crawling through a gap every 2 minutes.
It wasn't enough to ruin the game or anything but it was weird
Very weird, wonder if it's due to it having to run on ps4?
I recently beat the game on the hardest difficulty for the first time but I didn’t get The Protocol is About Life trophy. Is it true that you have to beat the game on NG+ on Hardcore mode to get this trophy?
Good question, I'd be surprised that's the case. For me personally I did the hardest difficulty and NG+ at the same time to get the platinum but I don't believe that's a necessity
I have actually been playing the game for a while now. I admit, I'm actually one of the few people who likes the combat or to be more specific, knows how the combat works. Most people complained about the combat as whole being terrible, but I think the main problem with it is not the combat in itself, but the pacing. I mean you guys can look up on YT to see cool combat gameplays and those videos sums up how people should've played the game. The combat is the only thing that keeps me coming back because I understand it, and I kinda like it. Anyways, these updates don't really change the game at all imo. It's still a bad game. When I first played this game (Day 1 btw) I'm pretty lucky to have not experience any bugs or performance issues (I played it on PC), but my problem with it is that it's just too bland and boring. These updates? They don't add anything. I've been replaying the game from zero until the NG+ so having NG+ is cool, but I'm already used to not replaying it with NG+ so, again, these updates don't change anything.
Also, a lot of people seems to defend the game by saying "it's not a Dead Space game! So stop comparing it to Dead Space!". My response will always be the same. It is true that it's not a Dead Space game, but one of the people who worked on this game was Glen Schofield. People know him to the the guy behind Dead Space and he certainly knows that too. With that fact, instead of making a different game than Calisto, Glen sort of (sorry for the lack of better word here) "exploits" the fact that he made Dead Space, so he made a game that looks like Dead Space. In a sense, he's basically said "Hey guys, it's me! The guy who made Dead Space! I'm making a game that looks like Dead Space but it's not Dead Space!".
I know I'm kinda ranting here and went off topic but still, I just wanna share some things that people keep saying about Calisto and my response to them as a hardcore Dead Space fan and probably the only person on this planet who spent 100 hours on Calisto.
Its quite refreshing to see someone say they enjoy it but know its not a great game. I'm the same with a myriad of titles where I know its not great or hell even good, but I still enjoy it for what it is
Just played it (March 2023) and loved it. The dodging is super intuitive and the melee combat is so badass you can feel it!! Super fun to play. Tied with TLOU Part 1 as my favorite PS5 game
I'm glad you enjoyed it 👍
Just incase you havnt played it I'd recommend returnal, until GOW ragnarok that was my fav game on the system- well worth checking out 👌
@@SSJdavey I heard that Returnal was hard AF… or that it was frustrating. Maybe because of the “repeating entire areas” after ya die? Or lack of save points? Can’t remember. Wanna try it but don’t wanna get pissed at the game and throw my Dualsense lol
Its challenging but as soon as you "get it" you flow through it, its mega addictive!
They've made it slightly easier as they've added in the ability to save runs now which means you don't have to play continuously for hours if you're on a great run!
If you like a challenge and fantastic gameplay it's a must play
@@SSJdavey I’ll take your advice and get it soon. I’ll buy a pre-owned copy (this way I have seven days to try it and return/trade for full value if I don’t like it)
@@franktodarello538 it's free on PS Extra if you're subscribed to it?
I completed the game on dismemberment difficulty but it didn't release NG+ what do I do?
Do you mean maximum security?
If ng+ isn't showing for you then I guess the game is botched and you'll have to replay before you'll have ng+ as an option 💀
@@SSJdavey I finished the game on easy difficulty but it didn't unlock.
It's not that hard really.
Make normal difficulty have all these changes, and have a super hardcore mode with original settings. There you can have both worlds covered.
The healing mechanic was a good change IMO, mostly because you can't expect people to be speedrunners doing an entire are no hit. It can become frustrating and not challenging. Even more, checkpoints could fuck you up if you get caught with no healing between fights. But again, you could have the old slow animation on hardcore difficulty if you want.
Weapon swap is a good change too.
I think they just need to balance normal and hard experiences and they'll be ok.
This sounds significantly different after the update, most of it for the better. I’ll tell ya though, after my first playthrough, I don’t even have a desire to come back to this. It was solid for a one time play, but a lot of it was pretty frustrating.
