      I’d never heard of one or seen one that’s why we planed on building one but after meeting the folks at Carter equipment at the Paul Bunyan show last yr they said they build them so it only made sense to get something factory built . They build a lot of inovative firewood equipment that I’ve never seen before .

    I only have to cut and split enough to get me through the winter in the UK and that's a chore! Got a real bad back though so moan a lot more.

    • @AllenFamilyFirewood
      @AllenFamilyFirewood  2 місяці тому

      The hopper feeder fit our set up perfectly but as nice as that big processor is it would fill our entire wood yard . Wouldn’t be any place to store incoming wood or the outgoing splits but ya if we had the room and the set up to handle the production of a machine like that I think I could see myself sitting in that air conditioned cab just cranking out the firewood .

    Great piece of equipment that looks as though it will make your life much easier. New Buster, tractor, truck, trailer and now a infeed, please don’t take this wrong but it may be time to improve your stacking machines life in some way, shape or form! • @AllenFamilyFirewood
      @AllenFamilyFirewood  2 місяці тому

      We didn’t video it when we were down there but they have this big square box that you set a pallet under and it vibrates . As the wood comes off the conveyor it drop in the box onto the vibrating pallet and as it gets full the box lifts up and wraps the half cord of wood with netting so you can go set it out to dry . No more stacking with that machine . Maybe down the rd we can add that but then that would eliminate her job .

Love your new addition I think one other thing I would do is add a third leg on one of the sides because when I watched you dump a bucket load of round in, she rocked back-and-forth quite a bit. I think I’d put a third leg on the opposite side of the tractor that would help other than that. It looks great and I noticed your T-shirt wasn’t as sweaty as usual which is a good thing. We are in your age bracket and doing 500 mts year =to a couple hundred cord?? In any of the videos you never mentioned that they are made and designed in Australia by a family company. • @camperjack2620
    @camperjack2620 2 місяці тому

    NICE, it sure solves one of the heavy lifting chores! I personally think going at these system in pieces may wind up cheaper than these giant wood processors. They cost more than your house these days for a small piece of equipment! You will most likely want a tiny chip conveyor to pull that sawdust to the back and up into a plastic tote bin or a waste pile well back from the machine. Old sawmills used to use a drag chain. Me, I would also want a hood over my engine, and a real muffler and exhaust pipe. When I shut down for the night , I'm usually beat. Right then, I don't like cleaning all the piles away from the machine. Either they might burn, or they might freeze, you have to clean up. Also, the engine is hot right then, I want a METAL hood, like off an old lawn tractor, not plastic.

    • @AllenFamilyFirewood
      @AllenFamilyFirewood  2 місяці тому +1

      It’s going to be piece by piece for us as we just don’t have the room one of them big machines takes up . We’re hoping having a deflection shield will get the sawdust away so I can keep it clean in there . Things get way too hot in that area to risk having a fire . I’m also trying to do a better job of sifting out all the sawdust when I pick up a scoop full on that rock bucket .

    Love it. That is a huge back saver. I know it is on loan to you, but i dont see that thing ever leaving the woodyard now. Something else you haven't mentioned is that it frees up your dump trailer. It also saves a lot of abuse of big rounds being dumped into your trailer. I also wanted to mention. You should try bagging the bark you are splitting of those rounds and selling it as cheaper bundles. Not everyone wants perfect clean wood. i would definitely buy a bundle of split of bark if it was cheaper. Just another idea. Make money off of everything. I see you are selling totes of uglys all the time now. Hey, maby, you could sell a tote of the bark cut-offs better than driving it to the dump. Just my $.02 Keep up the great work you two.

    • @AllenFamilyFirewood
      @AllenFamilyFirewood  2 місяці тому

      Thanks Josh I’m hoping it doesn’t leave lol. You’re right and I meant to say it in the video but forgot. I hated dumping those rounds into the dump trailer but had to do it for a while. It wouldn’t have taken that abuse for the long term though so this machine is definitely the answer. We are so far behind we couldn’t even imagine having to bundle the bark too. It’s a great idea though but I think I bit off a little more than I could chew with our stands this year. We’ve more than doubled from last year so it’s keeping us more than busy!

    Awesome video when I first saw a similar machine that outdoors with the morgan was using I thought man would it be nice to have a conveyor belt you can dump rounds into!
    The only way you can get faster now is if you have something like a halverson where you pick the whole log up and use it to cut the rounds directly onto that conveyor belt then have someone splitting.
    But at what point does a processor become the better choice

    • @AllenFamilyFirewood
      @AllenFamilyFirewood  2 місяці тому

      Only problem with most processors is they don’t make consistent sized wood unless you feed them consistent sized wood . The company we got that from has a unit that is separate and will cut logs right into the hopper for ya . Maybe next yr if all goes well we can look into adding that . Sure would be hard to get me away from a vertical splitter there’s just so many advantages to using one of them for producing bundle grade wood .
