in fairness... idk outside of the Bale Batman movies (good), Gadot Wonderwoman (also good), and fluke Aquaman film that DC has much ground to stand on compared to Marvel. Whatsoever, and for good reason. Just like the comics they make mostly unlikable heroes, but somehow good enough villains to get by. That said, Godzilla trumps all.. because people suck and radioactive dinosaur dragons are way more interesting. Fact

Godzilla King of the Monsters was a fantastic film to me, yeah the characters and some parts could’ve been better but the monsters, fights, references, and the way they had the connection with Kong was amazing. Easily my favorite out of the 3 and makes me more hype for GvK. Long Live the Kings
CC 33 Agreed. The switching between kaiju battles and human drama sure plucked you right out of the mood. That was the only real annoyance for me.
Agreed, they made ghidorah look terrifying, made mothra look like a true queen, rodan was very agile and can chase jets, and godzilla proved himself to be the true king of the monsters. Easily the best out of the 3 movies.

I don't think the Monsterverse continuity establishes Ghidorah as an Extraterrestrial. He was in the Showa era, but not in other eras.

If you watch the Kong: it says he's still young and growing. But pretty sure he'll have a exponential growth spurt once he leaves that island, which seems to effect the age of most that reside there. Kong will probably get the title King when the world witnesses him fighting Godzilla as an equal. And he'll probably be about the same size as Godzilla by then too

@@ondonda3663 im at 7 now. Lol maybe 8 this evening. Ive been explaining much of the special parts of the movie that relate to history and he had no clue. He liked it but didnt know a lot of the details. It is such a salute to the fans and to TOHO and to Mr Honda and Mr Tsuburya and Mr Ifukube and all the rest that started it all and worked so hard to continue the legacy. I dont compare Shin to this. Shin is its own storyline. 14 was a decent start and this hits it out of the park. This isnt the actors movie. They have been granted a part in the historical legacy. All the nuances in the movie didnt need to be explained. If you know some history it touched your heart. If youre a newbie out there, so be it. You have missed a lot over the years. There was so much information in the end clip headlines that added a lot.

The reason Western Godzilla's cinematic universe succeeds compared to the slew of other failed cinematic universes that other studios have attempted to launch is because Legendary is actually taking the time to develop it. Godzilla has over half a century's worth of films and lore to build a cinematic universe around, establishing a story that expansive requires many years of work. We're three films in already and we've barely scratched the surface of the Western Godzilla's universe, it's fresh and exciting and I can't wait to see more.
One thing I love about Godzilla is no matter how bad or good his movies do they will always get rebooted

Godzilla: King of the Monsters isn't a bad movie at all. It's a 2019 Kaiju movie, what's there to dislike? I swear, people just like being negative 🤷🏾♂️.
That's just it. Kaiju movies just don't sell with US moviegoers outside of a nitch fanbase. The Jurassic Park/World franchise sells, but not Kaiju.GvK does have the potential to
break out because it has a true "Event film" clash of icons air to it.