I get you, I cant see it bringing too many back but it might invite a few people in who heard it was too challenging? Who knows
@@SSJdavey definitely agree
I feel the same way; at the end of my experience, I was honestly relieved to be done with it, as I felt nothing but anger due to how frustrating the game got...I just was not having any fun by the halfway point; it was just feeling like a chore. Plus, the writing was lacklustre and not very good, which really didn't help me getting through it. I just can't bring myself to return to it.
@The Circle of T.E.D it needs something really special with its story expansion dlc to change the perception on the game, not holding out hope though
@@SSJdavey Likewise; they could've made the story good, with the setup they had, but make decisions that leave potential lost (I feel Jacob should've been a career criminal over just a cargo pilot involved in a suspicious job), and moments that feel like they could make a decent chance to develop the story and characters are botched.
The ending teasing a DLC/sequel was the last insult to me; having Jacob sacrifice himself at the end was the last chance to redeem his character for being badly written & developed; that twist where he knew he was shipping the pathogen to Europa (despite earlier having it look like he just realised he was responsible) was one of the stupidest moments in the story.
Sounds like the feedback they received was “it needs to be like Dead Space 3” and the game was made easy and not scary. Thanks gamers for not knowing what survival horror is.
Just add a classic mode of how the game was before the patch, or add it to hardcore mode.
That would be great or even if they added in some customisable menu so you can augment it how you want (I can have fast swap and enemies/damage returned to how they were)
the goat posts again
Can you play new game plus indefinetly?
Good question, I assume so but I havnt gone back or even checked out the option of NG++
It went 20% off like 2 weeks ago on ps4...
Not even 2 months in...that can't be a good sign for the investors.
My Theory : They sabotaged Callisto to sell more Dead Space
Thats not a great sign at all, but not too surprising given the reception
The only issue with the theory is that they are published by 2 completely different companies, Krafton published TCP, whereas EA published Dead Space, so there's no monetary incentive for Krafton/ striking distance to help Dead Space.
@@SSJdavey I admit, I'm kinda reaching out with that one. I can't even justify it but I also can't believe they went :
You know what, it's a good enough game, let's release it ! (with confidence)...
Maybe it's also the classic : we need to rush it out b4 Dead Space Release to maximize sales kinda thing ?
Haven’t gone back. Callisto failed survival horror for me, between the cheap scares, forced shimmy/crawl segments and botched combat mechanics it gives me no incentive to play it knowing it’s just the same repetitively dull experience again and again.
Unlike the dead space remake which feels fresh and fun even after a 5th run.
You're so lucky you've played remake through that many times, I've been so busy with videos I havnt got past chapter 4 yet 😭
@@SSJdaveybummer, but when you’ve got the time Dead space is worth every second
This games should have been 30 dollars at most. They spent all the budget on the character models and paying Josh Duhmel and maybe composing a theme song but not much else. I know im really dunking on this game. I could probably make a whole youtube channel talking about this game. I know some people liked this game but 70 dollars? Come on y'all please expect more from these companies.
I found this game very difficult so i gave up
This game is so dead to me, for me, the main problem of this game isn't what people are talking about, for me is very simple, I bought a Horror Game, and get an Action Melle Game without any Horror in it, I feel betrayed and robbed, is that simple. They can fix a lot of things, but I doubt they are ready to make the non-horror game becomes a horror game, finished the game without any scares was so depressing....
The marketing set all our expectations on it being something it wasn't 😕
@@SSJdaveynot the first time and for sure not the last.
To the OP. I watched a video comparing this game do dead space and author of the video pointed out of what horror is. It is not just gore as it will just make humans numb after a while, it is the fear of the unknown and the feeling of danger.
This is why sounds of necromorphs in the vents and them jumping out from them (mainly with distance between them and the player, with exception of few jump scares to change the pace) was so effective. You needed to keep them at distance with stomp being used go get resources or as finisher. In Callisto you have close combat which after a while you get use to, the jump scares which are more annoying than atmospheric.
