Nice and concise summary of what you can do with gems. A couple things you missed: - The life giving amulet can be worn to recover HP over time. This is the only use for the life giving amulet in wilderness mode. - The last explorer does only 10 damage, compared to the 17 damage done by the walking cane. If you are a player who likes to use the walking cane as a weapon for its infinite durability, the lazy explorer is more of a downgrade.
I once got a green gem from a tumbleweed. I was so overwhelmed I didn't know where to put it since I always put the ancient station items in the ruins itself
Nice video on the gems and what you can do with them. Pretty good. Im just going to say what my opinion on all the gem items are: Now for what I like to do with the construction amulet and the deconstruction staff (the 2 most useful items IMO) is use them for recipes that require extremely rare / non renewable items to craft. Crafting the ancient staffs with the amulet will save you 1 gem per craft, which helps in the long run. This applies to the deconstruction staff as well (do NOT make the staff without the amulet because while it takes the same amount of green gems initially, the amulet will eventually save you 4 more green gems). Since you can duplicate resources with the green gem items, there are quite a few uses for that. Personal favorite is duping thulecite. Craft 1 amulet and use said amulet to make a deconstruction staff and 4 thulecite suits. This will take 14 thulecite, 13 nightmare fuel, 1 living log, and 2 green gems. Deconstruct all your suits with the staff for 24 thulecite and 16 nightmare fuel back, leaving you with 1 use of the staff and 10 additional thulecite (also 3 nightmare fuel, but that's insignificant). Doing this strategy a few times makes it possible to get lots of thulecite with a few green gems and living logs. You can also use the staff to conserve the mandrake in the pan flute like you showed (which is probably its best use). If you make the staffs with the amulet, 1 green gem = 37.5 pan flute uses. I typically use the pan flute against DFly when it enrages to immediately calm it (as fighting enraged DFly is FAR more difficult then the normal version). Since your guaranteed to get 1-2 of each ruins gem, I find it's okay to use the flute for the fight. The other ruins gems have some decent use as well. Lazy explorer is excellent for dodging the fuelweaver ensnare attack, and the forager is required to get the items out of the cave holes (and there are some pretty good items in them as well, like thulecite and gems) and also collecting items in dangerous areas (like tentacle traps). Star caller staff is an excellent tool for winter and for boss fights (by the way, the star only lasts 2 minutes in DS. In DST it's 2.5 DAYS, or 20 minutes). The Magi is incredibly useful for kiting bosses thanks to the additional movement speed it provides. Just make sure to wear head armor when your using it and do not let its durability reach 0%, or it breaks. The other gems I don't find amazing, but they have their uses. I would highly recommend in DST to bring a life giving amulet anywhere you go to respawn for free and with zero penalty (make sure it's not in your backpack though, because it won't drop on the ground if it is, and you need to haunt it to respawn). Chilled amulets are decent equipment for summer (you forgot to mention that if you get hit with it it will freeze attackers, but it freezes them less then an ice staff blast would and takes 3-4% of its durability). Fire and ice staffs are okay crowd control and the ice staff itself can be used to put out any fires/smoldering, which is nice for summer. Telalocator staff / focus can be used to build pens for mobs but doing it over and over will definitely cost you a lot of purple gems, but it can be worthwhile. Nightmare amulet is okay but once you get the bone helmet I wouldn't use the amulet as it's essentially the "upgrade" of it. The other things you can make with the gems are good as well (especially the shadow manipulator as you kind of require it for tier 2 magic). It's just that I haven't really played around with them much or they don't seem useful to me (lazy deserter requires 2 players and I only play by myself a majority of the time, moondial tracts the phase of the moon but the 2 most important phases of the moon happen every 20 days so it's really easy to know when the full/new moon comes, etc.) And the unuseful gem is unuseful so I'll leave it at that. Looks really pretty though. Anyways like I said, good video. Nice of you to make something like this.
I'm fairly new to the game and so far I love it, the community is awesome, barely any negativity. I love your vids, they're enjoyable and explain things in great detail
Spending time tumbleweeding is pretty much always productive. Even if you have the worst luck in the world, you can still get a few stacks of grass and twigs.
The nightlight isnt just a light source, it also spawns nightmarebeaks/crawling nightmares and has a small insanity aura. The chilled amulet freezes mobs when they attack you like the icestaff. You can also cook stuff on the scaled furnace. The dwarf star lastst for 20 minutes, not 2. Don't trust that wiki
2 things: 1: I know a potential use for moonlenses: porting Capture the Gem from _Terraria_ into _Don't Starve_. 2: I wish that secret final gem would have _some_ use, such as, say, being able to turn Star Caller's Staffs into Moon Caller's Staffs without needing to do that event?
My question is why mashing a blue and red gem together makes a purple one. They're gems. How do you combine them?? Do you just smash them together and hope for the best??
Blue gem chills things you hit or get hit by, if this effect is applied enough, the enemy is frozen. Not VERY useful, but if you cannot beat an enemy at all, you can hit it a few times until it's frozen, and then run and never stop. Edit: the amount of times you need to hit/get hit is the amount of hits that enemy takes to freeze from an ice staff.
I think the gems are : Red= relishing energy Blu = taking away energy Purplu= taking and relishing energy If you don't understand wy I think this way ask in the comments
Wouldn't the orange's element be Earth or Sand? Since you can be seen teleported with orange particles and it also has close relations with the antlion? Idk just a question I would like to ask.
Hello, i have the game on ps vita and make the yellow amulet, 2 times but it does not gives me the option to refuel it, do you think its because of the version of the game? I am playing the clasic version no expasions
I feel if the lazy forager was refuelabe like the Mag, it would actually be good, it already is a nice time saver, but but it feels useless for how expensive it is.
It’s got quite a high 250 pick up durability but yeah if your using it for any mass farm then it can be really expensive to get more especially if your doing some sort of tentacle farm with wicker where it’s basically essential
No lol, I quickly (and roughly) traced over them in paintdotnet, if you must know. The reason for this is because the actual gem sprites are extremely low quality, like 64x64.
With wickerbottom's book, the end is nigh. It's crafted with 1 red gem and 2 papyrus. Reading it will strike wx with lightning, but it's not permanent.

Dragon_Scale101 i especially love it when they drop a frog when im at low health

At least that makes some sort of sense.
Apparently shoving four rabbits into a hat and slamming them with some wood makes a magic machine.
Trinity how about strapping two moles to your face, giving them a couple batteries and a weird berry so you can see everything better at night time
This game is fucking weird lmao
what bugged me is why birds eat meat to produce infinite amount of eggs