I went to see this movie as a complete Godzilla noob. To give you an idea, I didn't even know that him and King Kong are set in the same universe.
So here's what I thought about it.
The story largely made sense, which is pretty rare for that type of movie. They usually heavily rely on suspension of disbelief to actually function, but with this movie, there was only one part that really grinded my gears with its nonsense. So, uh, pretty good. I can't say I was emotionally invested, but I wasn't expecting to be either, and some characters were likeable enough that I enjoyed watching them (I LOVED Charles Dance's acting, he's always such a treat to watch).
Even though I didn't know that much about the franchise, the movie was able to explain its main points pretty clearly, so I never felt lost or confused. It DID make me want to learn more about the other kaijus, which, I think, is a big plus. So that's also really good!
About the special effects: they got better and better as the movie progressed. I was pretty disappointed that I couldn't fully SEE many of the kaijus (Mothra, especially) BEFORE the final fight. The rest of the time, they were shrouded in fog, or water, or whatever else, which is understandable (CGI is hard and very expensive), but if I noticed it, maybe it wasn't subtle enough. Still, the final fight was incredible, and the kaiju designs (or adaptations, renditions however you want to call it) were overall awesome!
I thought that the movie presented an interesting conflict, since technically, both sides in this aren't completely opposed. I was looking forward to where they'd take it, but unfortunately, a lot of its main points got resolved in unsatisfactory ways in my eyes. It was a bit disappointing to see such an interesting and nuanced debate being introduced only to be completely killed by a couple of "fortunate" turns of events. I almost wish they hadn't been brought up if they were only meant to go nowhere.
The characters were diverse and believable. There was never a moment where I felt like a certain character behaved in an odd way, or took a decision that wasn't in line with their overall persona.
The movie did a great job at making the story feel large in scope. You see the characters travelling a lot and it FEELS exhausting. There are believable explanations for why the kaijus travel from one place to another and such, so that's all really good. There was only one point of the movie that got me emotional, and it involved kaijus, not humans. But that's okay, as I mentioned earlier, I wasn't expecting to be moved, I just wanted to see dope monsters.
So overall, I'd give the movie a solid 7/10. Good, fun to watch, would maybe watch again. Plot was decent, but I wish the movie hadn't made such obvious use of fog and other natural elements to hide parts of its kaijus and save up on CGI. Since I also wasn't emotionally invested, I can't find it in me to give it a higher score than a 7. I also didn't feel any particular attachment/reaction to any kaijus, beside Mothra. Which I ADORED.
So yeah, the movie was good, really good. Great? Maybe not, not to me at least, but that's okay.

The Monsterverse is the only shared universe that I care about now cuz they have built such an awesome mythology of monsters and historical fiction that seems legit and fictional at the same time, while getting the Monsters right. I want the Monsterverse to live on after GVK, and don't let cynical"critics" ruin my love for kaiju movies. Long live the MonsterVerse!
You should care about the toho cinematic universe. Monsterverse is gonna end in 2020 and a new godzilla series is coming in 2021.

Fun fact: Kong in the King Kong movie of this franchise was only a toddler in his current life stage. When his backstory is explained, this is revealed. Now, 30-40 years later when Godzilla vs Kong is set, Kong should be a full grown adult. In short....monkey's gonna be big enough to tangle with the King of Monsters.

I worry a little because, with how huge Ghidorah was, it's hard to imagine how Kong could possibly compete without being a lot more buffed. As speculated tons of times now, they probably will only have one or two smaller fights, but then something like Mecha King Ghidorah or something will be brought in as an "enemy of my enemy" boss that will put off any sort of "official" result between Godzilla and Kong.

Godzilla king of the monsters was so much fun to watch. I certainly hope that they will continue after Godzilla VS Kong, it would be silly for them not to, something like Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla or MecaGidorah. there is still so much they can do even after the fight against King Kong.

*My Favorite Monsterverse Movies (So Far):*
*1.) Godzilla: King of the Monsters (10/10)*
Great movie, it never felt short of monster battles, and the plot is pretty straight foward, the acting was great, and of course, the villian was a badass, truly a traditional godzilla movie!
*2.) Kong: Skull Island (9/10):*
No doubt, the funest Monsterverse movie, and also no doubt the best version of kong, the movie will make you care for the title character more than the human characters, and even the humans are better than the last!
*3.) Godzilla (6/10):*
It may not be the best in terms of Monster action or decent characters, but it's good in terms of pacing and the height and weight of the monster battles feels realistic, it's worth a watch!
I luv the monsterverse, I know GKOTM is struggling but I hope Kong vs Godzilla ignites the universe!!! Hell I enjoyed the Dark universe. But as great and successful as the MCU has been, it's also hurt all these other verses!

So far I have been having fun with all 3 Mobsterverse movies. I feel Godzilla vs Kong will fight for a bit and then fight a Mecha version of one of the monsters. I am not going to elaborate on that due to spoilers. If you havent watch Godzilla KotM I'll definitely recommend it, the Kaiju fights are AWESOME.
