Am I the only one thinking the his “uncle” could actually be his father. But she didn’t want to say anything because side she was truly in love with his “dad.” So, his dad resented him for exaisting because he thought OP may not be his child.
No see I wouldn't trust them not to lie, so I would've reached out to the employer who was my mom's friend and told him EVERYTHING and then begged to just press charges, that they need the wake up call.
What a spineless guy. He had the golden opportunity to completely shut it down and still gave them the easier way out. He should have called the employer, explain the situation and if he gets another word of contact he would call the cops himself. Or he could have called the cops and told them not only did his father and brother commit embezzlement, they’re actively harassing him to commit fraud. Get ahead of it before they have a chance to spin the story otherwise and lied to the cops.
No. The father already proved he would not be there for his younger son by kicking him out before he was a legal adult. No contract was made for people like this.
"Unbelievable! First, they kick you out to favor the ‘golden child,’ and now they’re begging you to save them from his mistakes? That’s some serious audacity. Stay strong and protect your own peace-you don’t owe them anything after the way they treated you!
You are doing the right thing don't get involved in their BS plus they were horrible to you your entire life the only reason they reached out to you is to save their sorry busts period
"I was supposed to start college in a couple of weeks and that was already going to be taken care of." Okay. By whom? The maternal grandparents? A trust left by the mother? He's pretty vague on this point. Regardless, I don't understand how this cover story was supposed to make any kind of difference in their predicament. If you steal money and then use that stolen money to buy a present for someone else, that doesn't make the recipient of the present responsible for stealing and/or paying back the money. Were they hoping to somehow manipulate the situation so that the payback money would be taken from OP's college fund? Was that even possible? And if he had a college fund to take from, wouldn't that clearly demonstrate that there was no need to steal money for his college in the first place? There's no actual plan in this plan.
I don't see why the source of the college fund means anything. It's just a nugget to say "They are lying, and I know that." The point of the lie was to try and get the CEO to give them more time to pay back what was stolen. They already had a couple months to try and pay back the debt without the Lawsuit, but they wanted more time. Why? obviously because Derek has already spent the money and it will take more time for them to try and get the money to repay the debt.
@@Olimar92 It means something if the plan was to eventually take from that college fund to pay back the money. If it was in a trust, then presumably no one could touch it, maybe not even with OP's say-so. If it was just coming from the grandparents, the same restrictions might not apply, but _they_ would be the ones who needed to be convinced to help. If more time was the one and only motivation for telling this lie, then what's the point in involving OP at all? How should he know where his loving and generous half-brother was getting all this money from? They didn't need his blessing just to lie about it. He wouldn't have even known any of this was going on if they hadn't alerted him to it. And why would they assume that a sob story would add any time to their deadline?
12:00 why do people in these stories always say the “only reason they haven’t been sued”when this is a criminal offense? you report someone to the police for and later you file the civil lawsuit once they’ve been guilty makes it so much easier
11:55 Not. a petty grudge. It doesn't matter if they loved me and treated me as a god. Unless they wanted to use that money for the college fund I wouldn't tell anybody that. A matter of being honest. If they were good to me I'd help them pay, but wouldn't lie for them.
The dad is a cruel piece of trash and so is the son. They have the absolute nerve to demand help from op after years of abuse. It wasn’t just “messing them around”. Op shouldn’t feel guilty. The father and half brother did this to themselves.
Sounds fake. Way to similar to another story also involving the parents and getting kicked out, having their sister moved in with the baby occupying OP's room instead of the guess room and having grandparents involved. Only difference was the mom didn't die, sister didn't moved in with bf in the end, OP moved to aunt's house, parent's chewed out by the aunt once found out, grandparents threaten parent's inheritance, sister reached out to apologized for never doing anything to stop the abuse happening.
istg if my dad would threaten to call cops on me i will hold a grudge foreverrrr..... like i am sure i would have acted petty and convinced the ceo to file lawsuit againt dad and bro by telling him the full story just to get back
My situation isn’t as bad as that, and my parents have helped me out at times, tho most times with some sort of recompense, but my bro is definitely the golden child and gets everything he wants and treats my parents like crap even tho he’s older than me, over 40yo, married with 3 kids and still lives at home with mom and dad… the hypocrisy is real people and it sucks. Thankfully I have my grandma to help me like OP had his. Hope things work out for him and his dad and bro get what they deserve in the end
I can’t be the only one thinking this, as soon as I heard they portrayed a plan to open my first though was to “play along” and instead come clean and spill everything to their boss. Tell him how they tried to manipulate you to lying them out of it and such…. The ultimate revenge story, missed opportunity fr. I was low key hoping for it as soon as I heard the plot.
