Very good instruction. I've wanted to learn to do this turn. You break it down into steps that gives me more confidence to try it. My Africa Twin Adventure Sports is DCT, so I'm a little more worried about losing control but I'll just work up to it slowly, in small steps. I do not have any experience with clutch-less motorcycles, but your idea of using the parking brake sounds correct. Having a finger or two covering that left lever will allow you to grab it quickly if you need to.
Once you get a feel for leaning the bike and breaking rear tire traction a few times (in a controlled manner) your confidence in understanding how the bike responds will help with making the next step easier.

Thanks Dave. Cant recommend the walking next to the bike using friction zone enough! It helped me alot to get the feel of my bike to be able to get the elephant turn down. Our sand videos show a lot the techniques being used in actual off-road riding. Enjoy your elephant turn practice 🏍
Many times, I have found myself in that situation. 😅 I would say, it’s important to be comfortable dismounting the bike from either side and then being able to walk around the bike supporting it with both hands so that you can be in a better situation to then try and walk the bike out. This could involve backing the bike straight out until a wider spot for U turn or using the friction zone to rock the bike up and down a slight edge to get momentum to be able to turn bike around. The parking security in Indonesia can do it better. They can move your parking locked handle motorcycle, and confuse you to find your bike since it is not on the spot you were parking it.
For sure the elephant turn can be performed on any surface. However, success will be dependent on tires, traction quality of the surface, and experience of the rider, etc. A high traction surface presents more resistence and makes this move more challenging. A knobby offroad tire versus bald touring tire each differ in gripability. There are many factors. So the short answer to your question is "yes", but with many caveats. Hope that helps...

Amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
What about side stand turn .in engine off.lean bike on side stand think it's on hip.hold it tight and turn slowly 180°
Yes that is a different technique that can be used for turn around.
The parking security in Indonesia can do it better.
They can move your parking locked handle motorcycle, and confuse you to find your bike since it is not on the spot you were parking it.
😅
can the same be done on a tarmac or non graveled surface??
For sure the elephant turn can be performed on any surface. However, success will be dependent on tires, traction quality of the surface, and experience of the rider, etc.
A high traction surface presents more resistence and makes this move more challenging.
A knobby offroad tire versus bald touring tire each differ in gripability.
There are many factors. So the short answer to your question is "yes", but with many caveats.
Hope that helps...