I want to like this game, I really do, but let’s be honest, no changes can make this a good game. It doesn’t have the fundamentals of a good game. Looks amazing, but it’s a bad game with boring game mechanics. Dead space was good because you had to aim for specific points on the enemies while being under pressure from multiple enemies around you, and it felt like you could be creative in how you would make it out on top from that fight. This has nothing - holding left dodges (you don’t have to time anything) and after combos it auto aims for you to take a shot? The whole game is basically one long cutscene. It’s kind of pathetic. Not to mention that there’s only one baton combo that you’ll watch over and over again - like at least gimmick me into thinking I have choice with different combos. It’s boring, it’s bad, and it will never be good. I wish them the best of luck on their next project and hope they’ve learned a lot from this one.
I agree, you'd have thought they'd give some variety to the melee if thats the main combat tool; different weapons, combos a parry system. But no. They just left it... god knows why
@@SSJdavey just not a good game. And you know all the things you wish could be added won’t be at this point. Missed opportunities.
Getting ganked on a 1v1 designed brawler system is not hard...its cheap and inept..If you liked it...well each to his own.
This game is just too easy now, especially with the quick heal, there is no tension during combat. The way the infected literally just take their turn makes it so much less challenging. This game was perfect at launch IMO. A few bugs but the difficulty was actually not easy and I died multiple times. Now I run through and It’s a fucking cake walk man. And don’t get me started on the tedious shit show that is hardcore. they fucked this game up.
Don't like it and even with 30% off on Steam now I cannot recommend it
It’s not dark souls
U jus want the game to be easy like dead space
I don't at all, if you watched it you'd know I'm more frustrated that they've made it easier
Jesus, this game’s 2 months old and it’s dead af.
Ive been playing DS:remake for the first time. I still prefer Callisto.
Too many bitches complaining its hard. The game was not hard at all. It required tactics and timing depending in the situation.
I found it challenging for sure but it was always my own fault not the games. People just whined about it and it got changed too far to the games detriment 🤷♂️
@@SSJdavey Callisto got a lot of hate because it was different to Deadspace. Yes its different but its the same lore pretty much. Different mechanics and next gen graphics
@J kek it got hate for having an unfun combat system, hollow characters, middling level design, and a tropey af stereotypical story. At the very least, the visuals and animations are quite stunning. For me, the game wasn't hard. In fact, it was the opposite for the most part. The braindead dodging really took me out of it. So easy a lobotomite can do it
@@buildman126 Im currently playing DS and its no better than Callisto. Its still fun but nothing great.
@@Senseigainz umm no it got hate because it’s pure garbage.
Boring melee combat it’s qte dodging hit shoot and that’s it
No variety in enemies
You literally fight the same boss 4 times in a row
No exploration
No puzzles
No map
Can’t store items away in a storage box
No replay value
The dodge is tied to the same button as block button
Can’t skip cutscenes
Jacob is a very slow character
Can’t run away from encounters
Not even close to being scary when you have the same jumpscares with the same enemies which can just boring and repetitive at some point.
The story is predictable and boring and not remotely complex or unique like dead space.
I really should have saved for dead space remake instead of this 🥲
😭 thats grim x
My biggest problem with it was the whole "stealth" part being way to long.
Really drained the fun alot
Yeah it lasts for ages!
The benefit with NG+ is you have loads of ammo/guns so that part I just ran through blasting. Made it a bit better
@@SSJdavey Yeah I started to just throw them into the spikes later on 😂
i saw your dead space mobike review video, please make modern combat 1,2,3,4 and 5 videos, they are basucally gameloft versions of call of duty clones for mobile they are actually pretty good, the make many alternate version of oc titles on mobile like backstab the clone of assasin creed. Shadow guardian the uncharted clone, NOVA the HALO clone please make videos about these games : )
I'll give them a look!
I've got a stacked list of games right now but who knows I might be able to squide in something
@@SSJdavey well i really want know your pint of view of these games, and they are authentically really good mobile games please try and make video about these : )
Funny enough, I’ve experienced more bugs with the Dead Space Remake than I did with day one Callisto 💀
I'm only 4 chapters into dead space remake but so far *touch wood* I havnt had bugs with either game or not anything major anyway
The crawl through vents or shimmy through sceneries are loading screens....
i had day one.... i was on discord with my friend cussing the moon and back about the reloading. IDK what kind of testing they did but any gamer would have told you that was shit
Yeah I don't know what they were thinking with that originally 💀
I think with the current change to the game. It's should be only applied to the easiest difficulty setting while for the harder difficulty setting would be the way it was before the patch.
