    EH Carr wrote a book called The 20 Years' Crisis 1919-1939. Excellent discussion of the diplomacy during the period. Distinction between realism and idealism in world affairs. In my 50 years of reading and researching history, this is one of the best books on the subject.

    Too be fair, that 20 year period wasn't entirely tranquil. You had the Russian Civil War 1918-1921 which claimed 8 million lives, the Spanish Civil War 1936-1939, and the Japanese invasion of China in 1937. War was bubbling up all over the globe