So they abused you relentlessly and then expected you to lie to get them out of the hole they dug? Yeah hell no, if the company finds out you lied to saved them you could go to jail with them
14:20 “but I don’t want to help you. I want you to get served justice for everything you’ve done. Either way works for me but I will not cover your ass.”
hold on wtf?? So OP's dad would have done the same for OP but kicked him out of the house???? Bruh the hypocrisy

This was a story that actually had me feeling very bad for op, I felt so bad when op tried to stop his grandparents from rightfully berating his father.
Am I the only one thinking the his “uncle” could actually be his father. But she didn’t want to say anything because side she was truly in love with his “dad.”
So, his dad resented him for exaisting because he thought OP may not be his child.
dad: son you gotta help us we're going to go to jail!
son: i miss the part where thats my problem.
No see I wouldn't trust them not to lie, so I would've reached out to the employer who was my mom's friend and told him EVERYTHING and then begged to just press charges, that they need the wake up call.
It's like the inverse of the "Cool dad dies and leaves the kid with evil step mom" trope
IF they do find a way to contact you,Tell them both "DON'T pick up the SOAP!".
"Even after shes gone, my mom is still looking out for me"😭 but no rlly, she could have done more about all the abuse
Do It For Dan.
*T H E R E C K O N I N G !*
They made their choice when they pushed you aside, and it’s unfair to expect you to clean up the mess now. It sounds like karma’s finally catching up to them, and they’re learning the hard way that actions have consequences. Stay strong and protect your own peace-you don’t owe them anything after the way they treated you!
Lol let them both rot in jail.
We should make a chatgpt story bingo card for these.
Another "Do it for dan" Spinoff
You are doing the right thing don't get involved in their BS plus they were horrible to you your entire life the only reason they reached out to you is to save their sorry busts period
Problems are like the immortal snail. No matter how hard u run, the snail will somehow find u someday
I’d say “Don’t drop the soap,” and start laughing.
Im guessing if they had gotten OP in on their play they would hsve thrown him under the bus in a heart beat
It's just a nugget to say "They are lying, and I know that."
The point of the lie was to try and get the CEO to give them more time to pay back what was stolen.
Yea, they wouldn't be going to jail either.
I really want to know what happened to his family
Ladies and gents *_”DO IT FOR DAN”_* has risen from the dead
Tdlr; Zeus dies 3 days later of hypothermia :(
11:55 Not. a petty grudge. It doesn't matter if they loved me and treated me as a god. Unless they wanted to use that money for the college fund I wouldn't tell anybody that. A matter of being honest.
If they were good to me I'd help them pay, but wouldn't lie for them.
NTA THEY COMMITTED THE CRIME.IF THEY DO TIME ITS THEIR OWN FAULT
"even after she's gone my mom was still looking out for me"
The dad is a cruel piece of trash and so is the son.

Dad: You're not bringing any money back home so suck it up and do your chores.
OP: Tell thst to your Fave son, DAD
If their house is paid for, then dad should think about a 2nd mortgage.
must be related to dan and his family
Ikr, so many people remember Dan, blows my mind 😅
Well, isn't this the consequences of my own actions. Op's dad and his brother are terrible human beings.
Call the boss and tell him what they wanted him to do so you keep your hands clean of the thievery.
If it was OP who stole, they'd be witnesses for the prosecution. I wouldn't help them either.
this story makes me furious at your dad and half brother. you made the right choice to decline
Your Mum would be so proud of you. 😊
I was low key hoping for it as soon as I heard the plot.
dude congrates for the job
His mother died but then he randomly brought in his mother a few minutes later? Ha
go NC with dad's parents, dad and Derek for the rest of their lives. Screw them!
Op should have said "I missed the part where that's my problem"
So they abused you relentlessly and then expected you to lie to get them out of the hole they dug? Yeah hell no, if the company finds out you lied to saved them you could go to jail with them
14:20 “but I don’t want to help you. I want you to get served justice for everything you’ve done. Either way works for me but I will not cover your ass.”