This way players can have the option for a harder experience without these changes. While others that just want to play mostly just for the story can use the easier difficulty that has these changes and have an easier time to follow along with the story without much hassle and the determine after they are done decide wether or not if they want to increase the difficulty.
Totally agree 👍
I'm loving this game
Gamepass brought me here
This game was awesome.
Visually, but that’s ab it lol
Its pretty but generically designed and there was so much issues with story and gameplay
@@natel_9945 what was generic about it? The combat system was unique
hey guys, do you know is i start a ng+ can i get the trophies i miss in the regular story ?
Yeah 100% you can
thank you @@SSJdavey
Really wanted to love this game. Bought the collector's edition and severely disapppointed. Its marketing portrayed survival horror but its gameplay is a interactive almost on rails shooter. They just copied the story of dead space but changed a few details. Extremely weak narrative. They give us hardly an backstory to characters and we are expected to care about them. Weapons requires exorbitant amounts of currency that takes up inventory space. Limited inventory with limited visits to the shop. Enemy encounters are overly scripted and predictable. When something is repetitive and predictable it stops being scary. The difficulty and length of the game is artificially padded with bullet sponging enemies. Stealth implemented in specific parts rather than being an actual mechanic or strategy for gameplay. Unskippable cutscenes. Horibble implementation of checkpoint and saving systems. Slight spoiler but.........i was concerned with having escort missions when meeting up with the support characters. The game instead has "oops youve been separated, meet up 5 mins later" this is done numerous times and its probably because they couldnt balance having "their combat system" while protecting an npc. Which begas the question how the hell the other npcs survived with less gear than you. Also please for the love god stop locking walking animations. There is a sprint function that only works in certain parts of the game. They force you to walk in certain parts to up the stakes or increase the fear factor which invalidates its use. You cant really run from battles.
I just tweak my settings to my likings tbh to make things bearable , I turned up sensitivity quite a bit as I found it sluggish as mentioned and noticed near the end of the game there is ways to cheat the enemies , just dodge till you get that free time to hit as enemies don’t always attack twice at once (side note the sprint failing can be annoying if I must say) but for the most part if it gets like buggish just do the cheap method and use the grav gauntlet (upgrade it tho cause it’s pretty mid stock)
This game wasn't hard at all.....casual gamers.
I don't see where the hate for its challenge came from personally. The groups I am in were over loaded with people complaining though, so maybe we are in the minority?
@@SSJdavey it's seems that way. I'm just tired of everyone, this game is too hard, this doesn't play the way I want to, it's not as good as the original. I hate what gaming has become.
Is your intro music just smash Bro’s in pop punk😅🤣🤣🥲
Its a smash bros brawl theme, can't remember the stage but I think it's final destination or Battlefield...can't remember 🤔
My channel originally started as smash content so I have always kept it 😅
@@SSJdavey didn’t know that just stumbled upon it and recognized lol keep it up tho!
awesome vid
Cheers Kevin glad you liked it 👍
Only 10 - 15h to finish the game ? Can someone please confirm ?
Google puts it approx 11 hours
@@SSJdavey , i read that too but want to know by someone who played it .
@@vizi1 I think it took me about 12 hours first time but I honestly can't remember, I might have mentioned it in the full review but I have no idea now sorry
@@SSJdavey, thank you very much . And thank you for the video :)
Anytime! Sorry I can't offer anything exact its been a while!
Is the difficulty level important for the New Game Plus trophy or can I play on the easy level to get the New Game Plus trophy????
For new game plus you can play it on any difficulty but if you want to get the hard difficulty trophy you can do a double and get both at the same time
Can I get achievement new game plus I finish maximum difficult?
Yeah you can get both at same time
Oh I'll still play it, thanks for the info though.
👍
If you end up trying hardcore let me know what it's like
No challange now!? Great 😮💨
Hardcore has just released as of yesterday I think? So I don't know if that changes it up and adds challenge back in...not too hopeful though 🤔
@@SSJdavey eu gostei da dificuldade padrão do game antes do pach. Depois não joguei, mas fiquei desapontado.
New game + doesn’t pop up on my screen. Even after I beat the game twice. Before and after patch
